The Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX offers a stay that has garnered a spectrum of reactions. Guests have praised the hotel for its clean and comfortable rooms, yet some have pointed out that they appear dated and occasionally come with unexpected issues. While the friendly and professional staff often receive compliments, instances of slow service, especially at reception, have been a point of contention. The value proposition has been questioned due to unanticipated fees. Amenities like the complimentary airport shuttle and dining options are well-regarded, though the pool and valet parking have fallen short for some visitors.

This hotel is my "goto" hotel in Los Angeles. I love the service here. There are 4 people I'd like to Thank for making my stays comfortable.
Front Desk Manager, Jose Santana: You are exceptional manager, ready to listen and take care of the concerns of of your guests. I saw you handle a guest who was upset about the stay and your customer service was exceptional. When that guest left the counter, she was happy and content. That is hard to do when someone is angry due to lack of sleep.

Valet Jona C: Your customer service is exceptional. Every time you are on duty, my car is ready and available. You are acutely aware of the time I leave for my business appoints everyday and have the car ready to go. You always have a great "Good Morning" for me, every time you are on duty. Know that good morning makes my day.

Banquet Manager Louis: What can I say about him. I met him in 2016, when one of the Organizations I am a Director of, The Caribbean Cricket Club of Los Angeles, worked on the Annual Banquet of Southern CA Cricket Assn. @ the hotel. Since then we have had a couple of banquets there prior to Covid. He has provided us w/the best service we could have hoped for. It is always a pleasure to see him on my visits to LA and your customer service qualities are exceptional.
Lastly, Hotel Manager Christian Hellot: Your attitude towards the guests flows thru to your staff. I see it in the service they provide. I have to say Thank you and wish you a long career with the corporation. I will definitely touch base w/you on my next visit to LA. Once again, Thank you for everything.

To all the travelers reviewing my post, you will definitely enjoy your stay @ this Sonesta @ LAX. It is centrally located and easy on the eye. I hope my review helps w/your decision to stay here and enjoy your visit to Los Angeles.

The Crowne Plaza LAX has become my "go-to" hotel when overnighting near LAX. This property is well-maintained, and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. They also offer some nice benefits for IHG Rewards Members at the top tiers.

Even though the property is older, it is well-maintained and the rooms are always clean.

The top floor houses their Executive Lounge, which is open for breakfast and evening snacks. The breakfast offerings are a bit limited, but are always plentiful. Evening snacks usually consist of an assortment of veggies, crackers, cheeses and one or two hotel appetizers, and you can purchase beer & wine.

If you aren't able to access the Lounge because of your IHG status (It's only offered to Spire Elites or those that book a room on the Executive level), there is no complimentary breakfast offered. They do have a very large breakfast buffet, in addition to a "snack bar" in their lobby that sells grab and go items as well as coffee drinks.

For Platinum level members, you do get a discount card for their restaurant (10% off of $50); that card entitles you to a complimentary order of their homemade chips and onion dip as an appetizer. For being an airport hotel, the restaurant, the Century Taproom, prices are very reasonable and offers a great variety of food. Service here is always attentive. Nima, one of the dinner servers, is exceptional!!

The hotel offers complimentary airport shuttle service, running about every 20 minutes.

have been using this property for many years as my stay at LA airport hotel but not sure I will return. Found that services as a gold member are less than before but the real issue is I love a shower and the water pressure in the room was pathetic - sink tap was so slow and mixer very poor - had to use bottled water to wash my teeth as tap so slow. Shower pressure also poor and whilst I understand there can be water shortages and they have cut back this was ridiculous. Am coming back thru LA in 4 weeks but will find somewhere else to stay

Here are a few observations from my stay.
1) I checked in and receive my room key. Once I got to the room, the key did not work. I had to haul all my luggage back to the front desk so they can reprogram the key.
2) You will hear every plane that takes off and lands, so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.
3) The hall had not been vacuumed in sometime. There was a pizza box just sitting outside a room and a cup of trash in front of another room. I saw a housekeeper on the floor, so I was certain the housekeeper would pick it up. The next day as I walked to check out, the trash was still there. I would think the housekeeping manager or supervisor would walk the floors to ensure trash is not laying around.
4) The free shuttle is a nice option, but if your plane leaves in two hours, grab an Uber. The day we were to leave there was a lot of people waiting for the shuttle. Even with an Uber, It took us 45 minutes to get to our airline due to the traffic at LAX.
5) The valet, restaurant bar staff and the coffee shop staff we very pleasant. The front desk staff did their job, but no one there went above and beyond.
6) Facility Fee. Facility fee is a $15 charge (I believe per night) that they charge you because “they made these service available to you.” The made available the pool, gym and coffee in the room (that is free in most hotel) available so they charge you $15. I didn’t use any of those things. They made the business center “available”, another service I didn’t use. You can do everything on your cell phone, iPad or computer, so why is there even a business center. The Shuttle was “made available”, but due to the crowding and speed of the shuttle, I took an Uber. I suspect the real reason for this fee is, so they can claim to have a lower room rate than the competition. You will book the lower room unaware of the $15 fee. They probably have it hidden somewhere in small letters.
Don’t get me wrong, when I stayed overseas, I was happy to pay their resort fee. Because I USED the amenities at the resort. This will be the last time I stay at this Crown Plaza; I will look for somewhere without the extra fee next time I am in the area.

My room was nice. Furnishings were of good quality, as were the bed linens and bed. It's a noisy place - outside and in, but it's a big hotel. Staff was friendly. There was no information on the hotel website about the airport shuttle, which runs continuously. The hotel is in fairly good shape. Some parts are nice, some are worn. I had some leftovers, and it was handy there was a microwave to use on one floor. But the microwave was gross! Crusted on food made me think it hadn't been cleaned recently. The reason I mention supporting workers is that they add a 5% surcharge (4% for room service) to offset minimum wage increases. The owners apparently resent having to pay a still-unlivable minimum wage to their employees, and they're going to make the guests pay for it. The $17 daily fee is another turnoff. Find a hotel that supports the workers providing the physical labor. The Westin doesn't have this surcharge. I won't return.

The hotel is right across the boulevard from LAX and shuttle service is provided in a timely manner. Our driver as well as the front desk clerk were friendly and efficient as we were in our room rather quickly. The lobby is bright and spacious, but the decor in the upper hallways reminded me of a funeral home. Our room was fairly large with a clean bathroom and the furniture was in good condition. We could barely hear the aircraft during the nighttime hours and the halls were silent as well. The restaurants were quite pricey with limited menus and completely empty at dinnertime. So we walked next door to the Sheraton for dinner which was a little more vibrant. The lobby restaurant, Brasserie, was busy in the morning as we had a satisfying breakfast with top notch service. There is also a small gift shop off to the side of the lobby where I purchased a $3.69 candy bar !!! The Sonesta provides a clean, adequate hotel experience for an airport overnight stay on a boulevard of cookie-cutter high end hotels very close to LAX. No room to complain, as I found my room on Hotwire.com for $100 before tax of $25 and resort fee of $17 ( two bottles of water and a shuttle ride). Not bad compared to the local competition.

I was very impressed with my room. It was very spacious, modern, and very clean. Room service was also accommodating when ordering food after hours, as I had business into the late night.
Unfortunately, there were some things that I weren't very happy with and will no longer stay at this hotel. The shuttle driver was extremely rude ad seemed irritated by my presence. I'm just a single 110 pound woman, so not sure what his problem is. Didn't even touch my suitcase as I attempted to struggle. He just barked "bring it here." Really? What a disgrace.
I noticed there were men in suits, maybe security, who appeared to be 'manning' or covering the floor. They were pretty intimidating. I've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels around the world that had high profile clients and have never seen such a display.
These men were pretty intimidating. As I was walking out of the lobby restroom, one of the "suits" was mean mugging me and starting me down. Not all dark skin people are a threat! As a guest, I thought it wasn't cool and made me uncomfortable, especially as a female solo traveler. I travel to LA once a month for business and will never stay at this hotel again. As a female solo traveler, I need to feel comfortable in my surroundings, and I didn't feel that. Extra security is fine and appreciated, but they shouldn't be looking at hotel guests as if they want to fight. I will be taking my business to another hotel, as will my clients.

My wife & I stayed here one night before a cruise from San Pedro, after travelling from UK to LAX. Found the hotel acceptable for our needs, close enough to the Airport to get a shuttle quite easily. All the staff we dealt with were most accommodating and helpful, our room was spacious with comfortable beds, nice bathroom and all the facilities we needed. Never used the main Restaurant in the evening, as we were so tired, just grabbed a Pizza, and ate in our room. Morning Buffet Breakfast quite varied, though we didn't go for full breakfast, and would recommend this hotel to anyone in similar situation to ourselves. I gather from our agents that the cost was quite reasonable and only 30 minute trip to Cruise Port

A friend and I were staying in the area and while we don't usually stay here, we decided to give it a go. The location was in a solid place and parking was a little complicated but not impossible to figure out. You can go through a side street into the parking area instead of the main one but the parking location is shared with a few other hotels so you have to climb to about level 3? or 4. They're all marked appropriately but it took us a few tries to figure it out on the first go. Parking is a little bit more expensive than other places but it was perfectly fine as we didn't stay too long.

The hotel in and of itself is a very nice hotel. Everyone working there was sweet, kind and courteous. There was one woman we kept coming across who worked at the cafe and she was so sweet and made the best coffee. They had alternate milk which was an added bonus of appreciation.

We did have a moderate 4pm check in and that was great but the only real kind of meh part was the hotel room/hotel hallways. The hallways were a little outdated but nothing terrible. The rooms weren't dirty but they werent the cleanest. We found some goldfishes snacks under the bed and in the air conditioning unit on our last day (I should have checked earlier) and our hotel room had a rip in the carpet right where the metal partition was between the carpet and the tile. Obviously this was not a big deal for us as we could move around it and it was obviously from wear and tear but it was a little dangerous if we hadn't been paying attention. The shower was okay - I don't know how else to explain it. The water pressure was fine, the tub itself was fine and kind of like everything else just simply fine. I wasn't mad at it but I was expecting a little bit more attention paid to it.

The hotel overall was a perfectly fine place to be. There wasn't any extra bells and whistles but the room did exactly what it needed to be. A location between LAX and where we were going, have good parking and a comfortable place to sleep. Definitely would recommend staying here if you need someplace to stay on a budget, but definitely be more communicative with the staff if you need anything. We definitely should have done that.

There was confusion between booking and reservations. Manager that it would be a good idea and great customer service locking our family out of our rooms. When I called downstairs to have them unlock our rooms thinking that our entry cards may have been demagnetized, the lady downstairs tells me she will have security unlock the rooms. A few minutes later security walks up to our family and tells us its do to a payment issue. I proceed downstairs to resolve the issue and am told by the front counter lady in a rude manner yes our room has been locked due to non payment. Before she can finish her sentence the manager intervenes and tells me only one out of the two rooms is reserved for 4 nights the other room is only for one night. I raised my voice at him and asked him this is how you treat your guests? I showed the manager the email that I was charged for two rooms $2302.00. You couldn't have called my cell phone? You couldn't have left me a note underneath my door? Where did you get your training to deal with hotel guests? To make matters worse the daily parking charge they billed me for $30 per day doesnt even work? Had to pay full price to leave last night otherwise end up being late for our dinner reservations. I'm a Hilton Honorary member and have never been treated so disrespectful. I will never stay at a Crown plaza hotel ever again!!!

I actually walked because I love walking but I don’t recommend it with a heavy suitcase as the footpath is uneven and there was a random crazy person yelling at traffic blocking the footpath. It was about 20 minutes to walk and difficult to find the path that led to the street. Take the shuttle would be my advice.
