The historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel has been a legendary Los Angeles landmark since 1923. With exquisite Spanish-Italian Renaissance architecture, including stunning hand-painted ceilings, it's rich history is most noted for its connection with the Oscars - the founding banquet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was held in the Crystal Ballroom in 1927, where the original "Oscar" statuette was sketched on a Biltmore napkin, and eight Academy Awards banquets were held in the Biltmore Bowl during the '30s and '40s.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel. You can feel the history at every turn. The lobby area is stunning and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The surrounding neighbourhood can feel a little sketchy but we didn’t have any issues walking to or taking the subway which is right around the corner. Just be aware on the streets and on the subway for sure. The hotel was lovely and I would stay again for sure! 😊

Beautiful hotel, the history on all the walls of photos is very interesting and the beauty of the building inside is something else. Unfortunately, they really only upkeep the lobby and all public areas to a high standard and the rest of it, the rooms, corridors and pool is all in need to a lot of TLC. Our room was an executive room. First glance it’s huge and I love the feel of the room. When you settle in and start utilising it all though the beds should be next size up. Doubles are tiny and there was space for about 3 queens easily on one side of the room alone. All the wall sockets are so old they barely hold a plug in place and some don’t work at all. Windows are single glazed so you hear a lot of vent noise (this was experienced in two rooms). I did love the size of the room as we had 2 kids with us. Tv was big and we enjoyed some nights in. Shower was old and bath filled up and took ages to drain when using it. Good housekeeping staff kept our coffee topped up well and did a good job. Staff throughout were very accommodating when needed and nothing was ever a problem. Offered bottled water complimentary any time we asked. The pool area is very tired and the photos are misleading. This is in desperate need of an upgrade. The sauna is huge but doesn’t make you break a sweat whatsoever. The pool is way too cold. Dingy lighting and just so old. Old fountain in the wall is great but the horrible brown rusty muck around the drain is so off putting. The whole place is like that. No hairdryers in changing rooms either. Didn’t like the pool area at all. It’s beautiful but I would only visit to view it and not stay again. I felt safe around the building though, considering what Hollywood boulevard is like etc I didn’t feel unsafe around the streets surrounding it and there are some lovely independent coffee shops around the Corner if you’re sick of Starbucks. Great location for transport too.

We wanted to return to The Biltmore as that is where my husband proposed 25 years ago! We were greeted so warmly at the Bell stand and by everyone else during our stay….including a chance meeting with the General Manager, Jimmy Wu! The Biltmore’s activity level is not as in the past, but she remains so magical and romantic!
