A relatively isolated part of California Hwy 1, buried in redwoods. Cabins and a very special inn designed to look like the Stav Churches of Norway and Russia 1000 years ago, including octagonal cupulas. Rustic setting, but plenty of hot water and electric heat, if you don't want to mess with the wood stove (although they provide plenty of chopped...

This has been one of our favorite getaways for 35 years. Has not lost an ounce of charm. Each return visit is a special surprise. The rooms in the lodge and the cabins are equally charming. But the large cabins are quite special and have great sitting areas. Dining here is magical. We are amazed how they do such a...

We stayed in Sea Pines, a little cabin that resembles the Weasley's house in Harry Potter from the outside. Inside are 2 small rooms with oversized furniture. Long on charm (a working fireplace!) but lacking in functionality. It is in a rustic setting with other cabins on a hill one driveway away from their fabulous restaurant, a short drive but...

Be sure you explore your choices for this restaurant before settling in for dinner. Know that the fixed price menu is a lot of food.It included soup and salad and is rather expensive. The food is also heavy. We learned later that the bar has choices for lighter fare.

We had stayed in the Blue Iris cottage 10 years ago, and reserved the cottage again. When we arrived there was a problem with the blinds in the cottage so we were upgraded to the Black Chanterelle. Wow! What an amazing place with Russian-influenced architecture. It was bigger than the Blue Iris and had a wood stove, a Jacuzzi tub,...

We have been going to St. Orres for years and always stay in Sea Pines and take our dog. It is a lovely, serene place to enjoy being with the ones you love. They offer outdoor seating so we were able to have a wonderful glass of wine and appetizers and include our dog. The breakfasts are delivered to your...

My girlfriend and I drove up hwy 1 this past weekend to meet my parents for their 35th wedding celebration at St.Orres. We had a fabulous time. We stayed in one of the front rooms of the main lodge. The room had a balcony shared with the occupants of the other front room. It was extremely quiet and relaxing. We...

Originally we were booked in for two days as part of a tour of the coast but finally stayed for five. We just didn't want to move. The hotel and cabins are just wonderful. A unique architectural experience plus great, friendly service. Highly recommended.

I was so excited to be returning to St Orres since our last visit a few years ago. We had stayed at the Tree House and loved it. This time we thought we would try the Pine Haven cottage. I wish I could give a glowing report but this place was so full of HUGE cobwebs. Cobwebs with lots of...

St. Orres is one of our very favorite places to visit! The 14 acre property is situated on the rugged Northern California coast in Gualala (north of Sea Ranch) on a sloping green hill overlooking the ocean. It is dotted with redwoods and various lovely handmade cabins. The hotel/restaurant is made of gorgeous woods, stained glass and onion domes --...
