The National 9 Inn in Placerville CA is a clean, well kept older motel with very reasonable prices. The bed was comfortable, hot water hot, the tv had a good number of channels. The furnishings are a bit dated, but that was not a problem and expected. I was warmly welcomed by the lady (owner?) at the front desk. My one complaint were the lampshades on all the lights in the room. They were all ripped and torn inside (see pictures). On a previous stay a few months ago the light shades in the room I was in were the same. As these lampshades don’t cost much at all, I’d recommend that this National 9 purchase some on line or head to the nearest Walmart to buy some. It would make the room look much nicer, especially when the lights are on, at a minimal cost.

I stayed here on a recent trip. Spent two nights in two different rooms and both were fine. The building is an older two story drive-up motel. The rooms were clean and the bed was fine. The staff at the desk were very nice and even took care of me when I needed a plastic fork one evening. The road that runs next to the building is noisy but it dies down by bed time. I'd have no problem staying there on my next trip.

What a find! It's not fancy, but it's got almost everything else travelers need: Clean room. Heaven-sent beds. Frig, TV, microwave, A/C. The manager is an absolute gem, as is her assistant: friendly yet professional, knowledgeable, polite, responsive, charming, great sense of humor. These people know the hospitality industry. And, if all this goodness isn't enough, it's one of the least expensive places to stay in an over-priced market. I go to Placerville regularly, and this in the only place I'll stay now after trying several other local motels/inns.

This is the best of at least 5 of the average priced motels in this town. Great shower, clean with a big room. Pillows very comfortable, friendly and helpful reception, reasonably priced for longer stay, and best of all, wireless internet access. I have stayed at others too, and this is the one I highly recommend.

We checked in late but it wasn't an issue at he reception. We received a free WiFi password.
This hotel is very clean. It is very basic but it was better than most Best Western I've previously stayed in. Our room was a truly NON-Smoking room which did not smell of cold cigarette smoke.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. if you are looking for an affordable option that is not a dump. The room was clean, the sheets were clean and the towels were clean. That's alI ask and believe me I've had my lot a bad surprised before...

I'll start by admitting that I am a Hilton/ Hyatt kind of guy when it comes to vacation and travel lodging. So I was a little upset and confused when my wife reserved a room at National 9 MOTEL. She said the reviews were good and there wasn't much to choose from; so we decided to check it out and if it was dirty or unkept we would find somewhere else to stay. When we got to the motel my first impression was that it looked like a typical motel... nothing special really, but it appeared clean and orderly so we proceeded. My first impression of the staff was that they were unbelievably friendly and accommodating- as if customer service was the cornerstone on which they establish business relations... but I was still skeptical- this is the National 9 we're talking about not a big 5 star resort. We checked in and brought our stuff up to our room and on the way I thought to myself, "here we go, the dirties room ever..." but to my surprise the room was immaculately clean. It was my wife's birthday and we were up north on a whitewater rafting trip (which was planned for her birthday) but I wanted to do something special for her and I thought a birthday cake and candles would be a nice touch after dinner. So I called down and informed the lady working the front desk (Kim I believe her name was...) and asked her for suggestions. She immediately offered to help and even took the liberty of going out on her free time to get all of the decorations. She ordered the cake which was baked just hours before we returned to our room after dinner, and spent more of her free time DECORATING our room. Yes you read that correctly- she did all of this expecting nothing in return except for a surprised birthday girl. I have traveled far and wide, stayed in more 5 star resorts then I care to recollect at the moment and I have never ever encountered such customer service as I did at National 9. Now I'll admit that National 9 is no Hilton or Hyatt, but given the choice- I would stay at National 9 hands down.

Okay, here is the deal. It is family owned and operated. Very sweet family. It is nothing to write home about except it is clean and the owner is very customer service oriented. The WiFi is one of the best I have EVER experienced regardless of price or location. The traffic noise might be an issue, but again the owner will work with you. I would recommend National 9 Inn with current owner/mgmt.

Our stay was last minute and unplanned. Our car broke down on Friday night in Placerville and no other place was available. When we called around 9:30 PM to make a reservation we talked to a nice woman who held the last room available for us. After we explained to her that our car broke down and we are waiting for a cab, she said not to worry, the owner(s) will be here in about an hour, they are pretty good about waiting for guests and sometimes have people checking in at 1 AM. Finally the cab arrived and we made it to the motel around midnight. The office lights were on and the door was closed. We rang the door bell... nothing. The nice cab driver was still there to make sure someone from the inn would show up and we did not want to be left stranded in the middle of the night, so while the cab was still there, we rang frantically again and again and again, not sure the bell was even working because we couldn't hear the bell sound. Finally, after a number of rings a woman came storming out and yelling "are you the one ringing like a crazy person" and continued screaming at us. To her defense, she yelled that we woke up her baby with the ringing (We felt bad about waking the baby). Her rage was unstoppable: she expected us at 11, we were late, she was waiting, saying it's not her fault our car broke down and the cab was late, saying that she turned down two people because she was waiting for us. Then she demanded an apology, saying she wouldn't rent us a room unless we apologized. We were trying to reason with her and calm her down. Of course, we felt bad about waking the baby and apologized for that. She paused for a moment, but then continued yelling and making angry gestures, not giving my husband the pen to sign the credit card payment. To make a long story short: sure, we could have only rung the door bell once and waited for someone to come out. However, her rage and rudeness were way out of line. We will never, ever stay at this place and will not recommend it to anyone we wish well. On the plus side, our room was clean, the bathroom was clean with new tile floor, but there was no shampoo (no big deal).

Recently stayed here while attending an area function. Very comfortable quiet night sleep! Yes, rooms are very basic, but very clean!!! Wife and I stay at many very high end places and spend four times what these rooms go for. With the price of gasoline these days, saving money is a big deal to most. Staff are very accomodating and friendly too.

This was the best possible version of a roadside motel. The room was spotless, the furniture was all new, and the towels were surprisingly substantial for a motel. Great water pressure in the shower. The bed was perfectly comfortable. The setting was quiet. The owner/manager was amazingly friendly, pleasant and helpful when we checked in.

We got way more than our money's worth. We've already decided that we will stay here again when we come back to Placerville.
