We stayed in a room across from the beautiful pool with 2 beds.
All around us was stunning natural beauty.
Stayed here because the rest of our party had booked here as it was close to the venue .First off the carpet makes you not want to take a step without shoes on, the beds were made and appeared tidy but I couldn't get over the state of the carpet. The TV's picture was zoomed in and would only display the top 1/4 of any program or video that was playing. The Samsung TV option was scaled correctly however anything playing would only show the extremely zoomed in partial Pic. Even more disappointing, during our entirety of our visit the Internet that the TV was connected to was only showing 3-5 seconds before cutting out/buffering. The free wifi is a complete joke as it is not sufficient to stream a video much less an entire movie/'s. To top it off when I went to get my deposit ,I paid cash for the room $ 142 plus$50 deposit. I handed the lady a single 1 hundred note 2 fifty's and 2 one dollar bills ( I paid$202 so I would get $60 back with the deposit instead of the $50 as I had no change ) on the receipt she had already wrote the totals I was to pay not the amount I paid her as she had no idea what I was planning and she had already finished the recite so i wrote 202 on my carbon copy and made Shure to both tell her and visually confirm flashing the bills in front of both of us as I counted it out. I Figured she just didn't want to redo the receipt, fine. I had done my part to confirm the totals and I told her I would just get it back with the deposit as she was helping my nephew next and we were running late and had to get dressed for the ceremony. I thought this would avoid any questions about this at checkout as the paperwork didn't show any change even after I had made her aware of the payment. She nodded to me and that was all I needed. Well at checkout it was an older male who was pleasant both on the phone and in person ( I had called to ask about checkout time ) and understandably he needed to confirm this with her. The distinguished lady came out with a distorted face angrily insisting it was not true...I was flabbergasted! Her story was that she gave me $10 change the day before which was either an outright lie or her mistake. Either way it was the worst part of my stay. Luckily the older gentleman said it was okay but it was not okay with me. I didn't even mention how terrible our stay was I just grabbed my deposit plus the extra $10 I paid and left.

If you are looking to stay at a quiet motel, do not stay at this one. My husband and I stayed here for a few days and I have to say this was the noisiest motel I have ever stayed at. My husband complained to the manager/owner regarding a child bouncing a basketball in the parking lot. It turned out it was the owners child, so nothing was done. I should have known to stay away when I saw the basketball hoop in the parking lot (right next to the rooms). On the weekend the kid was out there at 7:30 a.m. bouncing the damn basketball. My husband and I were livid. Called the front desk to complain, NOTHING was done! As far as the rooms, they were fine. A bit nicer than a motel 6 and clean. If it weren't for the noise, I would recommend this as a nice place to stay. I would never stay there again. If you're like me, when you stay at a motel you want QUIET! The managers/owners could care less if you complain about noise because they will do NOTHING!

Every other place in Placerville was booked the weekend we were to attend a wedding. The Mother Lode motel didn't have access on line either so I had to call for reservations. I reserved a room with a queen bed and a room with a king bed. The motel is located up the hill in a lovely area. I wasn't sure when we arrived as the outside of the motel and the parking lot need some work. The owner has obviously put the money into rennovating the rooms and baths first. Both rooms were newly rennovated and clean. The bathrooms had new tile in the shower and the shower heads were high (we are tall and notice this). One room hadn't been entirely rennovated as the floor in the bath was still linoleum and the door frame for the bathroom door had just been installed. The rooms were nice, though decorated differently (pleasant change). The baths were roomy. The pool also looked newly rennovated and was sparkling clean. Having the mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee service in each room was handy. I will stay here again, but will bring my own pillows. The pillows were hard and flat, to me the clean roomy bath is more important.

The room #21 had the following issues: Drapes were broke (jury rigged it to have some assemblance of privacy), bathroom light did not go on, hole in the wall, etc...
We also lost power at 615pm, guy came by with flashlight (was a candle with no matches. lol). So no A/C, no lights, no hot water (no showers). We still got charged a pretty price $77 +$50 (was suppose to be a deposit). So $127 total for a horrible experience... My advise stay away

We should have asked to see a room before paying. but the less time spent with the decidedly unfriendly owners the better. The room was so small that there was no room for even a single chair. The bed cover was old and worn thin. The carpet was old, worn and torn. The sink was vey slow to drain and the cross bar on the towel rack was missing. The wall had been patched but not painted. It was a cool night and the heater did not work. After the owner fiddled with it to no avail, he brought in an electric space heater. We asked if we couldn't just move next door. He said it was reserved. The next morning it was still vacant'' Be prepared to pay an extra $20 for a pet and a $50 deposit. Drive an extra 10 miles to the next town.

Absolutely horrendous. I'm travel here from Ireland and I have never experienced such vile staff, greedy and aggressive. After all my years traveling this is the rudest, most inhospitable place I have ever stayed. Places like this give small town America a bad name. You'd be better off sleeping in your car.

We checked in and were not impressed with the cleanliness of the room. We noticed some people watching us go into the room. Later that afternoon there was a knock on the door asking if we were someone and they told a story of how they thought we were someone else. The pool was locked late afternoon and the attendant needed to unlock it. I named my concern about the gentleman at our door. He stated that he had someone come and ask him about us, describing us perfectly to him and he gave them our room number. We did not feel comfortable and requested that our room was switched or a refund based on the information that was provided. We were told that we were unreasonable to expect this and she would not refund our money and knew where we lived.

We booked a room at the Mother Lode motel in Placerville, CA. over 2 months ahead of time. Somewhere along the line it was lost in translation that we had our two kids with us, and after we payed for the room, they said it was a problem. We had been driving for a long time, we came from Utah. We felt she was trying to overcharge us at that point, as they wanted $55 more dollars for the three nights, but we payed the money anyway. Then we looked at our room, and it was disgusting! There was blood on the bathroom door frame, boogers (yes, really) on the walls, pubic hair in the bed, poop (dog, I think) on the floor, poop on the toilet seat, coffee creamer (I hope) on the wall, etc... So, I called the booking agency we used and asked if there was any kind of a guarantee on the room through them, and they went ahead and called the front desk. The owner said there was nothing wrong with the room. I went and talked to her myself, and had her come and look at the room and said we just wanted it cleaned. She was very upset at us, and finally got housekeeping there (the housekeeper was very nice) and we would have been happy at that point. Then both of the owners came and told us we needed to leave, and I told them that if there was no charge at all, we would find somewhere else. I was tired of the conflict, as we had been stuffed in the car for many hours. The sad thing was we had already unloaded the car, and now had to reload it. My kids said they would rather stay in the car than that room, that's how dirty it was. I also want to add in that me and my wife are disabled, and my wife is on oxygen at night. The hotel owners were advised of this, and didn't really care. Sadly, all we wanted was the room to be clean, and it seems that it was too much for them to do for us. We ended up talking to the Super 8 Motel down the road, and they didn't have any rooms but set us up at a Motel 6 in Cameron Park. That room was very clean, and we were very happy with it.

This review is meant to be informative to others traveling in the same place. I am posting this at 3:30 am. Not a good sign. I am working class, the room booked using Priceline for $109 is now costing me $169, I usually use their competitor and have not ever had this problem. I will not use Priceline again. Lesson learned. As for the hotel itself? Because I am using their room, I will pay for the use of it. Between the smells of bleach and mildew, I have an awful headache, the bedding was really bad. I laid the towels on the bed to try to sleep. When I use the a/c a weird smell came through. The bathroom light did not work, toilet looked dirty. To me $169 is not cheap for a room and I write this purely to inform another from going through the same experience. If those things would make you feel like you were ripped off? Then Please learn from another’s truthful experience.

I strongly suggest guest read the reviews before booking these rooms. The operators own both Mother Load Lodge and Gold Trail motor lodge.

Both my father and I searched for hotels in Placerville via a simple Google search on the drive from SoCal. The prices ranged between 70-80 dollars. We booked a room via Expedia clearly indicating there were 2 guests. The charge was 88 dollars after taxes. We explicitly put in the notes that we request 2 separate beds.

Upon arrival we were asked to stay at the Mother Load Lodge because they didn’t have two beds available at Gold Trail. We drove next store to check in. The total charge to my card was $157.80. They increased the price to $107.80 PLUS charged another $50 dollars deposit.

The women was EXTREMELY RUDE and completely unaccommodating. It was to late (10:30pm) to dispute the charge and find some where else to stay.

I gave them a two because the rooms were clean.
