Opened in 2011 this 34 room boutique hotel, formally known as the Pepper Tree Inn, has undergone an exquisite redesign. Modern & sleek, featuring imported Italian Linens, flat screen TV's, fireplaces, poolside patios and Mountain View's. This is the third addition to Birba and Cheeky's restaurant family - making the triangle complete. Current hotel amenities include Coffee/Espresso/Tea/Juice/pastries, Townie Bikes, Business center and wireless internet throughout. Adjoining property offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails and a hotel all in the heart of the super hip uptown design district!
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We loved everything about our stay at this gem of a boutique hotel, plumb in the middle of town, but tucked away on a quiet block. The vibe is white washed Palm Springs with a touch of Spanish mission. We had Twin Queen beds in Room 24 next to the pool, with a humungous bathroom complete with free-standing tub. For a splurge get the upper terrace rooms with views across to the mountain. Kudos for the empty bar fridge ready for one’s own snacks and drinks, massive of storage space both in the room and bathroom, nooks and crannies with outside tables and chairs, chilled water by the pool, and all spotlessly clean. The guest pantry next to reception offers drinks and treats to purchase and complimentary tea and coffee, and a generous plate of pastries or cakes. It was super handy for us having a microwave there, too. There are also complimentary bicycles for the well-marked network of bicycle trails around the town, and an on-site restaurant and café (although we didn’t have time to try these). The Alcazar is great value in Palm Springs; not much more than an average motel stay and certainly well below the other four and five star hotels. The staff did a thorough job cleaning and sanitizing, even wiping down the sun loungers in the morning. We would definitely come back and stay again.
Cons The smell of bleach after housekeeping has been (bring your own scented candle or buy one from reception!) The maintenance person blowing the leaves every morning at 7.30am. Would have been handy to have tea and coffee facilities in the room as the guest pantry didn’t open until 7.30am.

From the moment I arrived to the final minutes of our departure, I felt we made a friend in this hotel property. The Alcazar is by far one of the most pristine, service-oriented boutique hotels whose pillows have graced my travel-weary head.
Our room was immaculately clean and everything was functional. We had a suite with a living room and two bathrooms. This made staying in the hotel and returning to the room feel like home. We stayed in Palm Springs for an event and returning to the serenity of the hotel soothed our crowd-fatiqued nerves.
The pool area was a perfect respite from the busy Uptown district two blocks away. When on the property, although booked to capacity, our surroundings never felt crowded. Even the pool area always had enough space.
I can not emphasize the accommodating staff at The Alcazar. We had two packages delivered while there and they were brought to our room. This is why I prefer smaller properties rather than larger hotels, where it's impossible to get to know the staff at a more friendly level. The staff at The Alcazar who I personally spoke with were all in service there for over 5 years. They treated the space as if their own.
We will return to the convenietly located Alcazar each and every time we visit Palm Springs. It's our new home away from home.

We recently enjoyed a terrific stay at this conveniently located yet peacefully secluded hideaway. The Alcazar has retained much of its 1930's originality and charm in its public spaces and jazzed it up with fun patio furniture, firewalls, neo-jazz ambient sound and pool linens. One can't help but be transported to a more tranquil state of being by the scent of orange blossom and jasmine that perfume the warm desert air. The rooms are more modern and minimal but generously sized, beautifully styled and thoughtfully appointed. The complimentary in toiletries were pleasant scented and pleasing to use. The complimentary morning pastries and espresso were extra pleasant treat. We met several friendly guests from around the country and experience fostered by the relaxing and intimate setting. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the convenience of the two dining options accessible to guest at Cheeky's for brunch and Birba for dinner. Both meals were delicious and service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. This was a surprisingly restorative experience. The pool was warm the Jacuzzi hot but not stifling. And though it packed the spa services of our usual area resort pick ease, comfort, and low-key atmosphere of this boutique locale we brings us back for more. Special shout out to the staff for helping our children to arrange a beautiful hydrangea, orchid, and succulent, floral anniversary arrangement in our room, in advance of our arrival. Such a treat!!
Lastly, as someone who uses mobility devises I found the property easy to navigate and at no time did I require assistance to access features of our room or the property.

I have a “Mountain View” room. It’s really a view of Indian Canyon Dr and you’ll be hearing traffic and motorcycles the whole night.
When you ask for a different room they will just sort give you this pitiful look like “you’re an idiot for booking that room, dummy” and not offer any help. You’ll see that all of the rooms on this side of the hotel are empty.
Stay away from this place. It might be called a boutique hotel but all that means is that they have a horrible location and they are just trying to get by renting rooms to idiots like me that didn’t check that it is on a major street. Pretty much the ‘greater fool’ theory.
I’m the fool this time. Well played Alcazar, well played. .

The staff was nice enough to let me out of my two day reservations, and stay only one night instead. Honestly I just want to warn others who may be lured by the pictures - this us a motel, literally whitewashed to look upscale. White paint covering every surface while it has the facilities of a motel 6. Wish it lived up to its pictures.

The hotel was a smaller boutique hotel, which was perfect. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The pool area is very nice. It was clean and heated (not hot and not too cold). Towels are provided at the pool along with some ice water and cups. The breakfast station they had was great. OJ, croissants and other pastries along with coffee and espresso free of charge. It was a $15 Uber drive from the airport. It’s very close to the Main Street (Palm Canyon drive) lots of restaurants and shops. Palm spring shuts down half of Palm Canyon Drive on Thursday nights for a very neat street market. The hotel has 2 restaurants attached to the hotel Cheeky’s and Birba. The rooms were spacious with a nice king size bed. The main courtyard has a nice firewall that you can sit at.

Overall, I would come back here. I loved the quaint and peaceful vibe of the hotel. The front desk ladies were amazing. I enjoyed that there were no kids splashing or running around the pool which I find common at bigger hotels. The pool was my favorite amenity with stellar music, gorgeous jasmine and palm trees surrounding it and SO many hummingbirds :) we booked a king w/courtyard patio. The room itself could go much farther with elevated design elements but the convenience to the pool overrode the lack of design within the room. Thanks again for everything! We also used the free cruiser bikes , enjoyed nespresso in the morning& loved the onsite market for poolside wine/beer

I highly recommend this cozy and quaint hotel. I loved the floral arch at the entrance, and the entire layout of the grounds. Quite peaceful. We enjoyed our space, equipped with robes, a delightful bathtub for nice soaking, comfortable bed, and the shower pressure and water temp was perfect. The hotel was clean and came with a little breakfast (delicious croissants, coffee/tea and orange juice) We loved the bikes being available to us, which we used for a morning ride. We totally enjoyed the two restaurants on each side of the restaurant, Cheeky's and Birba. Yummy food and so convenient. There was also Copley's right across the street, which had delicious food and a wonderful ambiance. The location was pretty close to everything. Nice walking distance to eateries, etc. The pool was also a perfect refreshing temp, and the jacuzzi was so relaxing. We loved listening to the mellow music playing while we relaxed by the pool. I liked the little touches like the water flowing down glass (not sure of the correct name) behind the sun loungers. The young lady at the front desk was also very pleasant and helpful. If you choose to stay here, I think you will be quite pleased!

Perfect location in Palm Springs and extremely beautiful property! The hot tub was great and just a short walk to Cheekys for a delicious breakfast.
My only complaint is that we were woken up at 5am by the cleaning crew. We were in room 11, corner room next to the pool and we were woken up around 430 by rolling carts going back and forth which I assume was laundry and probably pool clean up. Then someone was spraying the walkway right in front of our room at 5AM and the cleaning never stopped, we were never able to get back to sleep. I understand that upkeep is necessary but this really seemed too early, maybe 7 is a more acceptable time? We did mention this to the front desk and it seemed like they are aware of the time and that it was too early We only stayed one night so I'm not sure if this happens every morning.

Very well-run property. This is ideal for those who prefer a small, quiet place to relax. There is a spectacular view of the San Jacinto mountain from the East side of the pool area. Ask for Room 36 if you want to stare at it all day! The rooms are intentionally under-decorated, but clean and with very good beds. The bathroom is quite spacious and modern. Keep bathroom door closed to ensure a cool room if you are there in the summer!. The owners also have two restaurants that adjoin the property. One is a popular Italian restaurant BIRBA and the other a Breakfast/Lunch (cozy) "Cheeky's". Additionally, Palm Canyon Drive is steps away and a mild walk southward gets you into all the shops and restaurants. No need to drive. We even used the bicycles for a great Sunday morning ride along the Las Palmas loop (directly West of the hotel). I only have two things I'd like to see changed: 1) the pool gates open at 7am, which means I can't enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the morning sun hit the mountain (which happens around 6-ish during the summer). Likewise, while the hotel provides coffee and baked goods, they aren't available until 7:30. 2) the hotel pumps music around the pool area and it is a (imho) monotonous "new age" marathon. So, if hours of that would annoy you, bring ear buds and your own music. On the consecutive weekends in July that I stayed there, there were only 1 or 2 families with young children. Primarily it is couples or solo folks. There is sufficient parking on the property as well as an overnight security guard.
This is a lovely place, if you value quietude and the charm of "old palm springs". I can't wait to go back.
