Detailed Reviews
Coloma Spring Suites is located in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of Placerville. It was built over a hundred years ago, and has been renovated with new modern fixtures and beautiful decorations, inside and out.
In our suite, the bed was comfortable and scrupulously clean. The furniture was gorgeous; several pieces were constructed with beautiful antique wood from an old barn, including the electric fireplace. Much of the furniture was arts and crafts style.
The kitchen was fully equipped. Even the handy information booklet, with info on the large screen TV, wifi password, how to turn on the gas fireplace, phone numbers for any questions, and other useful information, was flawlessly done.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was the kind of place we felt we could live in forever.

You’ll have plenty to do in this neighborhood without even getting in your car. Placerville has become the heart of El Dorado’s wine country and, wherever there’s good wine, there’s great food too. Dana, the innkeeper, was a huge help with restaurant suggestions and even told us about fun local events. You won’t miss an art and wine street fair or local organic farmer’s market if you can drag yourself away from all the lovely wineries in the area. Not a dull moment yet plenty of countryside to feel like you’re getting away.
All over Placerville you get a sense of its history from its charming buildings. Sometimes the charming details get replaced when upgrading or renovating a home with today’s modern touches. But it takes true pride of ownership to work around a home’s natural antiquity while upgrading to current clean lines and new décor. Coloma Springs showcases details like wood paneling, integrated shelving, and textured wall prints yet everything in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are brand new. The owners clearly made some thoughtfully careful decisions when renovating this place into a vacation rental that maintains its historical appeal.

Although I was only able to stay a short time while visiting some friends in the Placerville, CA area, my experiences with Coloma Spring Suites was more than pleasant. The reservations were very simple, they have extra accommodations that made my stay that much more convient. The environment was very relaxing and quiet. The suite was incredibly clean. I would like to know more about the bed as I want one for my home, very comfortable!! I would love to come back for a longer stay in the future. A+++

Everything was lovely- great soaps, linens, creative use of space and well decorated. In historic district in walking distance from downtown with good eats, cute stores. Wendy was very helpful in answering questions. Suite has smart tv which has no basic cable and many options require you to sign into your accounts (HBO etc) so bring your login info.
Very comfortable lodging and very clean.

In a larger city or a more heavily touristed area this apartment suite
might cost double. Beautiful furnishings, stencil painted irises and
a cute garden area add to the charm of this converted historic home.
Their tv and sound bar system with netflix streaming was more complete than our home system! We arrived on a particularly hot August day and the room was too warm, and this especially made the daybed room too hot for our son to use as planned. The owners were incredibly responsive offering a discount and having a fan delivered despite the late hour via their in-town manager. They even had a bottle of local wine delivered as a nice gesture. Day
two was much cooler inside by running the AC on max all day, closing all the blinds early a.m. and cracking the bathroom and daybed room ceiling windows. Definitely consider
staying here to break up the drive to/from Lake Tahoe or just as a
jumping off point to harvest fest activities in the Apple Hill area or
the overlapping El Dorado county wineries just 2-3 miles away. We and our son loved the mining history at the in-town gold bug mine & state park as well as the nearby Coloma area with panning for gold after a quick lesson from park employees. Wines were surprisingly impressive from Nello Olivio (walkable), Lava Cap & Grace Patriot, the latter of which beat out all the Napa and Sonoma wineries at the state fair for Tempranillo and Cab this past year. All this relaxation without the Napa traffic and steep tasting fees. Restaurants were similarly very good and plenty to keep you busy for a long
weekend. The owners gave extensive tips on family-friendly activities, Apple Hill highlights, etc.

The Iris Room is the larger of the two rooms but is is on the front of the house. This means you can hear the cars passing by. Perhaps Dana forgot to mention that we have special heavy curtains that keep out light and deaden any sound from the street. I understand some people need a room to be very dark and quiet in order to sleep. The blinds usually do the trick.
We have had other guests book twice on Flip Key. I am not sure why that happens. I will talk to the people at Flip Key to find out why this situation occurs. Flip Key often upgrades their site and this can result in confusion.
We take all suggestions seriously and will check and double check to make sure we provide the best experience possible to all future guests,
Thanks you for your sharing your concerns,
Wendy
