Nestled by the San Pedro Marina, the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel San Pedro - Port of Los Angeles holds a coveted position that's lauded by guests for its proximity to local attractions. The hotel's amenities, including the shuttle service and breakfast, generally receive a thumbs up, although some note they could benefit from an update. While the cleanliness of the hotel meets expectations, the rooms have drawn criticism for maintenance, noise, and being outdated, contributing to a sense of diminished value.
The staff's friendly demeanor is often highlighted, even as some visitors recount less pleasant interactions. Additionally, the hotel's atmosphere is sometimes marred by early morning protests that disrupt the peace.

My friend and I are cruisers. We often leave from Port of Los Angeles and have always stayed at the same hotel the night before we sail. This trip, we decided to do something different and we stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton. We will not make that mistake again.
The Hotel is very tired and needs sprucing up in the rooms. The fridge in our room looked like someone had scratched it all up with something. The walls were dirty and just not a welcoming atmosphere. This may sound trivial but I practically had to get on my hands and knees to find the roll of toilet paper that was tucked so far under the bathroom counter that I couldn't see it.
When we have arrived at other hotels before check in time, we have always been told our room was ready and we could go in. This time we were told to come back in an hour. That was fine. It was 2:30. We went back at 3:30 and were told it would be another half an hour. I do realize check in time was 4:00 but if they didn't want us there until 4:00, then tell us!! When we did go back at 4:00, the lady said "your room SHOULD be ready now" It was and so it should have been. There should not have been even a question of it being ready by check in time.
I agree with a lot of the reviewers about the union protests. I believe the hotel should have some sort of disclaimer telling people there is a labour dispute so people have a choice of crossing into the hotel. Had I known, I would not have booked this hotel. I was a union employee my entire working life and would have respected the worker's protest and not patronized the hotel.
The one bright spot of the hotel was the shuttle and the shuttle drivers. One driver took us to a restaurant a few miles away and picked us up after dinner and the other driver took us to the pier the next morning. Both drivers were very personable and got us where we wanted ago.

This is a great place to stay if you are leaving for a cruise. The hotel and rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. They have a shuttle service that will take you from the hotel to the cruise port. We had dinner at a nearby restaurant and they took us and picked us up from there. I will stay here the next time I leave out of LA.

We almost changed our plans based on the reviews of the Port Pedro DoubleTree hotel but, are happy that we didn't. The hotel staff were very accommodating as was Peter the general manager. Our room was very clean and spacious, as were the common areas and specific needs that we had were met and even exceeded. Our only disappointment was the limited menu selections as well as the high prices charged for the food. The hotels location near the cruise center, made staying here that much more enjoyable and the free shuttle to the Port, stress free. Will stay there again, should the opportunity arise.

We stayed here for a night before a cruise, like a lot of other reviewers. When we arrived, the front desk staff was very nice and helpful. We got onto the list easily for the cruise shuttle the next morning. There was only one seat left on each of the two 10:00 shuttles, so hopefully my wife and I will end up at the same ship.
We got a marina-view room that had big windows and an amazing view of the boats. The room was clean ‘enough’. The carpet was iffy, so I just didn’t look very close. There were a lot of charging ports by the bedside. The shower had great water pressure and was nice and hot. The beds were comfy and they had a lot of pillows. The heat/AC unit is controlled by a remote control. It takes about 5 minutes to start blowing when the heat is turned on.
The location of the hotel is pretty isolated and there weren’t any restaurants within walking distance. We were stuck with Uber since the onsite restaurant was closed between lunch and dinner. The walk around the marina and park, close to the hotel, was relaxing.
The breakfast was fine but a bit pricey for what you get. Usual hotel restaurant prices.
They have a shuttle to take you around within five miles and will pick us up at the ship for a night’s stay upon our return to port.
All-in-all, it was a really nice stay and I am hoping our next stay, in 10 days, will be just as pleasant.

I have made some bad hotel choices recently so I’m happy to say this was not one. My main concern was not having that awful loud vibrating and useless air conditioner on an exterior wall.
This hotel has mini-splits in the room, which is great.
Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast.
Our booking included breakfast for just $8 more via a 3rd party website. It’s actually a made to order meal with good options and generous portions.
If you have Hilton Honors you get to choose your room in the app on the morning of check in. I picked 279 which was nice with a window on 2 walls so we could see the ships out one window.
Bath products are Crabtree and Evelyn. Very nice.

Me and my family of 6 stayed at the Double tree hotel before we boarded our cruise, the hotel has a smell and the room wasn't all that clean tub was left dirty with pet hair all over the room, the wall paper was pealing off the wall and the room had a smell. The Front desk lady who is employed their named Elizabeth was very nice and had good customer service . I had talked to a lady named Monica and she is very rude&loud. And there is a security guard who works Friday and Saturday morning is very helpful with a good attitude. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to stay at they can do much better especially Monica she needs to work on her customer service because it's horrible need to upgrade since it's by the water that's why I give one star

The place is nice, but outdated. The first room we were given smelled like it had water damage. Two of the lights did not work and when I dialed zero on the phone to notify the front desk, I continually heard a dialtone. The second room was better. However, when it got chilly, I struggled to figure out how to operate the heater. Basically, the thing heated up for 10 minutes and then went back to blowing cold air. I just turned it off and slept in my jacket! For two guests staying for three days, the room had two bath towels, two face towels and one hand towel. There was no pan or paper in the room either. The wall as are paper thin, so if you’re a light-sleeper like me, make SURE to bring your ear plugs! The people are nice enough but the place just needs updating.

This hotel is in a lovely location along the San Pedro Marina. It could be so much better though. The hotel is in desperate need of a refresh. The rooms and common areas are very outdated, in disrepair and old. Our AC was making loud noises, there are no bed skirts on the beds, so you see the unsightly frames and under the bed. The pillows are dreadful and cheap with feathers stabbing you in the head, neck and face. The feathers poke out everywhere. They are simply awful. The tub/shower is grossly stained and mold everywhere. Even the common areas, like the lobby, are dated and lacking. AND, the guy who seems to always be the one who checks us in (we have stayed here many times due to location--- but this may be our last) is always so very, very rude and lazy. God forbid he should have to work!!! I don't know his name, but he is black with a head of dreadlocks. He should be fired. He is ALWAYS rude. What a shame as this place could be so nice with good staff and a refresh.

Great location for pre-cruise. Very comfy beds. Extremely rude front desk clerk! We have attempted to reach hotel management four times since our check-in as desk clerk argued we had two rooms reserved which was inaccurate. We booked one room and later prompted to upgrade to a room with a view; which we did; however, the system created a second room reservation instead of canceling the basic room without a view. Our card was charged for both rooms. So far, management has not returned our calls, emails or messages. We definitely need to be refunded for a room we didn't want...only one room was needed/reserved.

The room and service is impeccable. Checking in was smooth and was given a bottle of water and hot cookie (absolutely delicious)! Breakfast area is small. Unlike Asian hotels, breakfast is not buffet style and order from menu. Room doesn't have bottled water and no flask for boiling hot water. The room numbers are not in sequence and kinda confusing. My room has an audible hound and this pulled my rating from 5 to 4.
