Rustic pretty basic lodging on the beautiful Pacific Coast. I spent a week there attending a professional meeting. The grounds are pretty. You can see a lot of wild life on the premises and down the coast. However, amenities are not so great. Bathrooms are in need of refurbishing. Food is decent but not really good. The choices are limited....

*** Key caveat: I stayed at Asilomar during a heat wave that transformed the beach into a tropical destination. Freely admitting this is not a common outcome. *** I wasn't expecting much. It was <$200 on an October weekend and I was going to a wedding in Pebble Beach ... This place was cheaper than the local motels, so I...

I have always wanted to stay at Asilomar. I lived in Monterey for a few months and spent a lot of time as a "local" hanging out at the State Beach and the Lodge by the fire. Now that I live elsewhere and I was touring on our motorcycle up and down the coast of California, I suggested we wind...

We stayed 2 nights at the Asilomar Conference Center. It had a great location right next to the ocean. Having said that, it lacked in other areas travelers come to expect in a hotel. It was not very clean. The bathroom had a terrible odor and was outdated and shabby with blaring lights. The carpet in the room was stained...

Previous as tardivezoar. Have stayed here five or six times. Nice for families but watch out for meetings that cater to unhappy people. They will ruin your stay. Left my quilt there housekeeping found it and returned by mail. They were outstanding!!!

I first visited Asilomar in the late 1970s for a meditation retreat. I just visited again with my spouse in September 2014! Before my second visit, I remembered the retreat as blissful, not just for the yoga and meditation, but also for the beautiful location, set among the Monterey Pines and California Live Oaks, and just a short walk to...

If you are expecting anything more than summer camp you may want to keep looking. Yes the ocean is across the road with beautiful white sand and surfers and yes, the grounds appear to be environmentally cared for however is it to save water that the bathroom taps dribble instead of actually run? Cleanliness of our room was suspect at...

The place is big and near to the beach. I saw wild life especially deers and large squirrels in the area. Blue jays and native plants thrive in seafront front where travellers can stroll using the pathways. Idyllic, scenic and rustic, i would recommend the place for organizational meeting conferences since the place can hold many visitors. Its also ideal...

On Friday before the Labor Day weekend, we thought of going out of town for the weekend. I was lucky when my query turned two rooms that I could book. I believe it was cancellation, which is offered 24 hours of the arrival. Asilomar, in recent years, is remodeled -- indoors and outdoors. The staff were friendly and courteous. Our...
