We landed at Hotel Petaluma due to a wildfire evacuation and stayed a week. Hotel was built in 1925 and we were surprised to find the room spacious. A small fridge was provided and a smart TV with easy casting . A microwave was available which was helpful for our needs. The staff was always pleasant and accommodating as we needed to extend our stay 4 times. Housekeeping was helpful when we needed supplies and fresh bedding. Lovely location in downtown and walking distance to restaurants and a well stocked local market. Parking is not provided, rather, one parks on the street and is subject to time limitation; we were able to make this work. Only downside was highly scented toiletries which was surprising since many hotels are moving away from that due to peoples' allergies. Their elevator failed several times while we were there and was quickly fixed but more importantly is due to be replaced in November. Can highly recommend.

Hotel Petaluma is beautiful, inside and out. The old-style feel of this place fits in perfectly with downtown Petaluma and everything is within walking distance! Their social distancing and pandemic cleaning will put you at ease if you're traveling during this time. The rooms are beautifully redone, the beds are super comfortable, and the linens are nice and clean. The shuttered windows let in tons of light (or not, if you like to sleep in like me). Overall, this was an absolutely wonderful stay!

My husband and I came to Petaluma for our niece's memorial. We were pleasantly surprised with the charm of this historic hotel with modern conveniences. I use a wheelchair so having an ADA room is important. We were told that we would have a walk-in shower but our room only had handrails with a tub and tall toilet. Not wanting to cause any problems, we did not ask for another room. The room was very clean, beautiful and comfortable with tile floors and no carpeting. The elevator was a fun experience and large enough for me to maneuver my wheelchair inside with no problems. However, the parking is difficult. When we arrived, there was a spot to park on the street but it was on a hill and no place to take a wheelchair from the car to the sidewalk. We also had to move it to the bank lot across the street which was not easy for my husband to carry all our luggage back and forth since I could not carry any. On Saturday, the lot also has an hourly pass for local restaurants and shopping. When we returned late Saturday night from the memorial, the lot was full and it was raining. We sat in the car and waited for someone to leave. We then had to make our way on wet, sloped streets with a wheelchair. I only mention this as a helpful heads up for anyone in my situation. Breakfast was lovely in the Lobby and our sister was able to come and fellowship with us while we ate.

The Hotel Petaluma is in an ideal location: downtown and walking distance to most tourist-friendly activities. The staff of the hotel are quite warm and helpful. The rooms were clean and well laid out (although small). They even provide texts asking for feedback during our stay. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. The singular reason for me to have a hotel room is to get a good night's sleep. That was impossible for my wife and me during the two nights we stayed at the hotel. We requested a quiet room and were situated at the back of the hotel on the 4th of 5 floors. It should have been quiet. However, many factors contributed to our inability to sleep. The room door to the hallway was ill fitting and sounds from the outside hall easily passed into the room. Between rooms, we could easily hear and understand conversations between our neighboring rooms, despite the occupants speaking at normal conversational volumes. Last and worst, there were a variety of mechanical noises we heard throughout the night ranging from broken glass and trash sounds coming from behind the hotel to unidentifiable rhythmic motor sounds that were intermittently, but repetitively heard. We were surprised on our arrival to find hotel-issued earplugs at the bedside: yet, despite using them, we were repeatedly awakened by these noises throughout the night. If you are sensitive to noisy environments, this hotel is not for you.

I had room 315 right next to the elevator and it was awful. The elevator dates way back and it’s extremely loud going up and down the floors. I had to put a white noise on my phone to help wean out the noise. It didn’t help much but I did get a few hours of sleep. Now for the good, the receptionist and the bartender were both very nice and helpful. The bar in the lobby next to a fireplace was a nice touch after a 7 hour drive. There is a wine tasting room off of the lobby that sells wine and it was a nice and convenient way to buy a bottle without having to walk to the store. The hotel is in a great location if you enjoy walking a little. Parking can be a bit difficult to find but you can get a pass for a lot across the street, but you must be out by 8am. The lot is easy to park in and close to the hotel, otherwise it’s street parking,if you can find it. If I had to return,I’d request a room far away from the elevator and hopefully away from any other occupied rooms as the walls are thin. Nice little town.. enjoy!

Our one night stay was absolutely horrendous. The photos of this hotel are instagram influencer photoshopped and check in is at 4pm, if you want to check in earlier then they’ll charge you an extra $25. Certainly not worth over $200 per night. When we told the front desk guy that we had parked around the corner because there weren’t any spaces closer, he didn’t mention the other parking spaces they had for guests because I guess they don’t give them to people staying just one night. All night we heard car alarms so we had anxiety that maybe people were breaking into cars. On top of that, we didn’t sleep at all because our room was extremely cold. We turned the “heater” on immediately after arriving because it was so cold but it didn’t do much and we froze all night. The “heater” wouldn’t go past a certain temp and the air that came out of it was cool, not warm. We didn’t even want to shower because it was so cold!! And before management comes to respond to tell us that we didn’t turn the heater on properly, we aren’t dumb. I went through the options to ‘heat’. Still didn’t make it warm and it said it was at 83 degrees! That was certainly a lie. ON TOP OF THAT, our sleep was also affected by a large pipe in our room. So, when people starting showering from 4am, we heard it nonstop. The water, the grunts, the pipes, everything. Disgusting experience! We had high hopes as we always stay in boutique hotels but don’t be fooled by the photos. Granted, the bar staff are kind and make great drinks! The location is superb but if you can, find something cheaper where you’ll get more value for your money. This is the first and last time we’ve been wrong about a hotel ranked over 4 stars. We will never stay here again. Oh, let’s not mention that they tell everyone to keep their masks on while not actively drinking but forget to enforce this with the locals who come to drink on Saturday night.

Dear Clarissa, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We take our shortcomings seriously, and will work hard to make sure that we do not repeat these mistakes in the future. I am so sorry that your sleep was interrupted by the noise from the streets. We provide earplugs to our guests so they do not get disturbed. We are aware that we have a limited parking area. You could have asked the help of our front desk. They are always here to help you. Please accept our sincere apologies that your stay was not up to the mark. We hope you will give us another chance to host you more successfully! Sincere Regards, Hotel Petaluma Management

This is the second time we have stayed here, both times were because we evacuated from a wildfire. Both experiences exceeded my expectations. They allowed us to extend our stay as long as we needed and prioritized people that had to evacuate. The hotel was a nice clean room. It is on the smaller side so it could feel cramped for some but was a nice location to walk downtown. Parking is the only difficulty here as the close parking lot wants you to move it during the day. But you can pay a deposit that is refundable to park in a garage. The have hand sanitizers throughout the hotel which made me feel safe. You can get the Shuckery restaurant to deliver room service which was excellent. The old Otis elevator is also a neat experience. Hands down recommend this place.

We booked a last-minute trip through Hotel Tonight. Customer service came through for us twice; first when changing our reservation to a night later due to the wildfires, and then again upgrading us to a better room when our first room had some residual cigarette smell. The lobby has the fragrance of a fancy hotel, and the repurposed freight elevator is a great touch for the younger travelers (like me) who appreciate adaptive reuse. Rooms were comfortable, but the marble-tiled bathrooms were definitely the star.

Originally planned as a two night stay on a five day Northern California trip. Luckily we decided to stay three nights at Hotel Petaluma. The hotel was everything that I could have imagined and more. The location was wonderful because we could walk anywhere in downtown and eat at all these wonderful restaurants, and shop in very cute boutique. The charm of the hotel can be felt as soon as I stepped in the courtyard. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Petaluma for its location and understated sophistication. Don’t forget to eat at the restaurant Shuckery downstairs. We would gladly return and stay again.

The check in was smooth and easy, as was the checkout. Everyone was kind and professional. We were in the type of room I requested - a quiet room with king bed and a bathtub in the room (room 308).
Our little dog also enjoyed her stay! She was treated very well.
The hotel also provided a 50% off coupon for the wine tasting next door, and a token for $2.00 off at the nearby restaurant (the Shuckery), where we enjoyed happy hour. It was so good that a few hours later we had a wonderful dinner.

We didn't have any issues with noise, but maybe no one was in the rooms next to us. We also did not have a room close to the elevator. I did hear they are updating their elevator, though. So, that may help in the future. Very comfortable beds and nice rooms. Nothing huge, but charming. And the hotel lobby/bar area was wonderful! Great place to hang out and read, grab some oysters at the bar, and have a cocktail. Loved the overall vibe of the hotel - charming old style and great staff!
