We had a Queen room on the "3rd" floor. It was not a room you could hang out in. No table or desk. Bathroom was minimal. The bar was great and Stanley's was fantastic. The bartender became our waiter at dinner. Back to the room, the bed was comfortable. We had prime rib and it was awesome . Wished I...

Jackson is truly a lovely walk downtown. This old hotel is reputed to be haunted and certainly has a lot of atmosphere inside as well as outside. There is dining and a bar inside as well. The menu looked great but I'd already eaten so didn't try it out this trip.

We really loved our 2 night stay here. Our room was really quaint with the best pillows. We enjoyed everything about the hotel, from the historical nature to the absolutely best food we had on our entire 10 day trip. Thank you Kelly for feeding and entertaining us at the Stanley Bar.

Located in the center of Jackson. It's a nice old hotel with character and nicely maintained. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom layout was spacious with a incredible bathtub, according to my wife. Perfectly located to enjoy downtown Jackson. Something different, the front desk cleck showed us to our room, nice. The reason I didn't give them a...

This hotel is located in the historical area of Jackson at the intersection of Main St. and Water St. with a beautiful Facade. Inside the lobby the owner's have done a great job of renovation. It is like stepping back in time, from the furnishings to the decorations. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful and truly represent...

A real gem in the gold country. Not much happening in this town, but a great place to serve as a hub for a two day exploration of historic Highway 49. Booked the John Wayne room opening to the hotel balcony. (It also has a fireplace that we didn't use being that we were in the middle of a major...

The food was great, but the menu was wrong. I had ordinary vegetables instead of the creamed spinach that was supposed to accompany my delicious salmon dinner. The worse part was the waitresses gouging us by mounting up the cost of the bill. We ordered a $26 bottle of wine and she quickly served a $35 bottle making us believe...

Too cute....and only an hour from home! I was there last week for a small work planning meeting and plan to return again soon with my husband! The rooms are renovated and very clean and comfortable. My bed was super comfy, sheets were soft and the bathroom had everything you need. Was lucky enough to be in a front facing...

We were heading to Tahoe, but didn't allow sufficient time and ended up in Jackson, which initially looked like a nowhere town, but we followed the sign for the historic town and found a lovely row of old buildings and ultimately the national hotel. It's delightful. When we arrived there was a man playing the piano- what a great intro!...

We dropped in this last weekend for a quick vist to the gold country. Hotel is easy to locate and has a nice citygarage behind. We had a 1st floor room #105. It was small but perfect for a few nights. The bed warm, crisp, and clean. The pillows were abundant and oh so nice. Shower and toilet clean and well...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The National Hotel has just completed a four million dollar renovation and updating, while maintaining the grand dame's wild west, gold country roots. Rooms and public areas have many of their original fixtures (phones & lighting) and furniture. All rooms are luxury, many with jacuzzis, balconies, heated floors, fireplaces and so much more. Most of the 150 year old bar has been kept in tact and now is an elegant venue for meeting and imbibing, or while waiting for your table at our fine dinner house. ... more   less
