We arrived later on Sunday due to chain requirements on I-80. Despite a recent storm and people just leaving from the weekend, several parts of the parking lot were already cleared making chain removal easy. Check in was very easy and we grabbed a quick drink at the bar before it closed at 9pm. The desk told us about a 20% discount for rentals at the adjacent shop (which is already cheaper than across the street) saving us a bunch on a 3 day rental and the shop had no lines. The inn is across the street from the tram and we could ski to within a 100 foot walk of the hotel. Being there during the week, we had little wait for anything including no lift lines. If you are thee more than one day, the base-to-base gondola to alpine is a short walk and worth the effort. The staff gave us great food recommendations including breakfast at Wildflower Baking (also suggesting the cookies which were the best chocolate cookies I’ve had) and dinner at Tremigo (where we tried the Molcajete which was a very flavorful meal with enough food for 2). The staff were friendly and responsive. The hot tubs were great after a day of skiing. The rooms were clean and had good amenities including robes, corkscrew and wine glasses, and a fridge. I would strongly recommend PlumpJack Inn for its cost, location, and staff friendliness.

We had a nice, two-night stay over our anniversary weekend. The staff was very attentive and kind, and even surprised us with a bottle of wine for our anniversary. Maybe it was to make up for the lack of the breakfast that should have been included (it was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions).

The room was a mix of comfort and missing amenities. Very comfortable bed and nice decor, but no charging port on one side of the bed. There was a refrigerator, but no microwave.

The walls were thin, so the outdoor cafe outside the window could be heard through the wall. Other guests' music was clearly heard, as well as their laughing and screaming children at 10pm and 10:30pm both nights of our stay. (The hotel staff were very kind when I called the second night inquiring whether there were quiet hours after 10pm and told me they would communicate that to the other guests.)

Overall, it was a nice stay and the location is hard to beat.

Just returned from a week at Palisades with 47 members of our ski club, staying at Plumpjack. The experience could not have been better! The hotel has a prime location, comfortable and well appointed rooms, a great bar and restaurant, and the BEST staff I have ever encountered on a group trip! Friendly and accomodating. They worked seamlessly with caterers we brought in for group breakfasts, and assisted in finding food options during a 2 day blizzard. I would stay there again anytime!!

I was torn when reviewing the PlumpJack Inn. I think to make a fair review, you'd have to stay there in the Winter as well since this is probably a perfect location and setup for a skiing vacation.

My family of 4 stayed at the PlumpJack in the summer so take my feedback in that light. Things are now fully opened up after COVID, so no masks were required for fully vaxxed people and most people were not wearing masks (so nice, finally). PlumpJack is right at the base of Squaw Valley mountain, with the Squaw Valley Village literally across the street. So there were several restaurants within walking distance. We were there for 9 nights and ate at Fireside Pizza, The Dubliner and Tremigos. Tahoe City was a 15 min drive and we also went there for lunches/dinners.

The hotel was definitely more expensive than we were hoping to pay for our summer trip but way less than a VRBO for 9 nights. The room was a bit small for 4 of us and there's no AC (most places don't have AC in Tahoe). So we had to blast the ceiling fan and window fan most of the time (it was quite hot when we were there).

The pool is only 3.5 ft deep and was really cold, so it's only good for little kids or for wading around for adults. There are 2 hot tubs, but only 1 had working jets (and they were a bit temperamental). They had cornhole and pingpong for games by the pool. And if you check at the front desk, you can get some bocce balls to use on their bocce court which is across their parking lot.

The major negative with the place in the summer is that they have outdoor events/weddings a lot on Fri/Sat/Sun. That means lots of noise until 11pm. One night, some rowdy people were out late after dinner in the patio/pool area, but management shooed them away after we called. Our room was directly facing their dinner patio, so definitely ask for a room that DOES NOT face the pool. The noise didn't allow for any relaxing in the room. Which was mostly fine since we were out on the lake hiking/paddleboarding a lot, but if you want a tranquil summer location, this may not be it. We never tried their bar or cafe, but things did look good.

WiFi was particularly bad - probably because many people, like me, were also trying to get a bit of work done. Video meetings were really sluggish. But I kinda expected this would be the case.

That said, the people were really nice. Ricky at the front desk set us up one day to use their free cruiser bikes. Tommy T (the maintenance guy) was super friendly.

If it weren't for the noise, I would've bumped my review up to 4 stars.

We came to Plumpjack Squaw Valley on July 26, 2021. We are sailing when an electrical storm forced us back to Whale Beach in Nevada. We came across the lake with 6 foot+ waves. We arrived at Plumpjack to no valet, no front desk person and pouring rain. I rang the bell several times and finally someone came. I told her why we arrived at 10:30pm. She offered no valet nor any other assistance. She asked for my credit card so she could charge a $60 resort fee! Obviously all we could do is take a hot shower if they had hot water. We found none. We hobbled in the cold and rain to the very dirty hot tub with no jets and only slime. We went to our room which was like Alice in Wonderland meets mud pie. It was worse that a Motel 6 with cheap furnishings, no bedding, no AC and a cheap plastic fan, cheap coffee machine that didn’t work. The room had ugly cheap furniture from bygone era motel clearance and the sound of pounding footsteps overhead completed the disgusting scene! We wanted to pack up and leave the moment we arrived. We had 3 towels for 3 of us. The decibel level noise overhead was well over 50db. We awesome at 7am to kids running and screaming overhead and people walking like loud elephants!!! This is NOT a luxury resort by ANY stretch of the imagination!!! We want our money back and would have been better off in Tahoe City at a chain hotel dump! What a horrific birthday experience for my husband!!!!

Lovely 3rd stay. Breakfast is lovely. Gym would benefit from full sized rollers and yoga straps. One hot tub was out of order and needed a sign disclosing so before we struggled to remove the cover. Location steps from the tram couldn’t be more convenient.

Incredible heavenly stay. Absolutely loved the pool, delicious food, wine list and everyone was genuinely kind and helpful. We brought our dog and they even had a bed brought up for our furry baby! Everything is clean and neat. Love the pool area with all the birch trees around. Bikes were included and we were steps away from the Aerial tram and the Village. We can't wait to come with our kids and we may even get the Icon pass so we have an excuse to stay there in winter. Best stay in a very long time. Thank you to all the staff at the Plump Jack Inn💙

I almost never leave one star reviews, but this place is really bad. The wine is a disaster. It is very bitter with a vinegar aftertaste. I’m not sure what’s going on here, but it’s definitely not good. The service is very bad. The servers are condescending and quite frankly just rude. I can’t say enough bad things about this place. I would suggest going anywhere but here. I hate to leave reviews like this, but I really feel that no one else should be subjected to this overpriced, painful experience. Good luck to all.

My first room smelled like a wet German Sheppard that urinated on the old carpet. The front desk gent was kind enough to attempt to find a room that smelled better. He went to the second room by himself, came back and said, “Not much better.” He then took me to a 3rd room let me walk in to see how it smelled. This room smelled like the same wet German Sheppard, but minus the urine smell… I asked if any rooms were not pet friendly and possibly smelled better. He said that he was afraid not, but that all of the rooms are thoroughly cleaned. Some odors just don’t come out of the paint and carpet I guess. Highly recommend brining scented candles!!! This place is seriously in need of an update and, at least, some non-pet friendly rooms!!

Our family of 3 stayed here 2 nights with our dog. All staff wore masks and were very friendly and helpful. When we needed amenities, they quickly brought them to our room. Also gave our dog a nice treat. There’s free coffee in the mornings too. Location is right at Squaw Valley, so you are right across from restaurants.
