I've always wanted to stay here since I read about it in Sunset Magazine. The Honeymoon Airstream is absolutely brand new and spotless inside and the bed and linens are soooooo comfy. We didn't use the kitchen but it seems fully appointed. Plus the lobby and cafe area are fun and kitschy and charmingly French retro. They have pre-made crepes you can customize and you're free to use that kitchen too, like a friend's home. The location is very good, just ten or so minutes walking to downtown which is very small and walkable with good restaurants and wine tasting. If you're after something a little different this is the one to try!

I stayed at The Metro Hotel& Cafe during the month of April. During my stay I had an experience like no other. I Unfortunately was not able to meet Arthur’s wife Marie, the sole owner of the company, however, Arthur was a pleasure to work with. He not only gave me a great deal on my stay but made me feel comfortable with where I was staying. The crepes each morning were wonderful and the housekeeping always kept up with my room/ asked me if I needed anything, always! Arthur I want to thank you personally for offering me a beautiful room during the month a hit rock bottom, truly a great family and establishment.

I cannot express how much I LOVED staying at the Metro Hotel!

I needed a last minute place to stay and this place was just what my soul needed;
I could not believe this place existed....think a smaller Madonna Inn with a focused theme of French Kitsch with a side of California Country.

A couple runs the Hotel: Marie and Arthur.

Marie is French and is the genius behind the design which hosts brightly colored furniture splashed with collected vintage items.

I was warmly greeted by Arthur who was a great representation of the space... he has a warm heart and a delightful twinkle in his eye.

The hotel is actually pieces of a home built in the 1920s that were driven over to the location and placed back together. Around the property you'll find little Airstreams you can rent surrounded by cute pink flamingo lawn ornaments.

This place is a full on vibe and I am so grateful I was able to stay here and experience this surreal lodging nestled in beautiful Petaluma.

Thank you to the owners and staff of the Metro Hotel. You really got something special goin' on!

In one word, this place is MAGIC. I plan to come back sooner than later.

I try to come here to my hideaway when I need a few days solo. It's my 3Rd time

and I always try out a different room. I hand wrote a note along with a tip for housekeeping and thought I'd make this post the same. For cleanliness this hotel gets 5 stars, you can just feel and smell how clean the rooms are even with the antique vibe. And again the staff are all friendly and calm and laid back. No one is in your face trying to get you to spend all your money.

I thought of some suggestions that might bring in more business or returning guests. Maybe you guys could Offer some promotions such as buy 2 nights get 3rd.half off or 4th night free. Offering a dinner for two with a 3 night booking at your restaurant, or credit that can be used there. Having add ons to room bookings like bubbly water, wine, cheese plates at check in in the room. Xsmall refrigerators in smaller rooms as well.
Anyways your place is perfect exactly how it is but I know those things helped my old hotel when things were slow. Still would love to work here even if it's just one day a week! I sent my resume in I think a long time ago, but will resend in case you start needing help at the front desk.

Love this hotel through and through. I have traveled all over the world and this is top 5 favorite spots of all time. A hidden gem in wine country.
Thanks!

We live in Petaluma, so we know of the Metro Hotel as we walk and drive past it. It has always impressed us with it’s charm and quirkiness. We decided to take a break from our failed water heater at home and take advantage of hot water and a large tub. We found the Metro to be a marvelous find! Everywhere you look, there’re touches of Europe, Paris in particular, with antiques in nooks and crannies, posters from there, and even colors that remind you of the City of Light. The staff is stellar, friendly, extremely helpful, accommodating, and clean. What more can one ask for?
Our room, #200, is right behind the outside sign saying “Hotel” lit with blue lightbulbs and although it is right on Petaluma Boulevard North, was surprisingly quiet. There are large, nearly light-proof curtains to draw which blocks the light from the spotlights at night. There is a small alcove where we ate our continental breakfast. Our bed was of the European style: a bottom sheet, a top sheet, and a large comforter. Many pillows. Very comfortable.
Although we didn’t see other rooms, the floor plan makes them all look large and unusual. If you prefer, you may even stay in one of the three Airstream trailers on the property.
Our room, in fact the entire hotel, is a fine example of “shabby chic.” If you’re looking for modern, harsh, industrial decor, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for whimsy and charm, I say check out the Metro Hotel in Petaluma.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at this charming small hotel tastefully decorated with French style furnishings. We enjoyed our queen sized room on the ground floor that opened up to a small outdoor patio. Morning coffee and pastries were available in the cafe as well as access to a microwave and refrigerator. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is located on a street that is busy during the day but much more quiet at night. The location is very convenient - in a safe residential neighborhood with an easy 10 minute walk to interesting shops and good restaurants in the historical downtown Petaluma.

We had such a great time at the Metro Hotel & Cafe...it is absolutely unique! It feels like you have stepped into Paris for a night or two. We had two rooms and both were awesome...very cozy and clean. Great location to walk to all the shops and restaurants too. Our morning was filled with crepes, incredible pour over coffee, and other goodies (all included in the price- such a deal)... what I enjoyed most was the personal attention we received from Arthur (owner) who made sure we had just the right rooms at the right price. He couldn’t have been more accommodating & friendly. So- if you find yourself in Sonoma (go there- it is a quaint, fun town) be sure and stay at the Metro Hotel & Cafe.

We just spent a long weekend here in a double room upstairs - and we stayed in the lil' airstreamer in 2015. Loved both experiences.

It's wonderful to stay in a well-maintained historical property that's been updated in such a whimsical French style! It's quiet and solid, and full of surprising antiques that aren't like Grandma's.

Best-smelling towels and sheets ever!! I know that's random, but you'll see what I mean.

Plenty of onsite parking. Easy to walk to restaurants, beautiful neighborhoods and parks to stroll.

Breakfast is a treat, with homemade crepes and bakery and fresh coffee, with seating in a lovely cafe setting or outside on the patio.

Great hosts and staff who were so friendly and helpful. THANK you for a fantastic stay once again!

With its stunning decor and friendly atmosphere, this is the best value near or in Napa. This is our third visit and it keeps getting better and better. Great staff and continuous updates keeps the hotel fresh and alive. Everytime we walk in here, the stress levels drop. Also, I love their ala carte breakfast and fresh coffee.

This is much more like a great like B&B than a hotel. The owners are there to greet you with a smile. They are also great for conversation with lots of great stories.

Rooms:
The French decor is something that gives this place a homey fell. We've stayed in both their standard rooms and now a suite. They all bring me to France and make me feel at home. The bed are super comfortable.

Our room had a claw bathtub to die for. In addition they have boutique shampoo, soap and bubble baths to make you never want to get out of the bath.

Breakfast:

Included and self serve. They have amazing top of the line coffee and self serve crepes. They also provide eggs and pastries that are great.

Visiting this hotel is an experience/destination in itself if you are into great B&B or want to visit wine country.

This was my first time at Metro Hotel and hopefully will not be my last. If you love retro charm and character this place is everything, It's a combo of rustic chic and Parisian flair. My room was spacious and very comfortable. The room came with an ice bucket and two wine glasses ! How did they know? The bed was very comfortable with wonderful linens, there was a big tv with streaming ease, indoor and outdoor seating , a very large bathroom with an open shower(love that! ), nice toiletries, wood floors and a large wardrobe to unpack in. There were blackout drapes for sleeping in. There's a sweet cafe with fresh coffee, tea, fruit ,and crepes for breakfast that's included. With a great location walking distance to downtown Petaluma you are set. I can't wait to go back. This place oozes with charm and grace.
