Nestled in the picturesque town of Kenwood, the Kenwood Inn and Spa boasts a prime location lauded by many travelers for its scenic views and proximity to local eateries and vineyards. The hotel's Italian villa ambiance, complete with cozy fireplaces, earns high marks for creating a serene atmosphere. While the clean, spacious rooms with deluxe amenities receive praise, some guests note they could use an update.
Despite the commendations for the attentive staff, a few guests mention a dip in service quality. Additionally, the value proposition is a point of contention, as certain visitors feel the cost outweighs the benefits, especially given the mixed reviews on amenities like breakfast.

I loved it here. Everything was wonderful. Most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on, so much so I plan on buying the same one. I loved exploring the grounds- we enjoyed the warming pool and sat by the fire pit. Our room was well appointed and had ample seating. The balcony was great. One of my favorite things was the unlimited coffee bar- such a treat! Only been home one day and already want to go back :)

We felt so very welcome at Kenwood Inn and Spa. We only had time to stay two nights but it served to refresh us after a hectic year of 2023. In November we were watching a San Francisco bay area television show called "Localish". It is about local places to stay, eat and other attractions and things of interest to do. I googled the Kenwood Inn & Spa after I saw it on tv and they were having a black Friday sale 40% off! We immediately booked a quick getaway for January 2024. So well worth it! We then booked a wine dinner for our first night there. I had not thought about what we were going to do about transportation to the dinner so we could both drink the featured wines and contacted the Inn's concierge Lim Ann who turned out to be so incredibly helpful to find a local driver to come and take us to the dinner and then return to pick us up and return to the Inn afterwards at a reasonable price. Note: local Limo companies want your business for tours and have a four hour minimum so that did not work for getting to a restaurant and return for dinner. We were so very thankful! We enjoyed the Inn's hot tub after dinner that is open 24 hours a day. I went about 10 pm. for a nice relaxing rest in the hot water after the wine dinner. I sure did sleep very well that night. Our room was very comfortable and we used the fireplace multiple times in the evening and also in the morning. We sat at the little table in front of the fire reading our emails, texts and also watching the television above the fireplace. On the second night we had an antipasto platter for our dinner (in front of the fire) delivered by room service. it was excellent. We drank champagne with antipasto. We plan on returning again later this year if time permits.

We stayed for three nights recently. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Temperature was comfortable and well-regulated. The fireplace was very welcome since we had a rainy weekend. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The property is attractive with a huge hot-tub and a nice pool (which we used despite the rain!). The room could do with a refresh and felt very dated and worn. A cautionary note is that the door handle is designed in such a way that fingers get trapped between it and the other door. I am sure many hurt hands have come from there!!
We were underwhelmed by the breakfast area which I found small, cramped and stuffy. The food was good but limited and at the level of a Courtyard Marriott in my opinion. Very surprising that no cappuccino, espresso etc was available. I expect better of a "luxury" hotel. The Happy Hour was also a disappointment since it was basically a wine tasting of 2 sips of wine with some cheese and crackers in another cramped space similar to the breakfast room. Hardly the setting for a convivial hour.
So, overall, we had a pleasant stay but feel we could and should have had a much better experience considering the cost.

Very sad and disappointed. My wife and I were married at the Kenwood and wanted to return for our 10th anniversary last week as a very romantic memoir and reprise of the magical occasion it was then. Unfortunately it was not to be. The inn is nothing like it was in its heyday, especially the service and present management. When I booked the room directly with the hotel I informed them it was our anniversary and wanted it to be special. I was told we would have a room on the second floor overlooking a pool. We were led up three flights of stairs (very dark at night) to a very remote room at the back of the inn with a view of a rooftop and a parking lot. As we are both elderly we asked to be given another choice of a room but were informed that only the ADA room with no rugs or carpet was left. The staff seemed very young and had a "take it or leave it" attitude, from the front desk to the day manager on call. We asked for a call from the corporate manager to see if they could offer another solution. We were left a voice mail from corporate but not until the next day after we checked out, very disappointed that we would not be there on our anniversary and forced to find last minute lodging elsewhere. To date we have tried to contact the corporate manager Travis three times and have not had a call back. We are very disappointed that the Inn is now run by a corporate culture that does not value the requisite customer service of a luxury hotel.

We are so sorry for your disappointment and for the issues you experienced during your stay. As you mentioned, the room was booked directly and on the second floor, which does involve stairs. On check-in we were advised that due to a medical issue, since the time of reservation, the stairs would not be acceptable. Of course, had we known sooner of the issue we would have done our utmost to relocate to a different room on the first floor, but at the time of your arrival, I can absolutely assure you that our only room available, which could meet your needs, was the ADA guestroom. We sincerely apologize if the front desk team conveyed this information in an unsatisfactory fashion and I will certainly be addressing your feedback with them. The management team have "played phone tag" for several days but have communicated via email also. We strive to offer the highest standard of service and comfort and hope to have the pleasure of your company in the future.

We just stayed here 2 nights to celebrate my father's birthday in wine country. This is a return trip for us, we stayed here a year ago at the same time for 3 nights. We loved our stay last year so much we had to come back and do it again this year. Unfortunately I'm so sad to report that things have changed for the worse. Breakfast last year was phenomenal every day, there was a chef preparing several hot food options (ie. lemon blueberry pancakes, omelette with veggies and side salad with truffle oil dressing) as well as cold choices like fresh berry compote on greek yogurt, house baked granola, the food was fantastic! We couldn't believe how special this hotel was. This year it was such a huge let down, we were all so disappointed by the food on this trip. We asked the woman at the front desk about it, she said they were making some changes, unfortunately it seems the changes are for the worse and most likely to save the hotel money. This is not a bargain price hotel, the rooms are fairly expensive, it was totally worth it when the food was top notch but now I'd say it is not worth the price. The breakfast now is more like a regular "continental breakfast" you'd get at any small hotel/motel.. it's such a shame. We've been looking forward to coming back here all year and are so sad they have changed for the worse this much in just a year. I have recommended the hotel to a lot of people based on my past stay a year ago and now I regret that I talked it up so much now that the quality is not up to par. The property is pretty and the rooms are a pretty good size and decorated nicely, but it is pretty far out and not close to any good restaurants. I wouldn't mind at all if the quality was still the same, but now it's not worth the hassle of the extra driving on winding roads at night to get to good restaurants from here.
The fresh baked cookies used to be bakery quality and they had a different variety each day (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, white chocolate chip). Now they seem like Pillsbury cookie dough baked in the front office, it's a sugar cookie and chocolate chip that are greasy and some undercooked, some overcooked, just low quality and nothing to look forward to.
Our whole group agreed the quality has declined a lot and the current state is a disappointment. There are plenty of other places to stay that are more convenient to wineries and restaurants in Sonoma or Napa. The gourmet breakfast had really set it apart in my opinion, without that extra amenity, it's lost it's charm for me 😣

You feel like you are walking into a European Villa and the staff, the grounds, the amenities are all so thoughtfully arranged. The rooms are situated in such a way as to allow for ample privacy. We scored a mid-week special that included a bottle of Prosecco and a room upgrade. We had a small private courtyard with a sunny sitting area.
They really had me at on-demand sparkling water and chocolate chip cookies, but the breakfast was also fantastic. Nuri was working hard to meet the demands of all the special orders at breakfast.
The bed and linens were perfect - I meant to ask what brand the bed linens were. I could have stayed there a week but hubby said it wasn’t in our budget. Till next time…

This was my 4th visit to Kenwood Inn and Spa. It is our favorite place to relax, be pampered, and enjoy the wine country area. From the moment we arrive, we are treated with sparkling wine and fresh baked cookies. Yasmin at the front desk is always so welcoming and attentive.
We normally stay in the Grand King + Patio as we love the view and the ability to open the windows for fresh air. This time we were complimentary upgraded to the Sonoma Suite. This is a lovely suite with 2 rooms. What I most loved about this room was that I could take a soak in the large tub, and watch the fireplace that unites the bedroom and bathroom. There is another fireplace in the living area, with also a half bath.

This trip was for my wife’s 60th birthday. I chose the most expensive suite based on its falsely advertised description as the most luxurious room in the Inn. When we entered what we were greeted with was far from that expectation: a child’s art project chandelier, shabby couch, pictures hung at the ceiling, wobbly cabinet and a TV positioned in front of the door, nowhere near a seating area. We walked into the second room to more of the same. A modern tub and nicely pressed sheets being in contrast to the shabbiness. The bed was pressed against the back wall with no headboard and the pillows against the cold window curtain and trim. There was also no TV in the sleeping area despite having a huge open wall and tons of empty space. During the day the room is very dark and opening blinds in the sleeping area reveals a less than desirable view to the work area.
The shower had a broken handle and lime deposits on the shower head. I texted to have that fixed and they did send someone to try to fix it but had to patch it with a clamp until they got parts. The daily cookie service after our first night was hidden behind reception and available only when we asked. The cookies were good but the breakfast food was not.
I texted several times asking to change rooms but was told there were no available rooms. However, during our stay I saw several smaller king sized rooms that were not occupied.

We had a one night mid week stay that went flawlessly. The grounds and structures have a real Tuscan feeling, the rooms are spacious and our was up to date w plenty of outets , dimmers on all lights, good HVAC, a spa style tub steamer, safe, nice fireplace too etc. Our bed was super comfy. ALthough we could not easily figure out how to get our streaming services going on the TV.
The outdoor hot "Tub" its more like a small pool is a main attraction....and for adults only w 24 hr. access. There's also a large pool and lots of room to relax. My other half got an hour massage that she was pleased about. Breakfast is included and very adequate, two entrees and the usual fruit and yoghurt and pastries are buffet style. The wine and cheese happy hour is also really nice from 5-6. Good quality wine generously poured.
Kenwood Inn has a laid back country vibe with a lot of nice perks, soda water on tap + coffee tea 24 hrs. The personnel are friendly , helpful and welcoming. Great spot for a short getaway or long distance travelers touring wine country.

I came here for one night with my partner for my birthday. I spent several hours researching places in the area for a mini staycation nearby and decided on this place because it was a relatively good deal (breakfast included, wine and cheese in the afternoon included, bottle of Prosecco upon arrival in the room) and had the exact cute vibes I wanted and a pool/hot tub (plus it was warm and I wanted to get away from the cold in San Francisco). I loved my stay here. I didn't do any of the spa treatments or add-ons (like the cabanas) but I loved it nonetheless. It feels homey and relaxing and the other guests were respectful and friendly, it was such a nice place to come to. The room was newly renovated, clean, beautiful, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. The breakfast was definitely good especially for being free, and I appreciated that they had gluten free bread :) also, I called early and they said we were able to come hours before check in to use the pools before we checked into our room, which we really appreciated--we got a really full use of the property even for just one night. The staff were all so friendly and charming. I can't wait to come back, perhaps in another season!

The inn has been completely remodeled following the fires. Its beautiful. The spa isn’t open, which was somewhat disappointing to us too. But we were treated very well and had a wonderful time.
There are more places to choose from in the Kenwood area.
