Can't fault the hotel....friendly staff...great rooms....urban and trendy feel throughout!! Take plenty of 💰 because it is not cheap....but this is LA !! Great experience!! The only fault...there is no currency exchange in the hotel but soon found a local store...10 min walk away!!

And The Standard Downtown is a great perch! There are tons of restaurants within walking distance and a great rooftop bar as well. The staff could not be lovelier! I am a big Standard fan. Love the West Hollywood Standard too, and consider it my home away from home in LA!

Full disclosure- I assume I am not this hotel's target demographic (I am a hip, upper-middle class, middle aged woman). I would call this the Below Standard Hotel. They try to be cute by making the halls and rooms look like old (stodgy) corporate offices. What you get is a barren room with too few pillows, no room to put...

I am a graduate of Cornell University School of hotel management. Stayed at over 1000 hotels worldwide traveling on business for over 40 years. The rooms are all form but lack basic function and safety. The staff cater to 30 year olds as well as the unsafe rooms. Poor lighting, mattress lumpy old and uncomfortable. Pillows worn out and staff...

The Standard Hotel does not disappoint with their rooftop bar in the center of downtown LA. Great sunset views, drinks, and eclectic decor including a water bed canopy! Great for drinks with clients, friends, date night, or a solo trip!

I stayed for 5 nights and the experience was a good one. The room was big and comfortable, the staff were super helpful, and it was quiet (except Friday night, but I expected that). The parking was pretty expensive, as I'm not used to paying 40/day for parking, but people tell me that's LA. I think the minimalist thing is...

My wife and I were here for a week on a special occasion, We expected a trendy hotel with active nightlife in an interesting location, but what we did not necessarily expect was that the staff be so great across the board, From the first call to inquire, to the front desk staff and check-in, to the valet and porters,...

Great location! Safe area to walk around downtown and explore and lots to see. 5- 10 minutes walk from metro, buses, markets book shops etc Nice facilites, nice room really liked it, clean stylish and functional and on a quiet floor (5) on request because this is downtown L.A. so expect street noise and lights and weekenders for the roof...

I have reserved a medium room. After a late arrival after 10pm, I moved into a room, floor down. Unfortunately, very noisy road works are going on the street, just below my windows..After a big day of work, it's frustrating. Go back to concierge Desk, explain my trouble. Concierge offers me another room ... And not "a" room, but "the"...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
