If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in Julian, then the Butterfield Inn is what you are looking for! My wife and I stayed in the Stanza Italia room, and found it to be cozy and romantic, which was the perfect combination to celebrate her birthday. The room was clean, which was of most importance to us due to...

Nice quite area near to Julian. Comfortable room. Heater in bathroom (need that for my home!). I wanted a hook to hang my shirt in the bathroom. It was there. I wondered if the outside stairs were too dark coming back late at night. Then noticed each step had a low level light. All the trails were lighted too. Nice...

My husband and I stayed her for our anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm an author and we were doing a book-related event in Julian and it was just a hop skip and a jump away from where we needed to be. We stayed in the Feather Nest and it was cozy and just right. The meals were delicious...

My wife and I just had a classic Julian experience: apple picking, walking the town, visiting the family-owned stores, dinner at the Grille, all capstoned by a stay at Butterfield. What a lovely property! It was enjoyable to spend the evening in the parlor, fiddling on the piano, looking through their books and movie collection, and playing some board games...

This was a great bed and breakfast! A first for us to Julian. Our room, the smallest one of all, "the Feathers Nest" was clean, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding and the owners delightful and gracious. We will go back!

We stayed here Memorial Day weekend and the Rose Cottage couldn't have been more wonderful! A home away from home. A separate little building with parking outside our door and steps away from the dining room with the most spectacular breakfasts ever! Dawn & Ed are just amazing. Everything is immaculately clean and every detail was realized and manifested. The...

I stayed for 3 nights in the Stanza Italia. I was looking for a quiet and private room for a personal retreat and this fit the bill very well. The room was clean and well appointed with coffee maker, enough hangers, A/C and a comfortable bed. There's a cafe table outside the door as well as other reading/sitting nooks around...

We celebrated my 60th birthday in the most hospitable and peaceful place we could have chosen for a weekend getaway. The breakfasts were gourmet...always homemade cookies or brownies waiting when we returned from a hike or a walk around town or a picnic by lake Cuyamaca...a library of videos that went on and on...and every amenity waiting for us in...

What a delight! Beautiful, quiet setting. Spent the morning in Anzo-Borrega desert state park, so going from 101 degree heat to the cool mountain air was a real treat. Stayed in the Rose Cottage. Dawn and Ed think of everything. Comfortable and clean. AMAZING breakfasts. Easy couple minute drive into Julian.

“The Butterfield B&B is located on a quiet road with no distractions and it is very quiet. Since the facility is over 80 years old, it has a rustic noises and the wood beams creek, so if you are a light sleeper, you might want to have ear plugs or light the fire with a crackling log.”
