If you are an experienced hosteler, you may consider this #1 in hostel views. We had a private room and it faced on to the ocean. We could hear the surf constantly. Private rooms are always small in hostels, this was no exception. Just room enough for a full-sized bed and a tiny desk. All hostels have some quirks, this...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. We are so glad you enjoyed the beautiful views on our cliffside property. We strive to be as environmentally sustainable with low flow shower heads. We are constantly trying to keep up with maintenance issues with a small staff and a very old property, and...

My brother, a respectful and quiet man, has fallen on hard times and is homeless. For Christmas, I wanted him to get out of the cold and stay near my daughter who lives in Half Moon Bay. I arranged and paid for him and his girlfriend to stay 4 nights at the hostel. I asked when helping them check in...

I stayed here three nights in a 6 bed dormitory. The dorm, had it's own ensuite bathroom and there were others down the hall. Two kitchens to use, which came in handy as there was a big group of craftspeople staying the weekend and using one of the kitchens. The grounds were lovely and the staff were friendly and provided...

What a gorgeous place. Staying in a old Coast Guard building adjacent to the fog signal building. It's 50 beds total. Dorm style, 6 to a room. Breakfast is on your own. It is simply easy to peer out a window here to see dramatic shoreline scenery. Beware of the hours posted for access to this fenced property. It also...

Dr. Bronner's soap is used for hand and dishwashing stations ! All around green standards here. Also the hostel sits right on the water, with beautiful views from many of the rooms. Everything was very clean and well stocked. Staff was kind and well organized. One of the nicest hostels I have visited.

I've backpacked a lot a stayed in some rough hostels, but this is not one of them. The location is incredibly beautiful, but I was glad to have a car because you can't walk to nearby restaurants or attractions. I believe there might be a bus, but since I had my car I didn't explore that further. This location was...
