This is a small hotel -- really more of a bed and breakfast -- that has been spiffed up but that clearly shows vintage construction techniques. But that's a reason to visit. Rooms are large and decorated to evoke an era long gone by. The bed was comfortable, and we got good sleep but for the light streaming in through a cut glass window that desperately needs a curtain. The place was surprisingly quiet, and breakfast on the balcony was enjoyable.

The rooms were large, air-conditioned, clean and the beds were comfortable. The decoration is intended to be vintage gold rush but tends to the tacky. Breakfast was store-bought muffins, fruit & beverages, nothing special. If you park in the back, you have to carry your luggage up 2 steep flights of stairs. Coming in the front, there is only one flight, but there are a limited number of parking spaces on the main street.

Very convenient location just out of Yosemite in a lovely little town. The hotel itself is quite small with six rooms, all decorated in a very ancient style. Either you like it or not, I rather felt charmed. Breakfast on the back terrasse. Maybe somewhat too expensive for what it is, although everything is expensive in the area

Mary was so welcoming and friendly over the phone while booking and waited up for us when we came back from Yosemite later than expected. The back patio was great and the room was perfect. Breakfast in the morning was just what I needed to be ready for another day of hiking. The Mariposa Hotel and Inn is unlike your big chain hotels with their policies and fees, you'll feel at home and cared for here.

Great location in downtown Mariposa. FYI, You have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the rooms. The rooms are dated. Very dated. They are big enough and clean. There is free WiFi and a TV with a full satellite channel listing. The couple who runs the place are very nice.

The good reviews on here seem to be based on its location and that is great. Close to Yosemite when the highway is open (it was closed for a rockfall when we arrived) and Mariposa has some great restaurants. But the hotel itself has its issues. It's run by a lovely couple who are very friendly and helpful but the rooms could do with redecorating. Ours (Gertrude Rose) wasn't as bad as some other reviewers rooms indicate. But fresh paint and new carpet would make all the difference. Breakfast is limited but 'free' USA breakfasts often are, especially away from the big chains. The main thing to be vary of is the stairs. If you can't do stairs this hotel is not suitable. You have to climb one flight if using the front door. Two external flights if coming in the rear from the…

We were REALLY looking forward to staying here on our visit from the UK. The road trip took us from Monterey to Yosemite so this was a perfect little place to stay - and we booked direct with the hotel so it felt more personal. Our information was we could check in at 2pm, when we arrived and had hoped to be allowed to check in after our long journey, but instead were told we were not allowed to until 4pm and had to kill time in town. Parked up in the private car park and did the whole town in 2 hours. It feels like it has barely changed since the gold/silver mining days! Quaint little piece of history with lots of original features and feels like going back in time. We stayed in the honeymoon suite (Evelyn & Carmelo) which we think is their jewel in the crown and feels…

This hotel is convenient for access to Yosemite and the couple that own it are pleasent and helpful. It is dated - and does need a refurb - but it is fine for a couple of nights. My only real bug bear was the bath. We stayed in the Marguerite's Room. The taps had one of those portable plastic shower heads attached to them, that couldn't be removed and there was no where to hook it on the wall. You either had to shower holding the shower head, or wait an age to fill the bath by leaving the water running through the shower head.

There are other places to stay; pick one of them. My husband and I stayed there June 3,2017. This isn't a bed and breakfast; it's a flop house. Our stay started with checking in at 350 PM (check in is 4PM). The elderly man that greeted was rude and said, "check in is not till 4". We were 10 min early, not 10 hours. We were taken to our room that had a horrible odor. Breakfast? If you consider a banana and muffin breakfast, I don't. The coffee pot was empty and seating was on the deck out back of house. ( temp in the 50's so it too cool to sit outside). Decor is dated. Shower curtain stained and dirty. Walls peeling. I couldn't get a good picture but take my word the tub had a dark , dirty ring. I posted pictures

Great location, great sense of history, friendly and hospitable. We felt at home instantly and the Innkeeper was very helpful and friendly. Great place to base yourself and enjoy walking around Mariposa. I recommend taking the bus (YART) up to Yosemite Valley. No traffic, no parking, and rent a bike to ride around the Valley.
