Hotel Hermosa garners commendation for its cleanliness and prime location near the beach and dining options, with guests frequently acknowledging the well-kept rooms and convenient access to local attractions. While the modern ambiance and design are positively noted, some guests suggest the hotel can be noisy and advise bringing earplugs. Opinions on value and service vary, with praise for the staff's friendliness contrasting with calls for better responsiveness. Room experiences are mixed, with noise and lighting issues mentioned, and the pool and amenities leave some room for enhancement.

I reserved a junior suite and it was a great size and very clean - balcony with Ocean view was amazing as well! The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly and the heated pool and hot tub were absolutely fantastic

I stayed here for one night when I drove down from northern CA to help my daughter get stuff out of her storage unit near here. It's a lovely place, and I wish I could've spent more time here!

My room was upgraded from a city view to a courtyard view which was nice. No balcony, but the room looked directly out on the courtyard. I sort of wished I had a slider to directly access the nice lounge area out there, but was glad (since I was alone) that I didn't. My window did open (with a screen) so I was able to get fresh air, which is so nice when you are near the ocean.

The room was really fun, with lots of thoughtful touches (blankets for sitting outside or taking to the beach, beach towels, plenty of bath towels, a robe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and lots of storage. I loved the whimsical decor (see pictures) and the whole vibe of the place.

Check in and check out were efficient and the desk people were really friendly. There's a nice lobby area with a small cafe that serves breakfast stuff (for a cost) and also an upper balcony seating area on the 2nd floor. The elevator is glass with a view of the ocean, and at the top landing, there's a large chalkboard where guests can write down what their "dreams are before they die." Love it!

The bed was comfortable and it was easy to regulate the room temperature. I had a little trouble connecting to the internet, but a phone call to their provided tech service solved that and the connection was good. The bathroom was nice and big and brightly decorated, but both the room and the bathroom were pretty dark. The whole space could use a bit more lighting. It was nice that the bathroom lights came on automatically when you entered, but the door also automatically shut (and was heavy) so that made for a bit of a struggle in the middle of the night when you can't see very well and have to find the door. Other than that, I have no complaints about the room itself. Although small, it was fine for one person and well-equipped.

The hotel isn't really very close to the village of Hermosa Beach (at least by walking) or the beach itself, but it's an easy drive and I had no trouble parking there. My daughter and I did spend some time sitting by the fireplace in the courtyard after dinner, which was nice. We finally had to leave though, because the smell of gas from the fireplace was getting to us a bit. It's a great place to socialize out there with cornhole, a ping pong table and lots of seating--along with a nice (albeit far) ocean view.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend this as a reasonably priced option if you are visiting Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach. It's also pretty close to LAX.

I moved to a quieter room and paid an up charge to do so. Traffic noise is at peak volume during rush hour but it continues 24/7. Unavoidable because of the location. If you're not used to sleeping with that level of noise you should avoid the urban rooms. This is a value hotel, for ex the room has two disposable cups wrapped in plastic rather than a drinking glass, you can hear footsteps from the room above, lumpy pillows, trash in the fountain, broken glass in the parking area etc. The whole place is acceptable if you're focused on the location, know what to expect and are looking for low cost lodging.

The staff were amazingly friendly and I would recommend to anyone looking for great value in the South Bay. Hotel Hermosa is situated near plenty of grocers, take out places, a surf clothing shop and just a short walk to the beach. Despite facing the PCH the noise was barely audible from my room. The hotel had recently been updated which is a huge plus compared to other hotels in the area. My room was spacious with modern décor and new furnishings. There is a large courtyard located right next to the lobby for anyone who would like to relax. Thanks Zach at the front desk and the rest of the team for being so personable and ensuring a flawless stay!

The staff was very accommodating for two senior, disabled ladies. They Put us in a room that was ADA Compliant. They Served breakfast and even delivered it to our room to make our life easier. Because I had a handicapped placard they didn't charge me parking which normally would be 18 dollars a day, due to the close proximity of the beach. This hotel has great amenities and I would highly recommend a stay the next time you came to Southern California.

Guess there’s a first for everything.
In all the years of staying at hotels
it’s the first time our room wasn’t cleaned. It’s a secret but apparently, unless you specifically request it 24 hours in advance, it’s not done.
Manager claimed it was all mentioned at check in but 2 of us didn’t hear it!
Everything is told to you verbally- no info sheets!
So you had better be young and have an excellent memory! :-)
According to the manager they only clean if requested -because of Covid people apparently don’t want anyone in their room. Strange as we travelled frequently and never once did we encounter our room not being cleaned.

But Covid or not, the small pool and hot tub were open but should have been closed for construction and maintenance. As per the photos, this was a very dangerous situation. Especially when I saw children using it.

Every item was an extra cost. Coffee, parking, ( $18)
No sanitizer.
And yes, it is noisy. You have no choice but to upgrade if you want to escape the ongoing highway noise.

We were regulars before it was converted into a “boutique” hotel. Disappointed that our long awaited anniversary was spent here. It wasn’t worth it.

Terrible experience. The manager Claudia is the most impolite and rude person I’ve ever dealt with at a hotel. They charged me twice for my room, even though I had pre paid, and refused to give me a full refund and instead charged me a no-show fee even though it was not my mistake. On top of that, she was extremely rude and didn’t want to discuss with us, even though we are loyal and recurring guests of the hotel. Be careful with everything they charge on your credit because they are very deceptive and you only learn about what they charge when checking out!
There are nicer hotels, closer to the beach, for similar places so stay away from this hotel.

Will not stay here again! Management did not honor our hotel . com reservation and pretty much turned us away after getting in from a flight .Had to scamble to find another room last minute somewhere else. Stayed there before with the same reservation process with no problems. The manager said they were turning us away and not letting us check in because the year before we called ahead to see if we could get a room on th ocean side and that was what we were expecting but instaed were giving a room that was unacepptible as far as noise and location so we called to be moved to another room. Instaed of contacting us prior to arriving the next year managment decided to not inform us we could not stay at their hotel until we where checking in! Unprofessional and rude!

Do not tell everyone about this gem! Hotel Hermosa is a beach-themed hotel, befitting its location. The place is super clean inside and out. The staff is friendly and happy to make your stay pleasant. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Hermosa if you're visiting the South Bay area....Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes area.

Putting guests in a room that suffers from excessive road traffic noise on the corner of a main intersection without proper door/windows to reduce noise + an ice machine directly across our door = no peace, no sleep. When asked to be moved to a different room, unable to accommodate. We were forced to leave early so we can stay elsewhere where we can have a quite room that will allow us to sleep at night. We travel a lot. Our first time having to check out early.
