This typical Chinese hotel caters more to the Chinese than westerners. That though, isit's charm as you experience Chinese travelling and life. The kang beds are hard and the breakfast traditional chinese. There is western style breakfast , but more hostel quality. Restaurant serves good food. Staff and manager are very helpfull.

I booked four Hotels and got cancelled by the four Hotels before I eventually booked this one. Reasons for the cancellation is because not all Hotels are licensed to accommodate foreigners because some amenities like toilet and shower might need to be shared. The result of not having an option was that this was the most expensive Hotel we stayed...

We were not staying in this hotel, but had a meal here. Shockingly overpriced for food they even charged us for our plates and cups. Rices was 6yuan usually 2 in most places, and rice arrived as we had finished eating. Food was ok, nothing special and a pity it was not hot. Service was disinterested as we were not...

This hotel is in a great location in the middle of the old city. Easy walk to everything inside the walls. The courtyards and furnishings are beautiful by day and nicely lit by night. The staff was genuinely interested in our happiness. They stored our luggage for the day and arranged convenient taxis to the high speed rail station. Breakfast...

Visually - truly a lovely, welcoming hotel. Central (in Old Town, within authentic City Walls). Staff warm, helpful. Enjoyed our stay. Lively Photography groups (chinese + foreign) looping thru here, during our stay. Do have hotel arrange p/up to-an-from Airport (saves u a struggle). Kindly accommodated us on a 2nd floor room. no neighbours. 3rd night it filled up -...

This hotel was sold to us as a five star hotel. The room was uncomfortable, dirty and the bed was very hard. We were cold as there was no carpet on the floor and the heating did not work efficiently. The staff were not very friendly and spoke no English. There was no bar or comfortable lounge area in which...

Great location at West Main Street in the old town. Lots of cafes and noodle shops near by. The hotel is nicely decorated, new and clean. Rooms are not sound proof, so guests are recommended not to talk loudly in the courtyards. It is nice to rest at the courtyards and watch stars above it at night. Room is small,...

First of all, the hotel is beautiful. Bathrooms are nicely appointed. And the location is excellent. Staff was helpful as well. The negatives... Beds were super hard. Because of the design of the place, if some people want to wake up early and start making noise and talk loud, you will hear it. Also, there was a strange urine-like smell...

This hotel was a great find. Situated in the old town and easy walking distance to great bars, cafes and restaurants plus all the tourist attractions. My friend and I were upgraded and were given a very comfortable room at the end of the courtyard. It was a large twin room with comfy beds and a large renovated bathroom. The...

Loved our stay at De Chao Ge. We're upgraded to a deluxe twin room as the manager thought we would be more comfortable. Check staff were lovely and helpful. Room is beautiful & spacious with a fantastic bathroom. Superb wifi! Good choice at breakfast. The courtyards are simply beautiful. It rained while we were there but this would be a...
