People get let down with this place because they expect the luxury of the Ritz. This is a quaint and simple place to lay your head. With no T.V.'s, clocks, or phones, these cozy cabins are clean, simply furnished, and perfectly adequate for a place to rest. Many activities are located nearby. Dogs are allowed (I had my two large...

i paid over $100 for a shack built on top of other shacks!! not worthy of calling it a cabin. bathroom way too small, the door was about an inch from your face when sitting on the can! and the shower......a pipe coming out of the wall. i would have expected that for about $50 a night, but $100? they...

I had my wedding here this last weekend and Dawn Ranch was the perfect location. The service was impeccable, the staff attentive, and the surroundings stunning. We has guests from all over the world present and everyone was thrilled with their experience. The food was fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. I would recommend Dawn Ranch...

Came up to enjoy the redwoods and relax.. The grounds are beautiful..Our cabin was just what we needed, rustic, quiet and quaint. The little fireplace heater kept us warm...and the sun shining in our bedroom in the morning and afternoon was wonderful. Disappointed the restaurant was such a limited menu..but we understand. We walked to Safeway...and uptown to find places...

I took my two dogs to Dawn Ranch and the three of us had a fabulous time. The grounds are beautiful and very dog friendly. Melanie at the reception was very pleasant and accomodating. I ate at the Grill down the street for breakfast and the Italian Resturant (I forgot the name). I enjoyed it so much that I repeated...

My friends and I stayed at the Dawn Ranch in July for three nights. We were in one of the cabins near the river that had two rooms plus the bathroom, so it wasn't inexpensive, but given that it's a rather unique setup it was worth it. Like others have said, the grounds are beautiful but the cabins themselves are...

My husband and I hosted our daughters wedding this summer, Dawn Ranch was everything we wanted. Lots of out-of-state guests and we wanted a real California experience for them. Not only was the proximity to the ocean, wineries and redwoods important but the chance for everyone to hang out together for a period of time; Dawn Ranch fit the bill,...

Whoever the photographer was that posted the pictures on their website should win an award. This place was a dive. The floors were slanted, the beds were lumpy and you could barely turn around in the shower. There is no air conditioning, phone, tv, coffee maker, curtains or artwork on the walls. We asked for a fan and were brought...

This has the potential to be a great great-away place, lovely grounds, great location, good restaurant but my stay was ruined by paper thin walls, I could hear the couple next door talking in bed! The bathroom is truly unpleasant and I don't like the sun shining in my face when i wake up: there were no curtains or blinds...

Top things about this place are the grounds (wide and expansive) and the dog policy (if you are traveling with your canine friends). The downside: sparse amenities, bare bones bathrooms, minimal "continental breakfast", paper thin walls. So yes, the grounds are beautiful and their dog policy is wonderful. But goodness, you could literally hear the conversations going on in the...
