Great location, great staff. Wifi was a little spotty, but didnt spend much time in the room anyway as i was there for work. The hospitality and staff were so great, i would recommend to anyone thinking about visiting malibu for work or fun!
Spent three nights at the Malibu Country Inn recently. Starting with the positives- location is perfect, you can walk to the beach in five minutes, shops and supermarket are close by, and the room has potential but that leads me onto the negatives. The cleanliness- my god, if that is your thing do not book here!!!! Walked into the bathroom and there was hair all over the side of the shower where someone had SHAVED and it has not been cleaned off before we checked in - disgusting. There was also dog hair all over our garden space which we had to ask them to clean up because it was so bad, but they didn’t even do that very well. Hairs all over the room that weren’t ours which is pretty disgusting. Everything else worked fine in the room. Very dated and old so was a bit concerned about safety as the locks as just little locks on the door and no fire alarm. I would say for the price stay somewhere else if you can get a deal or somewhere nicer and drive to the beach to be honest.…
Our family of four (parents and two toddlers) stayed here with one night reservation. Outlets in Room 21 were missing plate covers, cords sticking out, mold growing in shower tiles and spotting mold all over ceiling. Pool stairs were right outside our room, and there is a ripped/detached pool fence inoperable at the stairs (toddlers can easily walk down there to pool), and a 2' tall picket fence at the deep end of pool lounge, with parking on either side. Felt very uncomfortable and unsafe (hotelier ignoring liabilities for drowning accidents). I did not get a chance to provide this feedback on safety (and liability for their hotel) because we had to pack up and leave in middle of night for a medical emergency for our daughter. We called hotel two days later to ask if they recovered my daughters swimsuit we left behind in the rush to leave at night. They did have it. A highly-inappropriate and unprofessional argument ensued with the front desk female who raised her voice at me, ignored my requests for shipping it to me (I offered to pay shipping), demanded the only option was picking it up physically (hotel policies typically allow for Options to send goods left behind for a charge - felt obvious that if someone stays in a hotel they 99% of the time don't live nearby. But she was unable to understand that and demanded I come back to get it 🤷🏼♀️) She was unwilling to problem solve or offer solutions and when j came up with creative ones for her so that I could get the swimsuit back, she shot them all down with no explanation. No sympathy or warmth for our medical leave in the middle of the night and argumentative/unprofessional with me. I asked to speak to management and she yelled at me to call back tomorrow :( I have a feeling any further effort will be wasted in my end and further the frustrating and disappointing experience... It was deeply saddening, our family felt uncared for, belittled, and hurt by this entire experience. It was unsafe, unclean, poorly managed, and no effort with customer service. The medical scare was enough to ruin our little overnight to Malibu, and our experience with this hotel staff unfortunately secured that :(…
For 380 USD a night (room 12) this has been a major disappointment. The place is in terrible conditions - peeling paint, broken shutters, scuffed walls, rusty hardware, damaged furniture and stinking of bleach. Happy it must have been sanitized at least, but the overpowering smell of chlorine offset the positive. A place that will never see me again and that I do not recommend to anyone.
Not good. This place in a normal city and not Malibu would be $75/night, and people would not stay there. They get this price because there is no places to stay in Malibu. Room was banged up beyond belief. I suppose the pool was ok but that's not saying much. We felt ripped off but what can you do once you arrive and get in your room. We sucked it up because of location but will not be back. take the warnings like most of these reviews or be disappointed. Stay inland and drive into Malibu if you want to visit.
Not as advertised. $299 Garden View Queen, Room #16, was badly in need of repairs. Broken shower knob, loose sink faucet, missing stopper & broken toilet roll holder. Holes in bathroom wall. Safety concerns with old wall heater & door lock.
More bad than good at this hotel. Cons: Bathroom fan broken, bathroom light looks like it was taken from a garbage dump, windows that do not open, window screens that are torn, heavy disinfectant smell upon arrival, sofa and blankets stained, jets on tub rusted, towel rack heavily rusted, up a steep hill with very tight parking. The smoke alarm wasn't flashing. The Lobby was beautiful as were the work offices, but no money has been invested in the guest room that I stayed in for decades. I paid $894 for a two night stay. I find it hard to believe that the City of Malibu has inspected this hotel. There has to be some minimum standards for the upkeep of a hotel. And I am certain that this hotel doesn't meet them. Phone wifi was intermittent at best.
I would never stay here again!!!the hot water in the sink doesn’t work. I reported it to front seat they put me on hold and came back to say it looks good on our end as if they can see the sink from this shabby place. The toilet fills up the coffee maker doesn’t work. When trying to call back the from desk ignores your phone calls. Bed makes a clanking noise horrible for almost 300 a night no hot tub balcony looks like it’s falling apart.I wish I could do a video
Spent $400 for the biggest joke . The room was disgusting, dirty, damaged and smelt like mildew. They stated we upgraded to a “cottage” and yet the room look like something a college student fraternity room. The fire place was broken, full of dust and dirt, black mildew water damage in bathroom , torn material on furniture, broken handles, fridge that was completely frozen over, exposed outlets and instead of the garden view we paid for, we had a view of the garbage. This was our first time away since becoming parents and this is just the biggest disgusting joke. Shame on you Malibu Country Inn, get it together.
Horrible, stay away! The condition of this property is terrible. Checked into our room and is need of repair. The bathroom had black mold growing. As soon as we saw the condition of the room, we immediately checked out. The owner/manger refused to give a refund. Bad business.
