Pros: We check-in a bit early (~1 pm) but was glad to find the room is already ready for us.

Hardware of the hotel is up to expectation (view on the 70th floor lobby/ spire bar etc) for a 5 star hotel. We did not have time to check out the gym and pool so couldn’t comment on that.

Cons: Housekeeping could be more attentive as there were some stains overlooked. She also left a cleaning cloth on our toilet stool on our second night of stay.

The hotel seems to assume everyone use the bathtub so they did not check the body wash bottle in the walk-in shower. It was emptied so we told housekeeping to refill it before we left the room, but she instead just placed a new one at the bathtub side which we were not able to remove from the in-built claw.

There was no “do not disturb” sign or button so housekeeping started knocking at 10 am. We told her to wait 30 min but she again knocked before that. It is a bit weird to have standard check-out time 11 am but housekeeping to start from 10 am.

There was a mandatory $25 beverage credit which I planned to use for 3 small bottles of water or a pint of peroni in the lounge/bar. Both were unavailable so it is better if they could update the menu on available items regularly. It was also not mentioned that the credit does not waive the tax and gratuity (18%) part so I was a bit surprised to find out there were still charges even when my total bill was under $25. For people not familiar with this beverage credit system I suggest better just treat this as mandatory tax by the hotel as you always have to pay sth extra even if you order <$25 stuff.

The check-in email mentioned free news stands available but when we asked concierge we were told they don’t have newspaper in fact. The elevator design was a bit inconvenient as we must first go to lobby (70th floor) then go all the way down to 35th floor where we stayed. Expect at least 5 min extra time whenever you step off from room to go to the ground floor building entrance.

Overall, I would still give a 4.0 out of 5.0 for my 3 night stay as the hotel does deliver in the hardware part. For international travellers don’t expect the same 5 star experience but if you tone down to American standard the hotel does outperform from the other ones in LA downtown area.

First time in 23 years for a trip with just my wife and I. We stayed 9 nights. Staff was amazing, atmosphere was very upscale but not stiff, and the room/setting/food, well, amazing is an understatement.

A hotel offering very comfortable rooms with a magical view (be careful to ask for a high floor).
The roof top of the 73rd floor offers very good cocktails and a menu of delicious dishes.
The service, however, left something to be desired...
(uneven with some very good and some very bad.)
The swimming pool is pleasant (but be careful, some deckchairs are torn and I don't find it normal that you have to pay extra to be able to lie down on deckchairs with mattresses!)
The gym is exceptional with new machines, a high-end locker room and a superb view, open 24/7!
Warning: no shower heads in the bathrooms... very annoying to wash when you are less than 1m70 tall (including in the bathtubs!)
Expensive parking service (50 euros per day) but very practical and very professional.
Adorable and smiling hotel staff.
I recommend.

We stayed at this hotel from 29 July - 4 August. We have stayed here once before and found it decent, but wanted to give it another go - our opinion has generally remained the same.

In summary, this hotel was really great at going above and beyond but slacked on some of the basics. Being the tallest building in DTLA, the views are obviously stunning and being on the 50th floor meant ours was particularly great. Our room was also very spacious.

Unfortunately however, we encountered a few problems - with regard to the bill, we were initially charged for days we never stayed at the hotel (this was later reversed after we queried this). Housekeeping was also not always topped up as was promised, and we had to request this at the front desk.

Concierge service was very friendly however and eager to help wherever possible, even offering us a $25 drink voucher per day from the mini bar or breakfast. Unfortunately, we also had to request this each day at the front desk as this was never taken off our bill without asking and our mini bar was never restocked without asking.

Breakfast service was exceptional, with very attentive service and a wide variety of dishes / buffet foods. It was always extremely busy however, with a long queue beforehand so just be prepared for that. Other amenities like the pool were great, but you also have to come early for optimum experience here - there is very minimal seating and no shade (unless you pay for the $500 cabana). The pool is also not heated.

The location of downtown LA could not have been more perfect and was a big reason for us choosing this hotel, as it had a metro station right outside (with connections all over Los Angeles), and lots of food options outside too. It was also only a 15-minute walk from tourist hotspots like Grand Central Market, the Grammy Museum, the Crypto.com Arena, and Angels Flight.

Overall, our experience was mixed. This was a good hotel but did not unfortunately improve upon our experience from last time - service was generally good and they never hesitated to go above and beyond, but some basics need to be improved upon.

This was my first time staying at this property, and I must say, I was not impressed considering the price I paid. However, I do want to give credit to Teresa at the Front Desk, who provided superb service. She took great care to ensure my stay was comfortable, attentively listening to my needs and going above and beyond to meet them. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I spent one night in a king junior suite. Unfortunately, the quality of the furniture in the room was below average. There was only one chair for the table, which was disappointing. I also noticed that the hotel provided paper and plastic cups instead of glassware.

On the positive side, the bed was comfortable, but I needed extra pillows to support my head. However, I was disappointed to find stains on the carpet and tile in the bathroom. The grout on the bathroom tiles needed a thorough cleaning, and the caulking around the tub was peeling off, requiring repair.

Additionally, there were noticeable dust bunnies above the bathroom mirror. The shades in the lobby were quite dusty and definitely in need of a deep cleaning. Furthermore, the chairs in both the lobby and the bar area were dirty.

In summary, I would rate this property as a 3.5-star hotel. I'm aware of other hotels in the area that offer a five-star experience for just a few dollars more, making it difficult to justify staying here again.

Staying at the intercontinental is difficult to say the least. The elevators do not go straight up and down. No matter what floor you stay on, you have to go to 70 before going to one. You have to go to 70 before going to your room. If you're staying there by yourself and not with a group you may not have a problem. But if you're there with any size group I would not recommend it for any reason. On New Year's Eve when a lot of non-hotel guests were coming for the celebration, there were 50 of us waiting in a line to get upstairs. The hotel did nothing to accommodate hotel guests separate from New Year's Eve revelers. And if you have a group that all wants to get to breakfast when the doors open at 7:00 a.m. because you have flights to catch, they did nothing to help speed up things like offer box breakfast. Or open doors early for a group.

Beautiful hotel in downtown LA with magnificent view. New rennovated room and bathroom. Upscale Byredo shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Front desk receptionists and the concierg desk are friendly and helpful.
The elevator system is pretty strange. You touch the outside screen with room key to get the designated cart to go up to your room level. You can not do anything once you enter the elevator or tailgate anyone to their cart.
The lobby level is grand and beautiful which gives you a view of spanning LA downtown. If it is a clear day, you can even see The Hollywood sign. I would come back. The valet parking is expensive but it is the same rate everywhere else in LA.

I rate Intercontinental hotel as a 4* hotel. Room was a one bedroom city suite and it did not disappoint: great bed, large bathroom with shower and bath, heated toilet seat (yes heated), big living room. A few things are missing: no safe, only plastic cups rather than an actual glass.

Breakfast buffet at Dekkadence was good. Especially the omelette station was great. As you need to go and get all the food yourself, I found it weird the bill still asks for a gratuity, on top of the 18% service charge.

Biggest feature is the Attitude gym, located on the 7th floor. It is a full-size gym, equipped with Technogym machines, lots of crosstrainers, treadmills,... and an extensie dumbell rack upto 120lbs.

The bones of the hotel are really good, but the service is pretty lackluster. Unless you really want the incredible view, there isn’t much of a reason to stay here.

The physical infrastructure is really impressive. Nice spaces, the most dramatic views in all of LA, and decently sized rooms. However, service is kind of non-existent. There are lots of employees, but most we encountered lacked motivation or any sort of joy in their job. Check-in took far too long, and getting a quick bite in the lobby lounge turned into a painfully long experience where it was difficult to get anyone to help and we received an incorrect order. We went for breakfast at “Dekkadance,” which was a mistake. Long line to get seated, were brought to a table without any explanation as to how breakfast worked, asked for a menu and were told they were all out, so begrudgingly had the buffet, which is overpriced and not worth the effort. $12 up-charge for an omelette. Extremely slow and painful to get coffee. I wish we had walked a few blocks to Bottega Louie. Finally, the room is showing some wear and tear, with broken tile in our shower and some of the worst quality bath towels at a supposedly “nice” hotel that I’ve ever experienced.

Great hotel and great staff.
Front desk on the 70 th floor provides a pretty dramatic entrance experience but gets crowded during peak check in periods.
Blanca at the front desk was fantastic although I wish I had her when I checked in…the amenities/benefits were not explained so I feel like I was short changed (paying for something and getting nothing).
The staff at all levels is very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping is quick to provide anything extra you need.
Requested toothpaste and was provided 2 kits because the toothpaste in the kits only lasts 2 days.
Rooms are well equipped with decent city views. Bathrooms are roomy with rainfall shower and separate tub although they don’t have soft close toilet lids or glasses (felt a little lower end compared to the rest of the hotel).
Hotel has one of the best fitness centers I’ve visited. Multiple restaurants, bar, coffee shop within the hotel and many more to choose from with a short walk.
