Very friendly, clean and a great location. I would stay here again. Easy walk from the Santa Monica pier. French fry place down the street HAD INCREDIBLE FRIES. The sidewalk restaurant out front door and left was awful.

Thanks for staying with us! This neighborhood truly has a ton of choices for food & drinks within a short walk, so if one spot doesn't strike your fancy, there's always another to try! Our staff is always happy to help with recommendations for restaurants, cafes and delivery options in Venice.

This little hotel was everything we expected and more. Right in the heart of Venice on the boardwalk. From the moment we walked in the hall we knew we were at the right place. The ride in the elevator is nostalgic. The room was perfect, quaint and quiet for being on the boardwalk. The staff is exceptional. No parking and...

For the price, the condition could be better, but for a centenarian building couldn't ask for more. The location is perfect, the view is very good and the roof top wonderful. During the day have lot of people on the street, many street art, stores, animations and nice beach, however at night is a kind of desert without night live....

Rooms are very clean but too small. The beds were not comfortable and it kept squeaking all night with every little move.. Staff were very friendly and did their best to help .. This part of Venice beach might not the be most elegant part of Venice beach but it is very close to the lively boardwalk and just few...

We appreciate your honest appraisal of your stay and we apologize for the squeaky bed. I sent you a message via TripAdvisor and hopefully you and I can communicate so I can figure out what room you stayed in and have the bed replaced. Warm regards from the California coast...

The hotel is old and in the midst of upgrading, however the hotel staff (particularly Daniella) was very helpful with parking (not on site) and attentive to our needs. The rooms / suites are on the small side and not air conditioned but they are basically used for sleeping purposes only as one can easily spend the entire day taking...

Very cute hotel right on the beach. At first I thought the area was a bit sketchy (I'm a NY'er so I'm used to sketchy areas) during the day - but at night was VERY quiet. We walked everywhere - Abbott Kinney, the canals....both very close. We uber'ed it to the Santa Monica Pier - only $5! Our room was...

Loved everything about this hotel. Room was great, great breeze coming through the windows, loved the old fashioned elevator, the roof top deck was perfect, use of beach chairs & umbrellas was an added bonus. But the best part was the customer service. Daniella was fabulous!!! She went above & beyond to accommodate us & help us out. Could not...

I stumbled upon this place on wotif when looking for accommodation while on Venice Beach on a road trip down the Californian Coast...........and what a little gem it is! This has got to be the most comfortable, clean hotel we have ever stayed in. The atmosphere of this over 100 year old hotel includes brick walls, narrow halls and a bird-cage elevator. It's location is phenomenal...in the middle of Venice beach boardwalk! The staff is friendly and professional. I would recommend to not miss this.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
