$277 may seem a lot for an upscale motel room for three guys on a motorcycle trip but this was TWO rooms each with queen bed; shared bath and separate living room and a real kitchen! No tripping over each other here! Ground floor and hear overhead guests walking about, FYI. Gorgeous location in a small town that really feels...

Hi kristy77a, You choose a great area for your motorcycle trip. We hope you were able to make the ride over Coleman Valley Road from Occidental to the Pacific Ocean. It is consistently rated one of the top drives in all of Northern California. If not, then maybe a return trip is in order! We hope the trip out here...

This is not a 5 star hotel, but is so neat and clean that you would think it is. The front desk was very accommodating. Occidental is not so large and the hotel is within walking distance of all restaurants and shops. I stayed in the 2 room suite which was reasonably priced and well outfitted with a kitchenette, sitting...

My wife and I stayed three nights over the Fourth of July weekend. We'd been through Occidental many times, as our kids have gone to a nearby summer camp for years, but we had never stayed. The Occidental Hotel overlooks the small town of Occidental. It's a motel-style establishment, nothing too fancy, but a very nice place to stay if...

Quaint old-style motor lodge with charming colorful outdoor pots and hanging plants, located in a gorgeous woodsy setting, with a friendly staff. Since the building backs up right to a mountain, I don't believe there are any private decks or balconies, but there is a very nice outdoor pool in a quiet, serene setting with comfortable seating choices. Our room...

We really like Occidental Hotel, because it's clean, affordable and the staff is always pleasant. Although a big wedding group filled the place, it was still quiet the Saturday night we stayed there. The town is so quaint and friendly, and there's a great breakfast restaurant across the street.

My son and I spent two days in this sleepy town, a getaway from the East Coast for me and respite from San Francisco for him. What a charming little town, a walk back in time with new and not so new Bohemians, dreds, pony tails, frisbee catching dogs, music, herbal shop, bakery, organic grocer, a few nice gift shops,...

Hi jorjabarton, Thank you for the well written and informative review. Your description of the "flavor" of the Town and it's central location to all sorts of areas/activities is spot on. Thank you for mentioning our pool area as we feel it is a "best kept secret" here in the area for it's peaceful setting. If you make it back...

This was an average hotel with a rock hard mattress and the thinnest walls ever. It was very clean however and I appreciated that. It was reasonably priced but I think for 3 nights over a $400 bill is a bit much for such a small room and not very many amenities.
