We actually stayed here in May of 2014 for one night and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect place to stay on our road trip along Rte 1! The rooms themselves were older, but that was part of the appeal. If you are looking...More
I wish we had a week instead of a night. Everything about this place is fantastic. I always worry when they say "retro" it might be a clever way of saying shabby. It is spotless, every nook and cranny shining and clean. In every corner...More
This was our third visit to the Andiron, all three stays were in the connected rooms by the cabin nearest Rt 1, when you sit on the porch there are no cabins before you. This most recent visit was the best yet, the king bed...More
We booked 2 nights at the Andiron for our 5th wedding anniversary, and were not disappointed. Upon reception,we were greeted by the fabulous owners, Scott and Madeline. We made it in time for the happy hour reception, with the best Sangria I've ever had and some...More
I will preface this review by saying that Mendocino isn't "my" part of the coast. Sure, I grew up camping here and on the Sonoma coast as a kid, but as an adult, I've always gravitated more towards the accessibility of Marin or the relative...More

Hi Barbara, not sure what you mean by guesthouse -- the Andiron has a set of cabins (individual units). The town center of Mendocino is not walkable from The Andiron's cabins, there's a highway and it'd be dangerous. The Andiron is a small boutique type Inn so I don't believe they have a shuttle like larger hotels or chains. (I've never seen a shuttle.) Most people who rent the cabins have their own car. What you may lose in modern convenience you gain in delightful rustic character, if that's your thing.
