This is such a beautiful property! The lobby and the staff were so warm and inviting. Loved our room which was very clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was great and the bar had great drinks. Since it was really chilly we didn't go in the pool but there were always people in it so it must have been heated. A very cute gift shop had fun stuff to look at.
Whenever I’m back in LA I always stay at the Garland… It’s central, it’s beautifully run and for Los Angeles, the prices are actually reasonable! Despite that I’m not an enormous fan of 70s retro, I actually kinda love what they’ve done with the place!🧡 The rooms are delightful, comfortable, the beds are perfect… Not too soft just firm enough.. Love the Lather brand products they feature in the bathroom… Everything feels luxurious without one’s having spent a kings ransom. Many many many years ago I recall it was the Howard Johnsons… After all those years and several incarnations, it’s evolved once again, it’s immensely popular and like I said, very very well run.. The staff at the reception desk are always helpful, welcoming and courteous, and the Front Yard restaurant is excellent!!…
Loved our stay here for 4 nights which we used as our base. Great feel and retro vibe. Friendly staff through the hotel and the Front Yard restaurant which we also enjoyed. Just wish it was warmer so we could have used the pool which looked great.
All i can say what amazing hotel. it was my first time in LA. I stayed at the Garland for 4 nights in January 2023. we really enjoyed our stay here. Staff are excellent. very helpful. We used the free shuttle bus to Universal Studios and City Walk which i think is great service from the hotel. this hotel got a really nice vibe to it. our room was near the back of the hotel. the room we couldn't fault. it had everything we needed. not much outside the hotel. There is Starbucks and few shops 10 minute walk away. We used Uber to get about which was cheap. Would i stay here again? oh i cant wait to go back.
The hotel is lovely. The location may put people off but using the free cable car to the metro station this opens up Los Angeles area to you. Universal Walk way is a lovely way to spend a day/ night without paying for entry in to the park. If you walk out to the left there are some restaurants/ shops. The staff are brilliant; pop into see Maddie in the Store she will assist you in planning your visit & give you the best advice. Bedrooms are lovely with very comfortable beds & very clean. Loved the decor - very Californian! When on metro - watch out for the homeless - no one bothered us but was slightly scary. Overall, loved our stay at the Garland & in LA.
We enjoyed our three-night stay at the Garland. Our room was quiet and had everything we needed. We were able to park very close by. We had dinner in the FrontYard which was excellent. We also had a light meal from the lobby bar which we enjoyed. There is a free shuttle to Universal and the metro station which is one stop from Hollywood Boulevard. The one disappointment was that I asked the best way to get to SoFi stadium and concierge had to look it up on the internet which I could have done myself. What I wasn’t told, but fortunately found out for myself, was that I could use the shuttle bus to start the journey. I had been recommended an Uber!
I stayed at The Garland for 6 nights at the end of December and New Year with my partner and young daughter. We were visiting LA from the UK for a sightseeing break as we wanted to visit the Warner Bros studios for a special holidays tour and Universal studios for NYE. We had lots of fun in LA but found parts of it, like the metro and downtown area to be quite intimidating. The Garland felt like a safe haven to escape from the hectic city. We loved the quirky and unique decor. We stayed in the El Dorado building in room 313 opposite the lift. I was worried about noise from the lift and road but the room was quiet and we slept well. The room was large, clean and comfortable. It was very convenient to have the bar, restaurant, pool and shop on site. The area surrounding the hotel also felt reasonably safe and we walked to nearby shops and cafes (recommend Vivian’s millennium cafe for breakfast and City Wok for dinner) . As we did not have a car, we used the regular trolley service a few times, which was really handy. All the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast at The Front Yard restaurant on site was so good and kept us full until dinner time. If we ever return to LA then I wouldn’t hesitate to book The Garland again (we did a package through British Airways).…
The Garland welcomed me before my arrival and the warmth and friendliness I encountered over my 3-day stay were remarkable. The property is charming from the lobby area to the pool and bar to the delicious and vibrant restaurant, with options to eat inside and out. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable in every way. Even the Shop is special with items carefully chosen from California that are varied and responsibly created. The location is easy and quiet. Above all, the Staff is caring and helpful in every way!! Even the price is user-friendly and the hotel's collection of Toys for Tots was a first for me--it reveals the ethos guiding this remarkable property. I look forward to my next visit.
We absolutely loved The Garland Hotel and Bar & The Front Yard restaurant! The staff was amazing we will be back!!!! Great hospitality, decor all the food and drinks an A+. The pool and hot tub wonderful
We stayed at the garland for 4 nights recently. Yes the freeway can be heard and it disturbed my husband more than me, I wear ear plugs. Taxi from LAX to here was $90 plus a tip, better than we thought. One stop on the metro straight to the Chinese theatre etc so not a problem. There is a free shuttle to universal and the metro from the hotel, make sure you check pick up times, they were not clear and we had to walk back one day. Housekeeping a little poor, forgot to top up things, had to ask for mugs and milk. The drinks were pricey but that is everywhere not just in this hotel, $9 for a lager. We also visited San Diego, was the same there. The hotel has a nice vibe, breakfast buffet is good. The bar had a theme night twice which was disappointing as did not have the veggie option that was offered. We used the metro a lot and was not an issue apart from the amount of homeless people on there, it would appear they travel the metro to get rest, it’s not manned like our rail and tubes in UK, it’s very sad to see the huge amount of homeless people in LA.…
