Short Stories Hotel emerges as a stylish sanctuary that charms guests with its well-decorated rooms and tranquil yet lively vibe. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and aesthetic appeal, a few visitors have remarked on their compact size and occasional maintenance hiccups.
Despite complaints about costly parking and sporadic room service issues, the hotel's allure is bolstered by its delightful amenities and prime location close to key attractions. The service at Short Stories Hotel generally garners high praise for its friendly staff, though some guests encountered less-than-stellar encounters at the front desk.

Detailed Reviews
My family and I had a one night stay at Farmer’s Daughter, transiting from Canada back to Australia, and really liked the place.
It’s in a great location, opposite The Grove, and only a short Uber ride to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and the airport etc.
The hotel itself is more of a motel, with boho decor and funky furniture and fittings, set in a welcoming courtyard with a cool little boutique store in reception.
We didn’t have time to use them, but there is also a nice little pool, a table tennis table and a foosball table outside.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the adjoining restaurant Tart, and it’s incredible how chilled and quiet the place is, being only a few metres away from the hustle and bustle of Fairfax Avenue. We expected it to be quite noisy, but it wasn’t at all, and we all had a great night’s sleep.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, they stored our baggage securely for the day whilst we explored LA, and organised an SUV taxi to take us to the airport in the evening (we needed this larger vehicle as we were carrying snowboards).
There were lots of nice little touches, like the potato chips in reception, and the freshly-baked cookies in our room. One slight improvement I might recommend, as our daughter (age 6) has a nut allergy, is that perhaps a short note or list of ingredients could be left with the cookies. I don’t have any allergies, and thoroughly enjoyed eating them, but couldn’t risk sharing them with her as I didn’t know exactly what was in them (I think they were just chocolate chip, but wasn’t 100% certain, and didn’t want to risk a visit to the emergency room) - this is a very minor point, which won’t affect the majority of people, and overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend the Farmer’s Daughter to other visitors to this part of the world!

Thank you so much for the kind words... We try to pay attention to all the little details and make each nook and cranny count for the experience. As you discovered we are fortunate to have such an amazing location. It truly a very unique location that offers so much right out side the front door. I will be posting this for the entire staff to read. We wish the best travel experiences ever. ellen and peter

room was clean and I enjoyed the fact that it was QUIET!!Thats a rarity these days in a 3Star hotel in a big city, but I definitely appreciated that.Whitney was the concierge when I arrived on Sunday 10/18 and although I had a mishap with my credit card, she was understanding and accommodating with a pleasant attitude that helped keep me calm. My only cons are that there was no microwave oven in the room and the housekeeping was not scheduled to be done until after my 4th day due to their Covid restrictions,I booked a 6 night stay and I certainly did not expect to wait 4 days into my stay to have my room cleaned and sanitized and replacement of towels and tissue!Fortunately after I asked for a cleaning after my 3rd night I did receive a cleaning and towel and tissue replenishment.
Overall, a great location with the Farmner's Markert right across the street,Trader Joe's and CVS right down the street and pretty much centrally located with a pool and plenty of outdoor tables that provide a quaint and romantic atmosphere because of the clean furniture and candlelights. I dont know what those things with the fire inside are called(not fireplaces althought they have that) but those are cool!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We will make sure we mention your kind s words to Whitney. All these Covid Regulations are having us struggling a bit with the best model to keep. We are supposed to make sure the hotel is never more than 50% occupied. We are also asked to leave rooms dirty for 24 hours after a guests checks out. Housekeepers are never to be nears guests, etc. etc... In the end we had to make a few decisions about daily housekeeping that is really meant to protect you and the housekeepers. I understand this was not optimal but we felt it was the best compromise. Hopefully this will all end soon and you can enjoy the full experience. Until then please stay safe and travel well

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
When you have clean rooms available, charging $30 extra for a noon check-in is tacky and unfortunate. I'd rather pay more for a hotel that doesn't grab at every dollar they can get.
Also, please get that poor lonely parakeet a friend. If you're going to cage a flying critter please at least give him/her a friend to pass their time with.

A past guest let the other parakeet out of the cage and it flew off. That is the third time that has happened. Not sure why some guests feel the need to do this but some do. It is not our intention to have a bird by himself but it is also lost on me why anyone would open the cage, to begin with. The normal check-in time is 4 PM. This is listed on our website, emails, and all 3rd party sites. We understand that you do not like our policies and as you pointed out you would be happier to pay more somewhere else and we understand that. We wish you the best

High-priced. Valet parking. Bathroom mirror is lighted so you can only see the right side of your face. A bit noisy in the room because of no wall to wall carpeting. Clean and has good mattresses. Nice outdoor area. Good breakfast at the attached restaurant. Right across the street from CBS and the Farmer's Market. There is a kiosk to check in on. I couldn't get it to work, very frustrating.

This hotel is in a wonderful location, and ticks all the boxes if you love "Whimsical". But whimsy also means that you check yourself in, make your own key card and endure concrete floors when you wake up in the morning. Also, do not take a room at the front of the hotel or you may have to put up with klieg lights lighting up your room all night. As far as decorating is concerned, I think that The Farmers Daughter is having a bit of an identity crisis. It is "Farm" + "Art" + hallways painted jet black (why?) That all being said, it is a very clean hotel, the staff is professional, and the adjoining restaurant is wonderful.

This is the type of hotel that I’d normally like to keep secret and if they didn’t deserve the highest of ratings, I’d normally keep to myself. I stayed here for a week, with my husband joining on the weekend and was sad to leave by the end of it. The team are incredible, the housekeeping, the front desk and the restaurant team all went out of their way to make it a beautiful week, offering Nespresso pods, yoga mats, collecting Amazon packages and anything else I could ask for. Loved the non pretentious but stylish vibe that reflects through the design as well as the people. The restaurant has a relaxed, charming Mediterranean vibe and the food and cocktails are made with the freshest ingredients and filled with love. All in the center of West Hollywood, the location is walking distance from everything I needed, for once in LA I didn’t even feel the need to rent a car. Congratulations, can’t wait to come stay again.

This hotel is fabulous. Location is amazing. The staff could not be nicer (especially Juliette.) I came with my two young girls and we didn't want to leave. You feel very cared for at this hotel - there's a welcome cocktail (the staff was so sweet about giving my kids extra welcome lemonade); the bed is heaven; and the Jonathan Adler toiletries smell divine. The restaurant, too, is so yummy. The pool is small but was fine for us. I'm a huge review person - I read everything before I stay someplace. We all loved Short Stories and can't wait to return.

+1
This is the first time I stayed at Short Stories but my husband’s second time. This is a wonderful small boutique type hotel that is beautiful inside and was just opened in March of 2022. It has a stunning indoor-outdoor front desk and lobby area that spills out onto an outdoor enclosed patio area where there are lounge areas to eat and have a drink. The trees in this courtyard area have lovely lights that turn on at night and make for a visually stunning location to hang and enjoy the cool California weather. The pool is just off the courtyard with an entire wall of succulents as a design backdrop. Juliette and Kristina were wonderful greeting us at the front desk and making our stay extra special! The drinks and the food was delicious as well!! The rooms are super cool and are warm with beautiful linens and stunning furnishings. Bathroom had beautiful tile and I always had a nice hot shower. The interiors are comfortable and the room had herringbone wood floors and other textures to make for a casual but cool modern design. The property is made up of probably about 3-4 buildings that are only a few stories high, hence the name Short Stories. The location is perfect and across the street from the Farmer’s Market and The Grove so it was wonderful to simply be able to walk over and enjoy the restaurants and shops. I can’t speak highly enough of Short Stories Hotel and when we are back in LA we will be staying there again!

There is free wi-fi. Sorry I sunny know about the suite
I don’t know which side I was on- the view was not anything notable but there were hills in the distance, I don’t think the view from the other side was notably different, maybe you could see the Hollywood sign from there but not to the extent that I’d rearrange where I was.
That said , the room was very comfortable. The location is terrific and a few steps from the grove and farmers market and the hotel cocktail & dining space is VERY LOVELY, quite picturesque & the staff very nice & accommodating.
I’d seen something about views but based on my experience I don’t think that part of the experience was notable.
