Detailed Reviews
First of all we got a notice in the mail with similar offers as a time share would offer from Ghost Mountain RV Resort (private membership).. We called and made an appointment..
We pulled in late on a Thursday afternoon.. Appt with agent at 10am the next day.
This was our very first time at a "camping membership". We really had no idea what it was all about.
We had Jerry as our agent. He first introduced himself and told us his whole life work history, about 35 minutes worth or so (he had had many jobs over the years).. Seemed like a nice man.. And mind you we have not even seen the park yet, due to we got in so late the day before. He went on to show us all the photos of the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA resorts that this is affiliated with Colorado River Adventures. All looked great in the pictures, but as I said we never had seen this facility as of yet! So as he talked he asked us if this would be something we would be interested in? We said probably not.. This camping that he had described to us was for families with small children that needed to be entertained! Or if you were a full time RVer you might like it. But for us it wouldn’t pay for itself. Ahh then the attitude started. I said I still would like to know what the “bottom line was”, etc.. He was reluctant to tell us, however he did. There were 3 different memberships, $12K, $11K and a $10K, and after you said NO, it was $6K. And maintenance fees were $600 plus a year (with no cap), or if you were a senior it was about $450 a year. You could stay at all the resorts (11) for free (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA mainly).. But if you wanted to stay at other affiliated resorts there was a charge of $10 or so. Still we had not seen one inch of the property we were at or was it ever offered. Then the threats of, “well if you think you can buy this on ebay for cheaper, we know who you are and won’t accept you!!” and also there are “no be backs” like tomorrow because this is a limited offer! Ok.. I think we got the point.. Really hadn’t thought about “ebay”, cause we weren’t really interested. We were asked “Then why did we come here?” So I think you get my point. Even at this point if we were slightly interested, we aren’t at all now.
The park from what we saw was under some major renovation..
We were offered a 3 night stay for FREE (nicest gift of all) $200 free gas, collecting receipts for $50 each but have to be 60 days apart (wow?), An invite to another actual timeshare presentation, to be booked within 30 days and pay $30 for the reservation, android tablet value at $300 (actual value is about $50).
We really liked the camping there and one day it will be a very nice resort I am sure.. The swimming pool area was great, the little ghost town was so cute and well kept. The bathrooms were very nice and clean! It is a very nice park and I am sure it will get even better! Over all the staff was very nice..
Its too bad people need to “brow beat you” and be rude and make threats~! We go camping to relax and have fun.. This guy needs to learn to have fun! Jerry told us he sells 1 in 3 memberships.. Had a really hard time with that one! Jerry needs to take a chill pill have fun so people will enjoy the presentation! Might not take “be backs’.. but simply being nice would have been nice..

We arrived at the resort to find a friendly lady who checked us in. We pulled into our RV spot and got settled. Our spot was ok but the people who pulled a fifth wheel in next to us had quite the challenge to get in. Super tight spaces. You camp right on top of your neighbors. The resort is ok. Clean campground with a nice pool and a small ghost town. We did our timeshare appointment and was not pressured at all to buy. Enjoyed a nice BBQ steak dinner and then left early Sunday morning. Not the place for us and would never go back. The free gifts were a joke. $200 gas cards that have rules which are ridiculous. A tablet that is a piece of junk. And a free stay to come back. No thanks.

Lovely pool area. Great trees. Wonderful staff. Only 30 amps. No sewer, but there is a honey wagon. It is dusty, but then what mountain resort isn't? Its smelled so good from the trees. Hate the narrow road in.

+1
Camping here for a Native American soul is the best. Absolutely beautiful and the camp employees are the best. So down to earth and make you feel like family. I have been here around 8 times and will return many many more.

The cons outweigh the pros. Poor maintenance of narrow roads. Crumbling asphalt with drop-offs at edge of road. Entrance is long 1 lane 'trail'. Meeting another Class A means somebody backing up. Not a pleasant experience winding a big rig through the park. Wood fencing needs sealer, looks bad and will get worse without being taken care of. No sewer at site. Communal dump is difficult for a 33' motorhome to access. No cable TV at site and too many trees at most sites for satellite reception (normally I wouldn't complain about trees if there was an alternate for TV). No Wi-Fi at site, only at sales office. Sites are far from level and are a dusty red dirt that will track into your rig and make a horrible mess. Simply leveling the sites with gravel would have made a huge difference. The 'restaurant' only had pedestal fans for cooling. Was very hot when we were there. We chose to feed ourselves in our air conditioned RV. An adjacent road was busy with noisy log trucks. Why anyone would buy here (timeshare-like situation) is beyond me. They've had two years since taking it over to make this a good experience and seem to be doing nothing but taking payments from the purchasers. This could be a really nice place if they made an effort.

This visit has been the worst experience in my 25 years of RV traveling. My family and I had reservations and arrived a day late due to maintenance issues on my RV. After driving off HWY 50 through winding, dangerous, single-lane road, single lane narrow bridge, and trees encroaching over the road, we arrived at the check-in station, we were advised that we could not stay there (even though this was low season and plenty of vacancy) unless we attended the tour, which did not coincide with our plans to go skiing. Even though I was a coast-to-coast member, I offered to pay cash. The staff and management were very rude and turned my family away. This was very concerning on how they treat people....very evil....maybe that's why it is called Ghost Mountain

Rude, horrible sales person....this is an expensive dead-end time share...save your money. The sales person insisted that her pathetic spiel was not a time share but when she mentioned the $18-$65k initial price plus maintenance fees. It was a timeshare..
As we drove through the few campers did not look happy. We decided we would not be one of them.

We had reservations for Ghost Mountain and, after arriving and spending less than one hour, decided to leave and stay elsewhere. The park is not in great condition and most forest service campgrounds or state parks are a much better choice. The campsites are exceptionally close to each other and are all dirt. No concrete or asphalt pads and no adjoining grass. The sites have electric and water but no sewage connections. The roadways are in serious need of repair/replacement.
Given this is a membership/time-share type of operation, I could not justify making any sort of membership payment for future participation.

IT's Camping... so keep that in mind before going. it's a nice RV park with many trails, a swimming and a community area. There is space for tent camping and cabins for rent. you do need to be a member, The RV spaces are somewhat close to each other and they don't have sewage. There is a truck that comes and pumps your rig every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Yes Marta, there is a Safeway less than about 10 minutes from GMR, in Pollock Pines, Cali. It’s on Pony Express Trail just East when you come out to the main road.
There is also a CVS pharmacy next door and the highway is just behind Safeway. Across the street is also a Shell gas stn w/ a mini market. So, I think it’ll meet a lot of your needs.
Anything else you need to know, feel free to ask me. It’s a very nice area. We’d look forward to our next visit. Gluck!
