I lived in this hotel for three months in 1967. $3.00 a night. Nice bar downstairs and a coffee shop. No telephone in room, but who needed it. I worked three blocks away, and I really missed living there after moving out and getting an apartment.

We lucked into a top-floor corner room. Lots of light from the windows on two sides of the room, which you could open and feel the breeze from outside. Cool view, being right in the city. Had a home bedroom feel with the two beds not facing the same direction like most places do, and a big wooden desk. Came...

We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but it was spacious and I slept well. Our room had a decent size bathroom with a great shower (water pressure and fast hot water) but a small closet. The other same size room in our party had a tiny bathroom and bigger closet.

We spent the night here to visit the Staples Center for a Clippers. Though small and old, this hotel was very clean, beds comfortable and the staff pleasant & helpful. This place was by far the cheapest at $87. Two small double beds pretty much filled the room. There was a small chest of drawers, an apartment size refrigerator and...

I came to this hotel with my family last night for my America's Got Talent audition, and the light wasn't even working in the bathroom. The pictures online are very deceiving. The room was very small and the beds aren't even comfortable and incredibly small. My bestfriend, who is only 90 pounds and my little sister who is 80 pounds...

I was attending the L.A. Fit Expo and needed a moderate to low price hotel as I was on a budget as well as needing a decent rest stop for the duration of my stay at the LA Convention Center. I'd say this meets that. Upon entry after a 6.25 hrs of flight time, I got there 1:00 p.m. which...

I traveled to a business conference at the L.A. Convention Center that lasted three days. So, I needed three nights at a hotel within reasonable walking distance of the convention facility. When I booked I was grateful to find the Stillwell Hotel, charging only $75/night (compared with easily three times that amount for other nearby hotels). On arrival, I was...

The Stillwell Hotel was located in a great area. A block away from the high priced Sheriton. A ten minute walk to the Nokia Theatre, Staples Center and LA Convention Center. 5 minute walk to many restaurants, The Pantry, 7/11 and Rite Aid. Uncle John's Restaurant in the loby is great. Great walking all over downtown. We recieved what we...

I stayed at this hotel about a year ago now (they actually have been doing some updating since I stayed, too!). The hotel is very budget, but is in a very convenient location smack in the middle of downtown LA. It is about a block from a full size grocery store and is walking distance to LA Live (which is...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
