Detailed Reviews
I'm a native Californian and haven't visited the gold county in over 30 years. We had a fabulous 4 nite stay. The B&B is getting a facelift and refresher. It was beautiful, quiet, and very very clean. The charcuterie board & wine welcomed us to our room, and we enjoyed the afternoon on an outside porch soaking up the afternoon sun. There are many nooks on the grounds to curl up and read, enjoy a beverage or visit. The hotel is beautiful. Springtime weather is perfect.
Sutter Creek rolls up its sidewalks early. Be sure to eat at 6 pm or you may miss your opportunity. Most shops are closed Mon -Wed. so if shopping is on your agenda, go up at the weeks' end. We were antiquing and traveled from Placerville to Jamestown, but found our treasures at The Water Street Antique Warehouse right in Sutter Creek. It was a lovely stay. Our hotel was everything we were hoping for!

This property is located 2 minutes from the Rancho Murieta Equestrian facility. It is a gem of a hotel, and being so close to the horse show grounds is a huge bonus for those early days and late nights at the show. The decor is tastefully done in a western theme, and that design is seen throughout the property, including the rooms and restaurant. The rooms have balconies which allows for fresh air, super important these days. The beds are comfortable, and nicely appointed.
The staff are very friendly, one gentleman in particular, Jorge, went above and beyond to help me print an important document I needed quickly, I greatly appreciated that level of service. There is a spa on site, I have yet to enjoy any spa services but my girlfriend had an "amazing facial and massage".

There aren't too many options right in Rancho Murieta and this is a beautiful choice. I'd read and heard reviews of this property but just returned from a one night stay so I can chime in.
All of the pros are already mentioned. It's a very nice, upper-end stay.
I don't know if they are understaffed (covid related) or if these were oversights but a couple observations and experiences that could bring them up to 5 Star would be more towels in the rooms. We were two people, had two bath towels and one wash cloth. Adequate but not a luxurious feel at all. Lower end hotels offer 4 towels for two guests.
At check-in, we were assigned a room that wasn't turned over for the next guest. It actually seemed like a guest was still using the room. It felt violating to walk in, but they immediately took care of us and apoligized for the error.
Walls are thin. I could hear the people talking and listening to videos on their phone and their morning alarm, in the next room. Nothing can be done about it but it surprised me when seeing all of the heavy furniture, decor and beauty of the space.
Small things that don't ruin your stay but keep it a 4 star property.
This is a very nice hotel and their customer service exceeds many other properties. Overall, you won't be disappointed and will enjoy your stay here.

We stayed at the Murieta Inn & Spa for three nights as we visited the wineries and gorgeous countryside of Amador County. The room was spacious, super clean and comfortable...amazing bed! Great bathroom! The hotel restaurant had excellent food and even better service with a lovely bar included. Best of all was the staff at the hotel. Everyone we encountered was eager to please, answer questions, be of assistance. Special cudos to Jaron!! We'll be back!

Thank you so much for the kind words! My team at the Murieta Inn & Spa have worked hard to up our game and to provide great and personable service to each and every guest! We are so happy to be located on the doorstep of Amador County and it's up an coming wine scene! Out Chef at the Gate has worked hard to put together a menu that fits the ambiance of the hotel and in line with our Award Winning Locally sourced ingredients that we use. I appreciate the shout out to Jaron as well! We hope to see you again very soon! Brent Larkin General Manager

This was one of our best hotel stays ever! Newly constructed Hotel so everything is fresh and clean. Every detail is accounted for. The interior design is over the top.
Our room was perfect. Very well thought out and no expense spared: Aveda products in the bathroom, awesome sheets, pillows and bedding, extra sink and mirror outside of the restroom, etc... Can't say enough great things. The price is super reasonable for this five star hotel. The on premise restaurant "the Gate" is just as well thought out. We need more excuses to visit this part of the valley.

I travel frequently to the area for business and I will not stay anywhere except the Murieta Inn and Spa. The rooms are spotless and beds are made with quality bedding and are so comfortable that you don't want to get up in the mornings. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It really is one of the best experiences I have ever had at a hotel and makes me not hate business travel.

We are regulars at The Murieta Inn and Spa’s restaurant The Gate. Our favorite waitress Diann Baldock makes us feel so special and really goes out of her way to meet our dietary needs. We love the breakfast options and she makes the smallest adjustments to our meal choices to make it complete.
She makes us feel at home with her warm smile and attention to detail. She’s a wonderful asset to the hotel! Excellent customer service.

Soo we have been going bonkers at home during Covid with the kids and decided to stay here so they could swim and we could get out. Arrived to an hour and a half wait for our room. Check in is at 4 so we lost a lot of pool time. Was told at front desk they'd send a cheeseboard then later told no sorry we aren't doing that anymore. Got to room and there was a wasp. 2 towels for 4 people. 1 cup at coffee station and only decade stocked? No shampoo or conditioner and when I called I was told they were out of stock and directed to the closest grocery store. Go to the pool and there's no towels. Waited forever for a server and they looked so stressed I'm thinking understaffed. Pool was dirty and there was no one cleaning there either so dirty towels and empty cups everywhere. Restaurant was not horrible but not great food. Kids had butter noodles literally swimming in a bowl of butter covered in pepper- pepper for kids butter pasta?? We had such high hopes but never again. Disappointing experience.

Kimberly, thank you for taking the time to share a less that perfect experience that you had here with us at the hotel. As these issues are typically unheard of with us, I am already familiar with what happened during you stay and have followed up with my ream. If you will, can you please reach out to me directly at 916-562-3940 or at brent.larkin@murietainn.com so I can try to make this right. As a father of two, I understand the frustration that you and the kids must have felt. Between COVID, heat and the smoke from the fires, I am sure all you wanted was some relaxation. This is what we typically provide for our guests. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment!

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and very welcoming. Jaron, at the Front Desk went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and wonderful in every way.The travel to the hotel was relaxing. Our King Suite was completely unexpected, with incredibly high ceilings adorned with wood beams. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were just perfect.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, however the food was not to our liking. Perhaps it was a type we are not used to?
Literally everything else was perfect, and we will be staying here agian.

This is an awesome hotel the desk staff was amazing helping me check no issues and the same with my checkout was perfect. The desk staff even asked you when they see you in the lobby if you need anything they are so polite and professional. I have several groups stay at the hotel and they never have any complaints, in fact they say it’s the best hotel they’ve ever stayed at. The restaurant is amazing and the food is equal to any five star restaurant. If you want to book a group I suggest you talked to London she is absolutely amazing and helpful and ensures that your group has everything they need.
