Both Scott and Madeline are some of the most accommodating folks you'll ever get to know. We love staying at the Andiron and when we're up in Mendocino it's the first place we call to see if we can get a room. Rates are very affordable and the rooms are very unique. And the beds? Like luxurious cloud puffs -...

This is one of those indie hotels that is not only indie but completely unique with an old-hollywood motif. The locally grown apples served at the afternoon happy hour got turned into apple jelly for the morning toast bar. There was no bellboy but peanut butter and jelly (the two watchgoats) were exceedingly polite. 10/10 would stay again

Everything about this place is FABULOUS....AND they have goats! The owners are delightful and entertain every evening in the reception area with wine and snacks. All the cabins are uniquely decorated in 50's kitch (not in the uncultivated taste way, in the FABULOUS way). The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, the decks are wonderful, and one can see...

We loved this place. Our family stayed in Curious and Curiouser on a cold February night. The rooms are funky and dated (on purpose). If you are looking for your typical sterile hotel - this isn’t the place for you. If you are looking for an authentic California experience that is clean and welcoming - this is it! We enjoyed...

Family feeling and pet friendly. Great amenities like hot tub, happy hour and light breakfast. The personable staff was very responsive to our needs and offered great ideas for outings and restaurants. We will be returning regularly.

This was almost like camping in the most fun way with the comforts of a feather bed and modern bathrooms. We loved the room "Curious". It had a telescope for star gazing and adirondack chairs on the patio. The owners are awesome and you really feel like they are opening up their home. Everyone in the 12 cottages get to...

We stayed here one night and really wished it could have been for longer. A fascinating place - each piece of furniture and object tells a story. Very clean and well-equipped. We are a family of 2 adults, and 3 kids and stayed in cabins Curious and Curiouser which are adjoining rooms. This worked really well for us. Lots for...

This is a place to try if you prefer weathered wood over over pastels, curious goats over lounging cats, and an open field with wildflowers over manicured gardens. Add some vintage hipster design and a friendly north coast vibe and you have The Andiron. We lucked into this place on about the third pass of looking for unique accommodations on...

We actually stayed here in May of 2014 for one night and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect place to stay on our road trip along Rte 1! The rooms themselves were older, but that was part of the appeal. If you are looking for a 5-star resort or brand new, modern bathrooms, I wouldn't recommend this place, but...

The Andiron is 11 one- and two-room cabins perfectly situated on five acres of meadow and woods on Highway 1 in Little River, California. Minutes away from everything - beaches, wineries, diving, hikes, Mendocino, breweries, good food - but quiet, relaxing, and fun, our housekeeping cabins and rooms are each entirely unique and reflect our love of everything vintage, salvage, rehabbed, and recycled. ... more   less
