Detailed Reviews
We were pleasantly surprised with the Regency Inn - Los Angeles. We chose it because it was close to the event we were attending in Glendale, CA and reasonably priced for the area. It was rated a one star hotel on the web. However, we disagree. It was much better than many two stars we have stayed in. It has been recently remodeled. All the furniture is fairly new. Granite counters, slate flooring, coffee-maker, microwave, refrigerator, USB plug-ins in the lamps by the beds. There are no rooms on the first floor, and no elevator. Only a 2nd and 3rd floor. But that is the layout of the building. Parking appears to be limited. We checked in shortly after 3 p.m., so had no problem. We would definitely stay there again.

Our room was very nice and spacious, with a big bathroom and a comfortable bed. The shower was excellent and there were plenty of products provided. The room itself gets five stars. I'd happily stay in any hotel room like this one any time. The lady who checked us in was welcoming and helpful, and she explained how to use our wifi codes (a different code for each device).
However, we didn't think the location was particularly great . Downtown (and in particular Dodger Stadium, which was the main purpose of our visit) turned out to be a fairly expensive Lyft ride. And there's a reason why we needed that. This hotel claims to have free parking, and it does, but what they don't tell you is that there's nowhere near enough spaces for all the rooms. There's only about 12 spaces in the entire lot, and that's not even close to being enough. So we didn't dare to use our car for fear of losing our spot, hence needing alternative transport to get everywhere. When we returned from the baseball game later that evening, all the spaces were full and we were glad we hadn't driven.
So - we loved the room, and if this place had more parking (and maybe some breakfast too), it'd be a slam dunk five stars. But four will have to suffice!

We stayed here for three nights during the week and enjoyed ourselves. Parking is a little scarce but we always found a spot. Front staff were very kind. Rooms are renovated and clean. It‘s motel style so you could hear people outside, though. Really convenient to getting to Downton LA. Don’t let the outside of the building turn you off. It’s very nice actually. They were in the midst of some renos in the stairwell when we got there, and there is also no elevator and the rooms are on the second floor. Just a couple things to be mindful of.

+1
First of al!; Who in the world is writing these 4 star reviews? This place is scary. The smell is bad there is no elevator & no convenient way for the elderly or physically challenge to drag their bags to the 3rd floor. The stairs are leaning & crumbling & these ceilings look like Donaldson a scary movie. I wouldn't recommend this place to keep my pet in.

Rooms were very comfortable and clean . Showers were high pressure with lots of room to move around. We had the mini pullout which was great for that extra adult and kid but not good for anyone over 5 1/2 feet tall cause it was more like a twin size short.

If you choose this hotel based on the online reviews like we did, you will be pleased with your stay. We booked a room for 5 nights without knowing the area too well. The exterior is clean but plain and won't necessarily draw you in if you're just driving by. Don't let that fool you as the rooms are modern, clean and spacious. We appreciated the microwave, fridge and wood floor in our room. It's so much better than typical dingy, dirty, stained hotel carpet.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The owners were helpful with every question I had. They had plenty of dollar bills and quarters for change for the bus. Coffee and danishes are offered every morning. I witnessed the owner turn away a potential customer based on his obnoxious and rude behavior. They won't tolerate that at their hotel which makes a better stay for the rest of the customers. They are looking out for the best interests of everyone.
PARKING
Yes the parking lot is small and tight but if we managed well with our full size pick up truck (4 door full size bed)then you'll be just fine! We were the rednecks in the lot as L.A is all about the compacts and BMWs. The owner let us place a cone in our parking spot when we did take the truck out. The spot was a nice easy in/out long space at the back of lot. The lot is secure with cameras and the only way in or out is past the hotel office.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Nearby amenities include a two story Target store near highway exit less than 1/2 mile away. Or head other direction on Colorado toward Eagle Rock for restaurants, Jamba Juice & Starbucks.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
It turned out to be a great location for public transport to relieve yourself of the notorious L.A. traffic. The bus stop just outside the hotel services several bus lines including the 180/181 which runs to Glendale all night long just down the road to the Americas mall which includes a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. Or head the other direction to Highland Park station to catch the Metro gold line train to Union station downtown. From there you can head just about anywhere including taking the Express bus to Dodgers stadium. The express drops you off and picks you up in front of stadium to take you to/from Union station. The regular bus leaves you with a mile uphill walk to stadium gates. Our family of four rode to and from a 7:00pm Dodgers weekday game and felt safe. Be sure to purchase a tap card day pass for $2.00 at the Stop and Go store just down the street on Colorado Ave (closed on Sundays). The bus driver can then load the day pass with a $5.00 bill from you. The tap card can be reloaded each day and is good for years if you plan to return to L.A.

At first glance it seems like any other motel/ hotel. But the moment you walk into the office to get your room your first thought goes out the door. First of all the lady at the front desk was the most sweetest person you could meet. She makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. not like other places where they just want your money. Now the fee for the rooms are a tad bit more than some places but I guarantee you the rooms and service are all worth it. The rooms are immaculate clean clean clean. Big comfortable beds clean cushy rugs. Flat screen tv with microwave and lil fridge with water bottles. I can go on and on about this place so im gonna stop here. All in all Regency Inn is the best place to stay whether its for a day or extended length. My family and I will for sure come back anytime we need to get away. Thank You Regency for Being The Way You Are!!!!!!!!

The outside appearance of this hotel suggests a rundown hovel--but this is NOT the case. They are remodeling the rooms and we stayed in one of them. They are NICE!!! Clean and modern. Our room had a microwave, mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker AND electric tea kettle. There is no pool onsite--nor an elevator but that is stated clearly in the hotel description.
There are a few downsides--
1. Tiny parking area. If you arrive late, you will have an issue getting a spot. We were boxed in one morning by people who parked along the wall. Be prepared to not find parking if you come back late.
2. No pool --but such is life.
3. Not many restaurants around--you have to go looking around town to find something that is not fast food oriented.
4. No breakfast offerings--but having a small fridge helps if you bring your own stuff
For the price we paid to stay here--it was worth it. Hopefully, they will get all the rooms updated quickly so everyone can enjoy the comfy beds and modern conveniences.

Stayed for 3 nights, requested a first floor (ground floor for us Aussies) due to the number of bags we had. It was priceless, they had painted the sky and clouds with little birds on the ceiling, just like the ceilings in the casinos in Las Vegas. Rooms were large and clean. The cleaners did a great job each day. I think the first floor rooms are for the elderly as they have all the rails in the bathroom and a shower chair.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The two receptions girls Jess and Ingrid went out of their way to help us with some issues with tickets to Universal and Uber.

From Eaglerock you are very close to universal studios and away from most traffic. Inglewood is a little further SW and can take from 15 minutes to an hour from Eaglerock depending on traffic. Alternately Hollywood around Highland to Vermont area is good but more local traffic. Don’t recommend staying in Inglewood area ! Burbank is also good alternative or near Universal by 101 freeway. Btw, I live and work in these hotels daily.
It’s north of the main traffic, timing is everything. Depending on when you go it could be as little as 15 minutes or as much as an hour which is typical LA traffic patterns. It’s close to the 2 and 101, Universal is off the 101.
included as is free WiFi and parking
It can be as much as an hour depending on time of day or night. This property and area is much nicer and safer than the properties around the Westlake Wilshire area and far less expensive. A dump (if you can get it) around Staples is around $175 to $250 and I wouldn’t recommend walking to Staples Center just Uber or Lyft if you do stay close. I’m in LA 3 days a week and know the areas well day and night and go to the Staples Center regularly.
