We have been booked to stay here for a weekend, in October, for the past 6 years. Out of those 6 years they have cancelled our reservations at the very last minute twice. One time we ended up having to stay about 45 mins away. They did it to us again this past weekend but we were lucky enough to get another reservation in town. I do like this place, very clean and quite.

Not the most spectacular of places but it was a clean place to rest our heads for a couple of days. Our bathroom was huge and the towels were nice and fluffy and as I said upon entering it was clean even just by smell. I almost rated it a 2 though just because of several things. The beds are not the greatest nor the pillows. And the wifi...just forget about it. It was total crap saying you were connected on several different ones they had but unable to open anything on my phone. The TV in our room was garbage too. The volume on the highest level couldn't be heard over the cooler (which did work great) so we had to turn it on on commercials only. But overall it was good value. Btw...the size of the bathroom makes up for the lack of bedroom space :)

There is no main office, you have to go to the mother lode motel. They didn't give us a key card after payment. We had to wait for someone to come up tithe room to give it to us. We couldn't park in front of our room because cars were already there. Plenty of rooms available for the night but they lumped four separate parties next door to each other. They didn't give us an internet code, we tried to call the front desk but the room phone doesn't work. Had to walk to the other motel to find the code and even still the wireless connection resets every minute or two causing u to relog in.

Best I can say is at least there weren’t bed bugs. Uncomfortable beds, furniture that would give secondhand a bad name, flimsy curtains, and owner issued another person our room key. Person opened door at 1:30 am. No apology from owner until I mentioned it on checkout.

AC didn't work, silverfish crawling on walls, bathroom floor, my bed, curtains wouldn't cover the entire window, no wifi. The MotherLode Motel or National 9 are better choices. No pool here. Faces highway 50, super noisy. Nothing to eat or drink within walking distance.

Wow. This place is just... awful. The office is vacant. You have to walk through another property to get to *another* motel to check in, then haul yourselves back up a hill to your room. The room had obviously been remodeled, but... that's about it. No cleaning. No clean bedding. Holes in ceiling. Missing smoke detector. A toilet that didn't flush properly. A "splatter" to go along with the hairs stuck to the wall next to the toilet. Hot and cold water were reversed in the dirty shower, with the dirty shower curtain. No bath mat. Shortage of towels and pillows. Multiple dead bugs. LOTS of cobwebs. You could see through cracks in the wall to the outside. Dirty A/C filter. Water came INTO the room from outside. No safety/secondary lock on door. Scratches and scruffs seemingly everywhere. An odd smell. Food (hopefully?) residue by the microwave. A keycard that stopped working. It's... it was just pretty bad.

There were three of us and two were disables with service dogs we even gave them a copy of their certificates.. The owners ended up charging us for dog stay because we did not take the dogs with us for 2 hours. Service animals are supposed to be free. They gave us no rules and regulations when we checked in. There was only 2 towels in our room. We asked for 3 more for our two night stay and they would not give us 3. They gave us 2. The key cards did not work half the time. We had to have the owner let us in! Then the free breakfast advertised turned out to be a box of Danish sitting on the office counter. The real kicker, my friends, who are disabled, left two bags in the motel when we checked out. When they phoned them after arriving home, they said they threw everything out in the garbage! There was a brand new blender in the bag as well as the stainless steel dog bowls and some food stuff. We will NEVER stay there again.
We also had to go get a bath matt because the tub was so slippery my elderly friends could never have been ok.

When you book online they say they can not find your reservation, so you will rent a different and be charged twice never getting your money back from the reservation that they can not find. The rooms are very old, torn down, full of bugs, shower does not work, the bedding and pillows are gross, old and dirty. Matresses and box springs are old and torn. Very unpleasant stay!!!!

We reserved a room at the Gold Trail Motor Lodge January 16-17, 2015. We arrived late that night and was charged an extra $25 per night for our 3rd person. The owners assigned room 12 at their adjoining Mother Lode Motel giving the excuse that no rooms were ready at the Gold Trail Motor Lodge. We walked into our room and were greeted with an offensive smell and dirty room. The bathroom shower had a dirty floor and there was a hole in the ceiling. I had to clean the toilet before we used it. The jacuzzi tub had stagnant water at the base, leftover food from a prior guest in the refrigerator, and a used coffee pouch in the coffee machine. Our 3rd person was so disgusted he slept on top of the bed covers. The next morning we packed up and requested a clean room for our 2nd night. As the day wore on the members of our group decided the Hotel was unacceptably gross and that we needed to cancel. I called at 2:30pm to cancel and asked to be refunded my $80 for the 2nd night but the owner required that I cancel with PriceLine (Booking.com.). He was disagreeable and very rude. So, I was able to connect to Internet later that evening and discussed our unsatisfactory experience with a Booking.com representative. One hour later the representative called back stating the owners would not refund our $80 stating they were contacted too late for cancelation. I personally contacted the owners again and when I questioned their unfair practice, she called me a liar and cheater. I currently have an appeal and complaint registered with the 3rd/4th party providers. Other unhappy customers complained about the Mother Lode Motel on Trip Advisor and I would never have accepted a room there if I had read those reviews.

Nice stop from Bay Area to Tahoe. Leaving on a Friday night from Bay area to Placerville we hit a lot of traffic. It was nice to end up here and then go to Tahoe Saturday morning. Room was nice and clean, a great value, owner is very nice and accommodating. Son left his pillow and room, I called owner and he held the pillow for us. I would come back for sure.
