The Tuscan Garden Inn was a nice surprise. I made the arrangements based on previous TA reviews. Our room was on the second floor (stairs, no elevator) in the back building (D?) which was away from the busiest street (property sits on a corner). The...More
If you are okay with cockroaches in your room, this will be an excellent stay. Maintenance sprayed the room with 2 different chemicals (made for a terrible reaction and smell in the room). Management wanted to spray the room again the following day...More
We did LA on a shoe string and this hotel provided everything we needed. Nice clean rooms, lovely friendly staff willing to give recomendations, and free breakfast! simple but did the job, I would highly recommend!

The area is safe until 8 P.M. During the day, Downtown LA is safe, except for Skid Row, the 1 square mile area around 3rd / 7th street and Alameda. Since the 1970s, it has been one of the neighborhoods with the largest homeless population in the US. Although most homeless people are harmless, some can be aggressive if you don’t hand them money. At night, some areas get empty and dark really fast and should be avoided. Neighboring areas such as Pico-Union, South Central, Westlake or Boyle Heights are best avoided.
