I'm puzzled by the number of positive reviews as this was one of the poorest hotel experiences I've had. The graffiti that's been left on the elevator was the first sign of trouble. Then upon finally finding my room (there are no signs to help figure out which room numbers are where) it was tiny and without a/c or any...

The Lobby is SO huge and neat. Like a big 20's era Hollywood era set. The rooms are nothing special, but it's a very neat old building surrounded by sweet shops and restaurants. Parking is a pain, they recommended in City Hall. But otherwise a pleasant stay.

Location: The best aspect of the hotel is the downtown Palo Alto location: in the middle of the downtown restaurants, close to the Caltrain, and close to Stanford. We were able to easily walk or take public transit to everywhere we needed to go. Accommodations: To save money, we opted for a room with a shared bathroom. I was hesitant...

Like a home to me and my family. Have been coming here for years. Immaculate accommodations, friendly helpful staff, very comfortable beds, great coffee and tea in the lobby, walking distance to all restaurants and shops in Palo Alto. No reason to consider staying anywhere else in this area.

The hotel itself is comfortable and clean, but the staff at the reception was extremely rude and unfriendly. The cafe serving breakfast (next to the hotel) had serious trouble to serve more than a few clients at one time and having breakfast became a complicated issue every morning.

I enjoyed my stay at The Cardinal Hotel. It is located in a great spot downtown, within very close proximity to coffee shops, bars, shopping, movie theaters, and restaurants. The room was very small and very warm (no air conditioning), but the ceiling fan helped a lot. I got a shared bath/shared toilet room, which I was anxious about- but...

I stayed in this hotel a week as I was travelling for business purpose. The prices for the hotel rooms are very high, but given the overall cost of living in Palo Alto and also the location of the hotel it seemed okay. The biggest let down was the room service which is pretty much non existent. Given the $400...

This was one of my best lodging experiences. They have a wide range of rooms from suites to shared baths. I did the latter, and the price was very reasonable, considering the location. Very well maintained - porcelain and metal all sparkles and not a water spot to be found on any mirror. Out of curiosity I crawled down on...

Have stayed here many times. It is a classic establishment that has been here for ever. Though the rooms have nice updates, the lobby still has the classic old look. They still have the old style original elevator which adds the extra charm. And to boot, its in the heart of the town so easy access to walk everywhere. Rooms...

While this is probably the first time I have spent $250 per night for a room in a two star hotel, I appreciated the location and the early 20th century building. The nonchalant service tells you right away that they are in a seller's market and they know it. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable stay and I had no problem...
