First time visiting. What a great place to relax. Everywhere was spotless. Staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast included was a bonus and lots to choose from. Housekeeping always restocked our room daily with water bottles and coffee/tea pods for machine. Ate at the pub on site meals were great. Would return for sure.

Spent a wonderful evening at Windemere celebrating a good friend's Birthday and it did not disappoint, the food was incredible (particularly the sushi and breakfast buffet) the rooms were spotless and beds were a dream to sleep in. I understand new owners have just taken over and I noticed positive changes had been made already, with more to come. If you want a relaxing beautiful view, friendly staff and a piece of Muskoka history I highly recommend Windermere House!! We will be back again!

Just stayed for 1 night in March, had never been there before, but had heard of it. When I called about room options I took one on the second floor, with a view of Lake Rosseau. Considering it is a resort with lots of amenities the price was very reasonable. Room was very spacious, with a large terrace, and amazing view of the lake
Had dinner in the pub, it has great atmosphere, floors and walls are done with stone, a gas firepit on the patio. Both food and service were excellent.
With only 60 rooms it has a very cozy feel to it unlike some of the bigger resorts . Spoke with one of the managers, they said there are new owners ( less than a year) and they are committed to put millions back into the resort to improve the customer experience. Enjoy this hidden gem while you can.

Friends recommended we try Windemere House. We booked their largest, most costly suite and at the same time reserved dinner each evening in their dining room. Almost 3 weeks after, on the day prior to our arrival, came an email advising the dining room was closed. Uh, this couldn't have been conveyed at the time of booking?
Upon checking in we discovered only 1 of the 3 TV sets in the suite were working. We called the front desk. The clerk said she would send someone in maintenance. It in fact was the same desk clerk that appeared. She went through the removes the same as I had, with the same results. Only then did she explain that they were changing their satellite service and only some of the rooms had been done...maybe ours would be tomorrow. Really? Maybe?
1 of 2 lightbulbs on the main bathroom vanity was dark, making it somewhat of a challenge to do makeup or shave.
Towels were absent in the spare bathroom.
The batteries in the gas fireplace remote were dead.
Following breakfast the next morning we stopped by the desk and asked if there was a chance the TVs would made to work that day? She didn't think so. No explanation.
The swimming pool was off limits due to repairs, although in fairness we had been informed by email a week after booking.
Also in fairness, Windemere House is a nice, modern, comfortable resort with good food and staff in the Pub, and breakfasts were excellent.
However, the resort is sorely in need of a manager, one with a grasp of the basics of the hospitality business, knowing when guests are about to arrive their room or suite should be ready and fully functioning in every respect. truly not a lot to ask.

Good Morning, Thank you for taking the time to write about your most recent stay with us here at the resort. I am sorry that we fell short on your expectations, although some of your concerns are due to property upgrades we did miss our mark on the level of service we strive for here at the resort. I am hoping that you will be open to connect for a quick call to discuss further. If you can please email me directly at akober@windermerehouse.com I would appreciate the opportunity to hear from you directly and try and make it right for your next visit with us.

A dream I have had for some time, was to get married at the luxurious Windemere House Hotel, and having become engaged in the spring, 2024, it seemed like the perfect time to check it out. I contacted Event planner, Morgan Jennings, who is easy going, friend and incredibly helpful - it was an immediate connection. She was thrilled for the opportunity to host us for a couple of nights and although we were hoping to meet her, it was not possible that weekend. So, off we went, bags packed for a two night adventure - a 177km or two hour drive North from Newmarket, Ontario in late May, 2024. When we arrived at our very large suite, located on the second floor of the hotel, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne, local jams and maple syrup and a few goodies - what a beautiful touch! And, although it was a cool and wet weekend, we managed to have a swim in the pool and outdoor hot tub, as well as resting or walking the grounds. Our room included a large balcony with comfortable seating (one chair/one small sofa) overlooking gorgeous Lake Rosseau. Our king sized bed had a decorative swan made of rose petals, with petals surrounding it and what I liked best, was the 'black out' drapes! The bedsheets were of excellent quality and the bathroom sparkling clean. Our room was massive and nicely decorated, although a little outdated. Beautiful views from the balcony.
As part of our weekend, we enjoyed a savory brunch daily, located in the dining room, which proved to be beyond our expectations. Everything from fruit to bagels/muffins and local jams to an array of hot food, such as bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs and potatoes was available as well as alcoholic drinks and cocktails. Probably one of the best brunches ever! And, the service was impeccable - friendly staff always willing to help, courteous and kind. Food was excellent and I really liked the sweet little touches on each table!

The only negative about our stay was that the black flies were out with a vengeance! Otherwise, it was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to return for a winter weekend! 🌹

This was my 2nd visit to Windermere. Absolutely loved the winter vibe. Room was perfect. Two queen beds, a beautifully updated washroom with glass wall in shower. Keurig coffee maker in room with pods, mugs, sugar, whitener and stir sticks. Mini fridge was perfect for in room snacks. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, cold swimming pool (for plunge) and barrel sauna. Very relaxing. Room comes with 2 robes, just bring sandals / slip ons to wear outside! The buffet breakfast is delicious. Everything you could want for breakfast. We dined at the pub for dinner (the restaurant was not open for dinner, only breakfast). The pub was fantastic. Perch tacos, Caesar salad and Caesar (drink) were all above average. I’m looking forward to returning this summer to enjoy the kayaking, the beach and some more food & drink. We also had a lakefront room with a great balcony both times I’ve visited. Definitely a must in the summer. Great place to sit and relax with a couple drinks.

We have stayed here two previous summers and unfortunately it has really gone downhill since new management. Our room had a broken bed, cold showers and a broken extractor fan. The internet also did not work, which would be fine if everything else did. The elevator also didn’t work, so we had to haul our buggy down three flights of stairs. When we raised these issues, the staff were mostly not able to make it right. All they offered was a 10% off coupon off the next stay until December, which won’t be possible for us to use. Such a shame as we really enjoyed staying here the previous two years. Extremely expensive to have so many issues.

I just returned from the most incredible vacation at the Windemere House and I can't wait to return. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make our stay truly unforgettable.
The resort itself is a stunning oasis with plenty of seating outdoors, a sparkling pool, waterview saunas and a gorgeous water view of the lake. Our room was spacious, with a private balcony that overlooked the water.
The amenities on site were great ( paddle boards, canoes, pickle ball ) with a spa ( best massage ever is an understatement!) fitness center, and delicious dining options. But what really made our stay special was the attention to detail and the genuine warmth of the staff.
If you're looking for a true relaxing experience, look no further than the Windemere House. We can't wait to return and experience it all again!"

The staff is amazing, the management is so accommodating, the rooms are comfortable and the amenities are phenomenal. Steamy saunas and cold plunges, a great workout room, hot tub and even snowshoes to enjoy the Canadian Winter. We held our corporate retreat here and we cannot say enough about the entire experience. Highly recommended!

Food is average at best, lunch menu is actually a dinner menu. Don’t bring kids!
Setting is beautiful and waitress was great. Hopefully the new owners can make a go of it. Would be sad to see someone buy it and turn it into their cottage
