The rooms are small and it's a short walk to the Convention Center. This hotel is outstanding for a single occupant, especially for a short stay. The value is tremendous, especially compared to the large convention center adjacent hotels. It's a nice boutique experience that...More
We were in town for a wedding and the people at The Varden could not have been more helpful. I'd mistakenly booked the wrong night but fortunately they had a room and they let us leave our bags in the lobby until it was clean,...More
If you are looking for something different in Long Beach, stay at the Varden. Do not let the outside dissuade you. This is not a place for lots of people, children for example. The rooms are very small, with all space used to the maximum.It...More
My family reserved a room at The Varden for a wedding on The Queen Mary. We selected the hotel because it is much more accessible and walking distant to nearly everything in Long Beach. Value is good, especially with cocktail hour and continental breakfast they...More
This hotel has no elevator. Heads up if stairs are a challenge.Myself and my boyfriend travelled to the Varden at the weekend for one night. I booked a room last minute at the Varden and was pleasantly surprised.
The Varden is downtown Long Beach's first European style boutique hotel. After an extensive renovation , The Varden's unique design evokes the casual elegance of an upscale, boutique hotel incorporating the blend of historic and contemporary details with all the modern conveniences anticipated by today's traveler, blending style and afordabilty.

The Varden has a lot right next to it for parking with no extra charge so all is good on that point. Ask for a darker room if they have one, but we've never had a problem with noise or too much light and we stay on New Year's Eve. It's a boutique hotel concentrating on Service which is GREAT. Very compact rooms with high-end bedding and toiletries. It does have a tv, free wifi and wine in the early evening and coffee and continental breakfast in the morning. Lovely personal owners and staff. Have a great stay in Long Beach!
