Nestled in the heart of wine country, the Sheraton Sonoma Wine Country Petaluma offers a range of amenities that are well-received by guests, including a pristine pool and a satisfying breakfast. Its location is a hit for its accessibility and proximity to Sonoma's downtown area. While some guests commend the spacious and comfortable rooms, others voice concerns over noise and maintenance. Service experiences vary, with instances of both commendation for staff helpfulness and criticism over a lack of responsiveness. Opinions on atmosphere and value are mixed, with some guests finding the hotel average and not worth the price, particularly citing the additional costs for parking and breakfast. Cleanliness, however, is a strong point, with the exception of some noting the need for more frequent towel replenishments.

I've stayed at this hotel several times (and I also used to live in Petaluma) so I know the area and hotel quite well. The hotel is your basic Sheraton. No frills, but clean and decent.
This was our first visit during COVID and we were here for work for 2 nights. Check-in was a little slow (difficult to communicate through masks but we got there). The staff are lovely though. No housekeeping at the time we were there. If you wanted towels, pillows, etc you had to go down to the front desk and get them yourself. Not a problem for us though. The restaurant was closed for dine-in, so was the Starbucks but they were serving coffee at the reception area for guests.

The room seemed clean and we had a lovely view overlooking the marina. Although it also faces the highway, it's nice to see the water and the boats. If you face the other way you get the hills, but you overlook the parking lot.

Here's the nice surprise: There's a really lovely trail at the back of the property that takes you on a walk along the Petaluma river and back into the nature preserve. It's a great thing to do after you've been in the car for hours for sure.

What I love about this hotel is that the prices are reasonable, but you still have great access to wine county, downtown Petaluma etc.

We were a little worried about staying at this hotel after reading some of the reviews. But we are happy that we gave this hotel a try. It was terrific. First and foremost, the staff is well trained and helpful. Every staff person we met greeted us, and wanted to make sure that we were happy with our stay. As a Marriott Lifetime Platinum member, we received an email from the hotel a few days before our stay. Once at the hotel we received an upgrade to the 4th floor Executive King room with Club access. The Club was handy for a light breakfast and light snacks in the evening. (Some of the Club furniture could use replacing.) Our room, and the mattress in particular, was very comfortable. It was also nice to have bathrobes. There were plenty of towels provided. No noise from any freeway traffic. We had one breakfast in the restaurant which was very good, although it was pricey, but typical pricing for hotel restaurant breakfasts. We would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. This hotel also offers "suites", with a living room as well as bedroom. However, note that there is only one tv in the living room. No tv in the bedroom. If you like having a tv in the bedroom, you may not want to stay in a suite.

The Good:
1. Room was quiet, as requested
2. Bed was comfortable - negligible exterior or hallway noise - got two good nights of sleep
3. Property is well located in Petaluma
4. Layout of the hotel is good
5. Midweek pricing was very competitive
6. Front Desk Personnel were professional
Needs Improvement:
1. TRASH: There is one exterior trash can and it was consistently overfilled with additional trash in the planter boxes
2. More TRASH: There appeared to be a mixture of bagged trash and food deliveries in the hallways, could somewhat understand the food deliveries
3. Toilet Cover vs Toilet Seat: Sat on and broke the cheap toilet cover this was quickly replaced with a sturdier toilet seat...why a Sheraton has cheap covers, hard to fathom
4. We had indicated that there would be 4 guests in the room, yet were given two bath towels, asked for and was provided two additional towels

Disclosure: I finance these types of properties and Covid has certainly impacted many of them, in this case the restaurant and bar closed along with meeting/ events facilities. However, a property of this caliber should not have these types of issues.

Was concerned about the recent low rated reviews, however, for the price, two good night's sleep and the hotel's location, I will likely consider this Sheraton again in the future.

Gold Elite Members.

We stayed here for one night during a road trip. This Sheraton is one worth avoiding.
First is parking. The lot is a completely open parking lot open to everyone. There was a transient riding his bike through the lot looking at the cars when we arrived. Without even asking if I had a car, they charged me an extra $10 for parking.

The hotel itself was fairly dirty. The carpets had numerous stains and debris on it. The room had an odd odor to it, like maybe someone smoked in there and they tried to cover up the smell.

When booking through the Bonvoy website, we paid an extra $20 for the breakfast package. Breakfast was obviously only take away or eating on the patio due to Covid. There was a sewer truck outside the hotel, so eating outside was not an option due to the horrible smell outside.
When I went to pay for breakfast, I was told the pre-paid voucher was only valid for $28 of the bill. Wow, a whopping $8 savings for paying in advance, thanks Sheraton!!!

After leaving here, we went on to the Monterey Marriott which was much better.

While I totally understand the constraints of Covid-19 as well as state and county regulations, this is hands down the worst Sheraton I’ve stayed at in recent memory. There is no housekeeping service in room or around the property, nor are there any Titanium benefits (breakfast is not an option nor are the bonus points in lieu of) and there is no late check out. Everything is closed (including ground floor restrooms and sundries shop) and the keys stopped working halfway through the stay. It’s sad how the once strong Sheraton brand name has really degraded and this property is a clear example of such decline.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I can assure you what is happening at our hotel is happening at the majority of hotels everywhere. We strictly follow the rules and the guidelines that have been put in place by the State of California, Sonoma County and Marriott. It is unsafe for the housekeeping staff to enter rooms during this global pandemic, the majority of our guests understand this virus related issue. We offer to bring anything guests need to their door for them including amenities, towels and linens. I am not sure why you think there is something wrong with the Marriott point system, all points for stays are being awarded. Late check out is nearly impossible because of the multiple layers of disinfecting and cleaning that are now required to keep guests and staff safe, we do have some flexibility and offer it on nights that are not as busy. The gift/sundries shop is absolutely open and is used multiple times every day by guests. We are working hard to keep our guests and team safe. We are taking all necessary precautions to keep you and everyone else safe. Thank you very much for the feedback

We found this hotel after a long drive halfway home. The rooms are very nice. We had drinks and some food at the hotel restaurant but I have to say that the food wasn't good at all. The cleanliness and spacious room made up for the food we had in the restaurant. We appreciated that the lady at the reservation counter let us know that our room was at the opposite end of where we were checking in and that was good because my husband can't walk very easily. However, when I went to park in the handicapped space, there were three males walking on the little bridge to the hotel parking and I felt uncomfortable because the lighting in the parking lot isn't good at all. I moved our vehicle so it was near a light and the ramp to the rooms.

What an unexpected little gem. We were driving from the Oregon coast back home to Arizona and decided to make this part of our stop over. Petaluma is a delightful little town and while we are in the middle of a pandemic it was still a relatively normal hotel experience. The hotel restaurant was great food was yummy they had lovely choices of wine and it backs up to Marina and a lovely little area where you can walk around after a long day in the car. Staff was friendly room is very well appointed and comfortable. Beware there is a surprise $10 charge for parking which seems a little odd because the premises are quite big.

We were pretty disappointed with our stay. I am a Gold Elite member and had called in the morning to ask for an early check in. We arrived at 2 pm and had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours to check in (along with several other guests) because they didn’t have enough housekeepers to make up the rooms. The pool is tiny with no umbrellas for shade and the water in the hot tub was yellow.

This hotel was recommended as a hotel in the area for a nearby wedding like most places definitely understaffed.

Hotel
Was dirty carpets in room were stained , ants on tables in restaurant. We paid about 1,000 dollars per
Room for 3 nights not anywhere near worth it

Staff was friendly but definitely stretched thin front desk came to clean fix coffee in lounge

Needs a refurbishment and a good cleaning pool would not unlock in morning they said the timer
For the lock needed to be changed had to make 3 requests for our tv to be fixed when they finally did it they left garbage and old wire on floor of our room

We stayed in 4 other hotels marriotts on this trip and they were cleaner and better staffed

Business hotel off freeway..must’ve been closed a while, and probably staffing shortage like so many places, but hard to believe a local manager or a National
Chain like Marriott would allow a location to reopen without a thorough cleaning. Literally felt like they had just taken the sheets off all the furniture in a dusty attic , nothing open and no staff. Was I in the shining? 7am and no coffee. Not going back
