A wonderful gem right outside of town in Grass Valley. Gorgeous garden grounds with a koi pond, lots of lawn seating and gathering spots while you enjoy peaceful music. Tony greeted us upon checking with fresh sliced watermelon and some chilled wine. We loved our cozy room with a cute kitchenette and heavenly bed. The next morning, Tony delivered us a wonderful breakfast basket filled with bagels & cream cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice and a caramel latte right to our patio table outside our room. We felt very welcomed and pampered ❤️ We enjoyed the hanging baskets of flowers, misters to relieve the 100+ temperatures and quiet peaceful setting. It feels like a special bnb here and you won’t want to leave.

Room Tip: Lots of free parking right outside your room. This is the best inn I have ever stayed in and Tony...

What an amazing place! The room was small but immaculate with a small kitchenette stocked all the basic cooking needs. Breakfast was fresh eggs and potatoes to cook for breakfast. It had a Cuisinart coffee maker real coffee grounds and there was plenty of cream in the fridge. No lightweight coffee machine with K-pods here! The bed was very comfortable. There were tables and chairs outside the rooms for relaxing and a barbecue area in the center of the courtyard.

I have never left a review before but this place was too good not to leave one. The rooms were homey and had everything you needed and more and Tony was such a nice host that made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back in the future.

This hotel is simply perfect. Wonderful location & friendly host. Each cottage has its own kitchen with oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, & microwave. There is a community grill and table in the middle and they are being very safe during Covid and they leave your room open for you so you don’t have to interact. If you need anything, text the operator and it is there very promptly. You can sit out in front and have coffee in the morning and watch the hummingbirds at the feeder. It’s quiet, has plenty of room & is a wonderful gem of a spot, especially for the price. The hotel is 130 years old and it has a wonderful quaint vibe!!!

This inn was unique--it is not just another inn of a chain. Besides being clean and warm, our room had a full kitchen and, even cooler, the management gave us all the ingredients for a delicious omelet. The place is charming, with flowers in the yard, a flowering plant outside each room, a new tiny pond, lights on the trees, a family-type game on the grass, and a swing.

What a delightful place! The studios are essentially large, updated motel rooms, with kitchenettes, comfortable beds, big TV w streaming, lovely furniture, including enough closet space, and a nicely designed, simple bathroom w shower. The host, Tony, was super friendly and helpful, offering local tips. He dropped off a basket of fresh eggs, cheese, veggies and fruit, so we were able to cook in our room. The grounds are welcoming and there are many comfortable spots to sit outside. Overall, it is simple, clean, comfortable, with lots of nice touches. We will definitely come back!

From my first contact with Tony I knew I chose the right place to stay . Tony absolutely knows how to provide outstanding customer service. In my opinion, he went over and beyond what anyone would ever expect.
The cottage was absolutely delightful and all the little touches made me feel so welcomed. Everything was so clean and tidy ... and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in when traveling .
If you are looking for a comfortable, inviting and service oriented place to stay ...hit the book button now .
Tony - thank you so much for an amazing stay !

Browsed several spots to stop over on my way to Reno. Picked this spot and was not disappointed. Cabin was spotless and well equipped. I arrived late without supplies and was amazed at the array of complimentary snacks. However, it was the small things and attention to detailed that motivated me to take the trouble to write a review. By way of example: BBQ facilities with lights, heater and utensils, ice in the freezer, snacks, chocolates and coffee to name a few.

This is a great little renovated motor lodge. On the outside the grounds are well kept with some nice seating areas. Inside it's been recently renovated. Only about a 3/4 mi walk to downtown Grass Valley so it's not too far if you want to go out without driving. Also was very handy having a large refrigerator and sink.
Due to the shape & size of the room the bathroom sink is tiny, and further constricted by the frame of the mirror (which can be used as a sort of shelf). If you're someone that wants good access to a big sink with lots of counter space this is not the place for you. Also most of the windows have dark coverings, but the window in the door was just a privacy shade. So if you're sensitive to sunlight in the mornings pack an eye mask.
Finally, breakfast was pretty good, especially the yogurt, and provided in a basket ahead of time. It's a bit confusing getting breakfast for multi-night stays so set that up at check-in.

I had a wonderful and extremely relaxing time during my stay at The Pines Motel & Cottages! The room was so immaculate with all modern features, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! The grounds were absolutely charming with colorful flowers, and cozy sitting areas that glow with serene accent lighting at night. Everything was perfection and so well taken care of; and the staff could not have been nicer and more professional. Many thanks to Tony and James for a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this gem to anyone staying in Grass Valley, and I look forward to my next visit!

I am not sure; I believe there was a dog staying in one of the rooms. The weekly rates are very reasonable. The accommodations are a bit more rustic than a hotel or Airbnb stay but very comfortable and centrally located. Call to ask about pets; the caretakers arevery friendly.
