Mojave Sands is absolutely one of a kind. You will never find another hotel like this anywhere. My fiance and I frequent the Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree area as a weekend escape from LA. We were headed to Hicksville one weekend and were redirected to Mojave Sands due to a technical difficulty. We were completely blown away at the beauty, craftsmanship,...

We pulled into the Mojave Sands around 7pm as the sun was setting the air had started to cool off and the wind was a peaceful breeze. I had heard of all the care and attention that Blake had put into the design of the Motel and was really excited to see what he had done. He took us on...

My girlfriend and I booked a night at the Mojave Sands impulsively, based only on the information on its website, and it ended up being the best thing about our trip to Joshua Tree. The owner Blake greeted us at check-in and, since it was a slow weekend, upgraded us from our small-but-nicely-decorated room to a suite for no extra...

I have now been a repeat visitor at the Mojave Sands and plan to keep coming back as often as I can. Blake the owner has lovingly crafted each room by hand, and it shows. There are many thoughtful touches, from the beautiful antiques its clear he has hand chosen, to the record collections and turn tables to while away...

I travelled to Mojave Sands staying two nights in early June. It was part of a week long road trip and it was by far one of the highlights. The rustic slide-away gate opened to reveal a quirky and unique desert garden filled with cool sculpture and pieces that Blake has collected or made. We too were greeted by the...

I wanted to write this review immediately after getting home, but I was afraid skeptical TripAdvisor readers would be wary of such a fawning account of my experience there. But nearly a week later I'm still wishing I was back. Mojave Sands is amazing. It's a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing, community oriented retreat. If our experience was any indication, you can...

We spent the weekend at Mojave Sands Motel & the place is truly a labor of love and a work of art. The owner, Blake, is a good human being with the right livelihood and an attention for detail that far surpasses most designers/architects in this day & age. The building, rooms, garden ~ all stunning in a very understated...

My adult children and I were thoroughly at peace with this incredible find...at the recommendation of architect friends. The suite was spacious, well designed, and beauty at every angle. We felt so welcomed and rested after staying during our hiking visit to Indian Canyons and Joshua Tree. Be sure to have dinner at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneer town (about...

Myself and my wife had the privilege of spending a recent evening at the Mojave Sands. Blakes vision and the hard work of the artists involved should not go unnoticed. This Motel should be on the list of places to stay for all artists, photographers, designers and musicians. Hidden behind a steel fence (itself a piece of art) is a...

We spent a night at this very beautiful place last week and it was absolutely perfect. The owner, Blake, has built the place himself over eight years and you can tell how much thought, effort and talent has gone into it. It is an architectural delight and very comfortable. Situated moments away from the Joshua Tree National Park, it is...
