The room was clean, beds and pillows are too soft, but it depends on your preferences. Looks like they are doing renovations, but in general you get what you pay for. It is not bad. They have an inner parking place. The Pasadena Area is very quiet and with no traffic. We consider this kind of hotel because it is only to sleep, take shower and keep our stuff while we are in the city or parks.

Stayed here for two nights and was happy to leave again.
Let's start with the positive things:
The staff was friendly and the location is nice, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Also the bathroom was quite spacious and very clean, so was the bed. Unfortunately that's it.
Obviously they are upgrading the rooms, there were works going on, that didn't bother us. Our room was not upgraded yet, that meant a filthy carpet, filthy curtains (including mold stains, huge stains of unidentifiable origin and demolished mounting), run down furniture and dirty windows. Lighting in the room was also not enhancing the comfort, as it was very basic and just plain white.
It was the second time I stayed at a Rodeway Inn and it has most probably been the last time.

The property is run down, and was rather empty of hotel guests at the time of our visit. It would be good if the management would address maintenence issues, like the window screen frame in our room that was badly bent leaving a huge gap when we pulled back the drape. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, the bath tub should get a really good scrub down. The carpet appeared new and was clean and the floor tile in the bathroom as well, appeared new and was clean. It was nice that there was a microwave and good refrigerator in the room. For the price we paid through Expedia we were not unsurprised by the shape of things.

My family booked multiple rooms at this hotel for 3 nights. We were shocked upon arrival to see the condition which looked nothing like the pictures and is certainly not worthy of a 3/5 rating (or 7.2 on other sites). The entire hotel is rundown with filthy stains everywhere. Each of our rooms had a nasty smell and mold in corners, walls, bathroom and near molding. The carpet has large stains. The curtains were dingy and furniture was heavily worn. The beds were very uncomfortable, low-quality memory foam and we had stains on one of the sheets. Our children began coughing almost immediately after check-in and we decided to leave after our first sleepless night.

The front desk offered us other rooms but all appeared similar to the ones we already had. There is signage indicating they are remodeling but I have my doubts. We contacted the front desk and reservation company at 1am the first night to let them know we would not be staying the additional nights but a refund was refused.

Very bad experience here. I had a flight delay so I called them the day of check in and asked if I could check in the following day and not be marked as a no-show. They said no problem and that they would make a note of it. The following day when I arrived, the person at the front desk told me that they had canceled my reservation since I hadn't checked in the previous day. In addition, all the rooms were booked so I was left stranded last minute with very few other options since everything else was booked in the neighborhood. They refunded my week's stay minus $100 for a "cancellation fee". Overall a really bad experience and wish there had been better communication between the folks who worked at the hotel.

Small boutique hotel. It's very clean good wifi.
Very limited parking which was a pain, but the most annoying thing is that this hotel has the nerve to say no visitors after I've checked in. This is a choice hotel property if you want to have a no visitor policy then you shouldn't be part of the Choice hotel family. I'll never stay here again.

This place is the nastiest, dirtiest place I have ever been. I will never stay there nor would I ever recommend this dirty place to anyone! I would not stay there again if it was free! It was so dirty, mildow on the shower curtains, ciggerette holes on the furniture, white stains on the carpet that I am assuming could only be *****. The whole room smelled of urine and mildow. The tile in the shower and hottub was all black mildowed. When I lifted the blanket to get in the bed there was a pubic hair on the sheet. This place is a hell hole and I recomment NO ONE STAYS THERE! YUK!

You get what you pay for. This is a convenient and inexpensive motel, if you have things to do in Pasadena. The room was large and clean. The mattress was hard, not saggy. There were no facial tissues in the room. There was a fridge and coffee maker, but no microwave. There was only one hanger in the room; when we asked for more, the desk clerk brought 2 more. The TV was a newer flat screen model, but there was no list of channels, so one just had to look for a program one wanted to watch. The motel building was old, but they had clearly tried to remodel the halls. There is a covered parking garage. It is not clear if there are enough spaces if each room occupant had a car. There is an 8 foot clearance, so take care if you are driving a van. Also, many of the spaces are marked for compact cars.. The breakfast was minimal: packaged cheese crackers, crousants (sp?), apples, orange juice, coffee. The water was hot and one didn't have to wait forever for it. There are other motels on the same street, many in the same price range. We have stayed at those, too. If you want more, you clearly need to pay more.

As of this writing, this hotel has 10 "terrible" reviews vs. 1 "excellent" and 7 "very good" reviews, so I feel like I need to chime in and say that the "terrible" reviews are kind of over-the-top. First of all, this is a Rodeway Inn... so for the price you pay to stay here, you really can't expect it to be the Ritz. I booked a stay here despite the bad reviews, and was expecting the worst, but like I stated in the title of this review, it's not bad at all. The room was clean and spacious, the bathroom (while small) feels "updated," the wifi connection was among the best I've used at a budget hotel, there's ample parking, and it's in a good spot in Pasadena. And as with any Choice Hotel, the service was very good. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again.

Recently stayed here with a few friends. We flew into LA late 1 afternoon, and wanted somewhere away from all the hustle and bustle but also close to thing like Universal Studios, Hollywood etc. Rodeway Inn was a great choice, with most things we wanted to get to being a short drive away.

There is a pretty big shopping center and strip only a few minutes drive from the Rodeway, for easy access to food, otherwise a few take away places are only a few minutes stroll.

The hotel itself is great. Basic, but I don't know what else people would expect from a cheaper place. We initially booked a queen room, but due to their being none left, we were given 2 seperate double rooms for no extra charge.

Let me tell you that the rooms themselves are absolutely massive!! Easily the biggest out of about 10 rooms we stayed in on our trip to the USA.

There is a bit of road noise as the hotel is right on Colorado Blvd, but that is easily fixed by closing the window, which blocks out alot of the noice.

All the basics are provided, great TV, clean bathroom, comfortable bed and a fantastic wifi setup that couldn't be beaten by any of the other hotels we stayed at on our trip.

The front desk staff were happy to help and provided good service.

Overall, if its a basic hotel you are looking for, the Rodeway is an excellent choice. We only really used the room at night, after dinner for a bit and then sleeping. During the day we were out busy. Apart from that though, don't take note of the negative reviews below as they seem to have been written a while ago, as I can confirm this hotel is great value for money
