My husband and I only spent one night at this wonderful hostel. We booked a private room with a shared bathroom. The hostel was in a beautiful setting close to the many amazing hikes nearby. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again but for at least 2 or 3 nights next time!

My husband and I stayed at the Kananaskis hostel in July, so I expected crowds and some considerable noise.
It was not at all like that! The hostel was blissfully quiet and peaceful, and it was sparkling clean. Our private room was small but clean throughout. The kitchen, bathroom, and our room were all spotless.
The host, Shauna, takes obvious pride in the appearance and condition of the hostel, and her hard work to keep it clean and nice and comfortable pay off in a big way.
She noticed some ants in the living room area, and mentioned that she was sorry for that, saying that she would call the exterminator the next day.
If you like peace and quiet in a very clean setting, I highly recommend this hostel. Get ready to relax and unwind.
I would certainly stay here again, and we probably will do so at the end of our trip.

Kananaskis is a must visit location when visiting the Canadian Rockies and this hostel should be added to the list of places to stay. With electricity and hot water, it is a luxury wilderness hostel but a great place for a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and with great proximity to Nakiska ski hills and some wonderful trails.

Excellent refuge hostel with large kitchen and common areas kept with great cleanliness. WiFi works a few hours a day until 10pm. If you are looking for an economical alternative solution for the national parks, know that you are very far away here. Being located in the Kananaskis provincial park (which is therefore not included in the Discovery Pass of the Canadian national parks) the pass of 15CAD per person per night must be added to the price of the stay which increases the final price significantly. It's obviously not the hostel's fault, but it would be good practice for it to be indicated as it would then be compulsory to pay for it The photos show a room with a large window on the garden level, we had a room in the basement without any window that could be defined as such. Better to be more precise in the description

I stayed there for one night with my kids (7 and 8). We came there to ski, so it was very handy location, just couple of minutes from the slopes. The hostel is very small, but cozy, clean and the atmosphere was very friendly. There are 3 private rooms separated from the dorms and we booked all the 3 rooms with our friend. So we had a privacy as well. There is bbq and fire pit outside.

This place is outsider the major centres of Banff and Lake Louise and is a good alternative in order to keep your money in your pocket.
They have three private rooms for those who enjoys some privacy. Even if it is a shared bathroom, it is shared only by the three rooms, other bathrooms are availaible for the people in the dormitories.
The rooms are clean, the staff is great, the quiet hours are well respected. Some food is complimentary (coffee and everything some hikers will leave behind).
Banff is only 35 minutes away from this place.
I definitely recommand.
Thanks to Anita and Jamie.

I spent 2 nights at the HI Kananaskis. I don't stay in hostels often, so don't have a great comparison, but this place was great. It is inexpensive; our group used the dorms and there is one for men, one for women. They have a couple of private rooms as well. The kitchen area and common areas were large and accommodated the number of people staying. There are three very new, updated bathroom/showers in the basement. There are some fantastic hikes right out the door. Great value and I'll definitely stay here again.

I stayed two nights at HI Kananaskis. It is so nice an quiet there. If you need a brake from Job you have to spend a few days in HI Kananaskis. No TV, no WIFI, in the middle of wilderness, just right for a brake. The Manager is so verry helpful an friendli, it feels lile family if you stay there. Perfect

This hostel is very clean and well maintained. We stayed in a private room which was very comfortable. The bathroom facilities are shared between the 3 private rooms.
Kitchen and common rooms have great amenities and the hostel has a great feel to it.
I wouldn’t really call this a wilderness hostel though as it has electricity, running water and indoor washrooms.
Only thing missing is wi-fi.

Its been many years since I have visited this hostel. Located in Kananaskis around the Ribbon Creek area. A great out of the way place to stay but close enough to visit places such as Banff and Canmore. I had booked a private room which met all expectations. The host was friendly and the hostel very clean. I will be back.
