My wife and 2 young boys visited Yosemite over Spring Break and we wanted to find a place nearby that wouldn't break the bank... The Yosemite Bug Hostel was the perfect choice (except for one main issue to be explained later)..... It was about a 45 minute, pretty drive to/from the park, so that was reasonable for us.... The resort...

My wife and I stayed at the Yosemite Bug for three nights in March, and although there were a few small issues with the stay we would definitely stay again. The resort is about an hour drive from Yosemite valley, and the drive in each morning is beautiful (there's also a shuttle bus). The room (queen) was comfortable and spacious,...

Having stayed at several top notch Northern California hostels ( which this is a part of ), this hostel was not anywhere comparable to any of the NorCal members. First, the kitchen was so rundown ( years begging a remodeling ) with no sanitation system of 3 sinks in stainless steel to : wash, rinse & sanitize ( as the...

I stayed here for two nights recently and I had a great time. it is what it says on the tin; a budget hostel just outside Yosemite. You'll need to understand how to use the YARTS bus system that comes fairly infrequently - but this is very simply understood using a timetable & is also well priced. The lengthy journey...

Yosemite bug is a great resort just outside the Yosemite national park. The cafe is its crown jewel and the food served here is excellent, well priced and you get a lot of it! The dormitories are the 12 to a room with bunkbeds and is just fine for a good nights sleep. The only down side to the bug...

We stayed at the Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort for two nights at the end of February and loved our stay. It is an excellent value. The cabins are located in a beautiful environment, and within close proximity to Yosemite National Park. Our room was spectacular. One can tell that the owners put a lot of passion into the interior...

I really like the Yosemite Bug. It IS not a 5-star hotel or luxury accommodations. However, it's close enough to the Yosemite Valley that's a great option. What I like about them is that it's affordable, the food is great, and their spa is pretty great too. What I don't like? Unless you have a cabin near the cafe, you'd...

We went for the heated cabin as the weather forecast wasn't on our side. The room itself was nice enough but a few changes would have made it a whole lot better. The mattress sunk in the middle and we had a fan heater which we couldn't put on a timer and had to turn off at night because of...

Beware. I've never written a negative review before and hope I don't have to in the future. Very disappointed with their cancellation policy and their refusal to make an exception even though we could not get there safely. Due to flood warnings we cancelled four days in advance. Even though they resold our rooms they refused to refund $189. When...

We stayed here for one night in a private cabin and it was a great spot. It's excellent value for money, with the rooms being very clean, equipped with good wifi, the hot water is plentiful and the rooms are all styled to a different theme. It's honestly all the things you want in budget accoms and then beyond. We...

Tucked away on its own bend along the stream, perched under a grove of black oaks, the Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort has a magical feel. Located only 26 miles away from Yosemite Valley along California's scenic, open all year Highway 140. The Bug offers a relaxed and social atmosphere where families, backpackers and international travelers all find welcome and a variety of affordable accomodations and amenities an old time mountain resort would have. At the Bug we feature a variety of lodgings to suit any budget. From well appointed private rooms in cabins, vacation rentals, to tent cabins and Hostelling International licensed hostel dorms. Our guests find our facilities to be anything but a corporate hotel or motel setting. In fact, we are on a sloped hillside so be prepared to walk far up and down to your accommodations and parking. Our guests are welcome at the June Bug Cafe offering fresh comfort and international foods. The Cafe features an daily crafted dinner menu, highlighting our garden, local or organic ingredients. There are always vegan, vegetarian options and holiday feast menus. Breakfast & lunch are solid choices for your active day. Or, enjoy the fully equipped guest kitchen. Both have free wi-fi and are well stocked with board games, darts, ping pong, books and lively conversation with diverse guests and locals. The Yosemite Health Spa is located below the cafe with its own garden deck overlooking the valley below. There, our guests will find a yoga studio, massage therapy, essential oil baths, hot rocks sauna and a huge H2O2 UV spring fed stainless steel hot tub. With asian decor, world music and complimentary tea, the spa offers a calm yet social environment.
