Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles opened early 2014 in the historic United Artists building in Downtown LA. An ornate, storied and vibrant Los Angeles gem, Downtown is undergoing a renaissance. Built in 1927 for the maverick film studio, the UA theater and tower stand as monuments to a group of seminal American artists pushing out on their own.

Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly helpful staff and location is close to most shops in the downtown area. The expensive hold on the credit/debit card for charges ($200) is a bit much but Hey, its LA. Other than this I was happy at Ace Hotel

If your bored of the normal chain hotels and their bland / programmed service levels and formulaic attempts at design, then the Ace is for you. It want suit all, the beds are low but super comfy, there is some street noise but the hotel and its relaxed friendly staff make up for

What is the daily cost for valet parking?
I believe parking was around $38/day The valet is at the front and you can call the desk in advance to queue your car up beforehand....

Is the pool open and heated in the winter? What size is it?
Yes, pool is heated all year, it is a large jacuzzi rather than a pool for swimming in, but outdoor so a fab experience.

is there a doggie area?
Hi Mcardsol, We're a dog friendly hotel (actually, we love them) but although we don't have a dog park on our property, there are several small parks downtown where you can take your pup. Our Front Desk team can make some great suggestions and point you in the right direction. And so long as your pet is a service animal, you can also take him/her with you anywhere in the hotel. I hope that helps. We look forward to welcoming you and your four-legged buddy to Ace DTLA! Cheers!

Is it easier/better to fly in and out of Bob Hope Airport vs LAX?
Distance-wise, both Burbank Bob Hope Airport and LAX are around 18 miles to Ace DTLA. If you plan on taking a cab from the airport I would recommend flying into LAX as there is a flat rate into Downtown, and the metered rate from Burbank costs more than that. However, if you plan on taking a shuttle or public transit, both airports have FlyAway Shuttles that will take you to Union Station for a very affordable rate (currently $8, credit card only.) Once there, you can take a cab or bus to the hotel for under $12. Burbank Airport is significantly smaller than LAX and that can (usually) work in your favor when considering security checkpoint lines. You also get to walk on the tarmac and take stairs aboard your plane and well, that's just pretty cool. The main thing I would consider is the amount of traffic that will be on the roads when you land, in case you plan on having someone pick you up. Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions :)
