I love and trust the Kimpton brand… so it was a no brainer to book and pay a little more when my husband and I traveled to LA for a march madness game. Upon entry of the hotel, all things matched my expectations for a Kimpton. The room was nice but it felt like an upgraded by decor 3 star hotel. The room layout and set up was similar to a basic hotel room and didn’t have all the amenities in the room I am used to when staying at a Kimpton. NOTHING WAS WRONG or BAD. The room was just ok and not what I expected. The game room and bar were awesome and so fun to relax in after the game. We had some special perks through our travel agency. At first it wasn’t provided and checkout but when we informed the staff, they immediately took care of it! It was a wonderful stay overall- parking is $48!!! FYI

The location was very convenient to the Embassy of Finland which is where I was going. I'd say overall it was a reasonably good stay with comfortable beds and pillows so I did have a great night's rest. Wish they had room service. In a nice neighborhood location.

Lovely stay at Kimpton Palomar Beverly Hills. Diamond Status recognised. Upgraded to Skyline Suite. Welcomed with sweets, nuts, chocolate covered strawberries, a nice bottle of wine and 2 handwritten welcome notes. Very friendly staff, and excellent a la carte breakfast including freshly sqeezed orange juice. They even have a game room with pooltable, pacman and skee-ball. Would definitely stay here again.

The trendy vibe and the loungy vibe lobby is attractive but once you get into the room, you’ll realize the amenities and the overall is far below the standard of what a boutique hotel should holds . Upon checking , the morning staff at the counter reminds me of the bouncer or security at the night club entrance , checking my ID and ask me to provide documents with no greeting no facial expressions. It’s okey it could be a long overnight shift . I was drifted away by the ambiance already . Checkin into the room , the bathroom bathtub is so rundown with a dent with brown stains in it ! And the mirror frame is cracking all around the edges. It’s so visible can’t help staring at it while I put on makeups . The room is very basic , without kettle or fridge , no free bottle of water in the room , but they charge extra $29 for room amenities….! The Ac unit is extremely loud as it keep going on and off at night , and it’s right by the bed side . I would say this hotel is good for meeting friends at lobby area , not for people seeking comfort and quality

Horrible experience. Better stay at a Holiday Inn. Safe not working, took 3 calls and 50 minutes to fix. Hair in the bathtub, and no shower waterpressure. Noisy room. Internet connection soso. Beds are not long and mattress is uncomfortable. Breakfast choices are minimal, portions small, not hot and smacked on the table but the waitress.

Dear Wimster, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. You should not have to wait so long to get a working safe, there should be no issues with hair in the tub and water pressure. I am so sorry to hear the room was noisy and the wifi connection was not up to par. I am also sorry for the issues with the mattress and breakfast. I will be sure to share this feedback with our Directors of Food and Beverage, Engineering and Housekeeping. Did you by any chance voice these concerns while you were on property? We would have loved the opportunity to make it right for you before you departed. In the future, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I am so sorry for your experience but thank you for sharing it with us. I hope to welcome you back in the not-too-distant future. Best, Jackie Bastawroos Assistant General Manager Kimpton Hotel Palomar LA

It’s 1:30 am. I checked in this evening and the guy at the desk volunteered that the room was “feather free” per my request. I went to sleep only to wake up an hour or so later in the middle of a giant asthma attack (that’s what feathers do to me and it’s scary). Sure enough, everything on the bed was feathers. Quilt. Pillows. I texted the front desk (it was 12:45 at this point) and the guy was apologetic at first and said he’d send someone up right away. A few minutes later, a worker came to the door with two pillows and three blankets and dumped them on the bed and started to walk out, motioning for me to make it myself. Which I’m not opposed to doing, but this hotel room was 400$ a night and was already underwhelming (a lot of nickel and diming here). I asked the housekeeping guy to please make the bed (I was still wheezing at this point), but it was apparent that he hadn’t brought any his sheets with him just three blankets and two pillows, and that he was very unclear on the concept. So I called the gentleman at the desk, he came up and pretty much made a bad situation much much worse and started yelling and being abusive to me. Despite his claims that the housekeeping person was “highly trained” it became more and more apparent that he had no idea how to make the bed. I finally got them out of here and made the rest of the bed by myself, but I still cannot sleep I am furious that the Kimpton’s negligence affected my health and rather than hiring people who can deal with situations like this that should never have happened in the first place, the night manager thought it was okay to be an abusive bully to me because the best defense is offense. The final insulting PS is that I cannot sleep because the smell of the manager’s aftershave is so pervasive o can taste it. What has happened to the world?

Dear Elena O, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am shocked and embarrassed to read what happened during your stay. This is unlike our hotel and staff. We do take the health concerns of our guests very seriously. I am going to investigate this with our front office and housekeeping teams to see where we went wrong. Once again, I am so sorry and you should have never been put in this situation. If you are ever in the area, I would love for you to reach out to me directly so I can see wnat I can do for you. I really hope we get to welcome you back and make this right for you soon. Best, Jackie Bastawroos Assistant General Manager Kimpton Hotel Palomar LA

Pleasant hotel, beautiful lobby but the rooms are a bit outdated. But great location, around 5-10 minutes walk to the UCLA area. Was a very safe area especially in LA area, recommended for families traveling with kids. They had complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the morning as well as a Lyft Ride every day of your stay for a maximum of 2 miles. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

While the hotel may be on the smaller side, its is full of life here. Lots of things always going on. The rooms were very nice and clean, staff was welcoming and charming. When checking in, they told me about all the amenities of the property. Pool, restaurant, gym and the small game room. Was very impressed by the property. Since I have diamond status with IHG we picked our welcome amenity of the 2 free breakfast benefits during the check in, from there we went to go see our room. While we did not get a bigger room or a suite we did get a amazing view of Los Angeles from our room, we could see all the way to tip of the ocean around Culver City and Marina Del Ray. Truly beautiful. After settling in to the room, one of the employees came to our room to welcome me and my family and brought us a bottle of champagne to celebrate the new year. I thought this was a amazing touch to our stay and little things like this make the difference and goes a long way. We decided to turn in early in our room and enjoyed the night with the champagne. The following day we went down to the restaurant for breakfast. There in the restaurant we enjoyed a delicious breakfast my wife and son shared the chicken and waffles, while I had the standard American breakfast. Both were delicious. After breakfast we went over to the game room area and had a lot of fun. This isn't for little kids or anything like that, theses are full games to play with your friends or family. Ski ball, Pacman, Table Shuffleboard, Connect 4, Billiards, and even Pong. But its not the classic, its a new 4d Pong, or something like that. We played for about a hour or so in there. Was a lot of fun. From there we went back to our room and checked out of the hotel. For parking I parked 2 blocks behind the hotel since they had some free parking, and is in a great area that is safe when walking outside.

Check in 12/7/2023 Thursday late evening (after a long travel on the road) - checked out on 12/8/2023 Friday in the early morning. Room #802. PRINCIPLE: A hotel should NOT allow anyone in a room that is not 100% operational (or in order - all of the room's amenities have to work properly). 1st. Bedroom Lamp did not work (engineer came up and noticed the lamp was un-plugged said "housekeeping probably did it" - simple fix). 2nd. Alarm clock - engineer did not know how to work it and alarm does not go on after it is set (I ran a test on it, no sound or music. No instruction manual provided - should be a more basic easy to use alarm clock to be provided). 3rd. Bathroom tub/jacuzzi, not operating. Was very disappointed that this did not work (later the engineer came up again and said he remembered his boss mentioning that one of the rooms hot tub/jacuzzi did not work). Paid over $450+ for room. Front desk offered us to move to another room, it was 11:30 pm at night, and this would be a big inconvenience. Made the reservation days in advance, not 1 phone call once I made the reservation, nor the front desk notifying me of the room not being 100% when I checked in. Would you pay a lot of your own money for a hotel room at a 4 - 5-star hotel not being 100% operational or in order (especially during this economic inflation)? Front Desk along with the IHG customer /guest member services, both miss the principle of my complaint, frustration and concerns. If this is the brand along with its customer experience they represent, I would seek my company's lodging and hotel stays somewhere else. Hope this review helps everyone, as you may need to use caution.
