Nice location, quiet. Spacious room with the balcony. Fireplace was a plus. It is pretty run down, but clean. The bedding is sub par, pillows need to be replaced, do not feel like pillows. Overall, efficient, pleasant stay if you bring your pillows.

We booked two rooms, a 2-queen and a king, over Thanksgiving. Luckily the Monarch had vacancies. The rooms are clean, well furnished including frig, microwave, TV, complimentary bottled water, and some rooms have a built-in fireplace. There's a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Friendly staff. Ample and easy parking. Loads of complimentary shampoo, lotion, facial wipes. Complimentary breakfast (cereal, juice, bagels...

We were a family group of 5, occupying 3 rooms altogether. The staff was pleasant and very courteous and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. I left my jacket behind by mistake, hanging in one of the closets. I called the Monarch Resort after returning home and they were most cooperative and courteous. The next day...

Our room was spacious and comfortable and although we were only staying one night,it would have been a pleasure to have spent more time at Monarch Resort. We appreciated the complimentary casual buffet breakfast with fruits, cereals, toast ,etc etc available. We were hoping to see the migration of the monach butterfly, after which the resort is named, but were too early by a...

Stayed at the Monarch Resort during a family trip. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with a wood burning fireplace! I cannot say enough about the staff! They were so friendly and helpful and the manager Roxanne went out of her way to ensure we had the best visit possible. The location was also perfect. With the hotel being near...

Although we had pre-paid for our weekend reservation based on a quote from the person who answered the phone at the hotel, when we arrived to check in, Norma told us the rate was wrong and asked for an additional $30. We told her that we had already been quoted a rate and had paid for the room, and she...

In one word - horrible. My husband and I stayed at this hotel because of sheer desperation. We had a change of travel plans and ended up in the Carmel area at the same time that the Concours was taking place. Needless to say, all hotels in the surrounding area were booked solid. One hotel we called suggested trying a...

It was late, around 10pm, when we stopped in to see if they had any rooms. We weren't expecting much, and although it is just an average hotel, the room was spacious, had a wood burning fireplace, and a good size balcony (we were on the second floor). A continental breakfast was included but we were so tired we didn't...

The Monarch Resort in Pacific Grove is conveniently located for those wishing to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Asilomar, go walking or swimming at the beach, and drive to other area attractions, such as Carmel or Big Sur. The price is reasonable, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff was especially helpful when I became ill...

The hotel is adequately situated for conference attendees at Asilomar which itself is pricey. Friendly staff and a very understanding manager, who even refunded a night stay as we had to leave early. Convenient and safe parking with lovely breakfast. Great atmosphere and a comforting stay.
