Third time we have stayed at this prestigious hotel. The location has always been breathtaking, bust this time was the best. Quite delighted with the newly renovated rooms. This, the installation of ac (evidently driven by the hosting of the upcoming 2019 US Open), great...More
This was a delicious Chinese Chicken Salad with huge chunks of chicken and a yummy raspberry mousse with chocolate crusted dessert. The service there is also so great. There are expensive but you for what you pay for. An excellent event. You can always depend...More
You really cannot do any better for a golf/couples trip. Golf is incredible, wives did hiking and electric bikes each day and met for lunch after. Great sunsets and dinners. Fantastic but expensive, and worth it.

For $700 a night I expect the following:

2. A staff that takes ownership of problems
3. 24/7 Made-To-Order Room Service (if I want a steak, you make a steak).
4. A ocean view
5. Updated facilities

The Lodge is more expensive and is in a 'better' location (meaning a closer drive to Ocean Street, the main road for shops and walking in Carmel-by-the-Sea) . However, the Inn at Spanish Bay is going through a major rooms renovation right now. If you don't mind a maybe 400 sq. ft ocean with golf course views room, I would choose Spanish Bay. If you want to splurge for a larger suite with ocean and golf course views, then choose the Lodge.
