Nestled in the heart of Sonoma wine country, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sonoma Wine Country charms guests with its inviting atmosphere, featuring warm fireplaces and cozy lounges. The hotel's amenities, including a welcoming pool area and pet-friendly policy, are a hit, though some aspects feel dated. Its spotless environment earns consistent commendation, as does the friendly service staff. While the location is perfect for exploring the region, hidden fees have left some visitors feeling the value isn't quite up to par. Room experiences vary, with cleanliness and comfort praised, but decor and maintenance could see improvement.

Our 11-y/o senior dog has limited mobility, so I always call hotels in advance to request a ground level room close to greenspace. When I called, I was assured that a note was added to the system and this request would not be an issue. Imagine my disappointment at check-in, when I was told no such note was left, AND we were assigned a room on the third floor.

Sensing my frustration, Kathryn at the front desk stepped up to save the day. Not only did she find us a great room next to the exit and greenspace, she went above and beyond to make things right. This, my friends, is customer service at its best. Even though her colleague messed up, she turned the situation around and resolved the issue. Thank you for being a true professional, Kathryn!

This is a beautiful property with well-kept grounds, adjacent to the golf course with pool, gym, billards, computer workstations, etc. Our lanai room itself was a little dated, BUT the beds were firm and very comfortable, and the AC worked like a champ. And for us, its location/suitability for the pooch could not be beat. We also found the central location in Rohnert Park to be ideal for a day trip to Healdsburg, grabbing tasty bites in Santa Rosa, and enjoying a night out at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. We will definitely be back.

From start to finish this property hit a home run in its service
Check in staff was efficient and friendly
Shortly after arrival to my room I was presented with a welcome bag that had sodas and treats
Room was quiet and dark as well as set up for being able to do business
Hoping to be able make a return visit to play the golf course located right next door
If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay with outstanding staff, this is a place for you

Stayed at this location because I tagged along with my husband for his week long conference. Was immediately greeted by a friendly face (Minnete) she quickly got us checked in while asking how our drive was and of course handed us 2 warm cookies. During our stay I needed new room keys and some assistance and Minnete was always happy to help. She was truly a pleasure. I did not get housekeepings name but she was so attentive and even though I did not require service daily, she would check in daily to see if I needed replacements of anything. I wish I had gotten her name though. She was so sweet! (Stay 3/24-3/29 rm126) We visited the bar and were very impressed by the beer selection and skills from Ry and Oscar. They joined us for some laughs and served us some great cocktails. Food was great too! The pool was maintained and warm enough to swim in even on the gloomy days. This location is great for shopping and just a few minutes from dairy farms and breweries. The only thing I would recommend is allowing guest to use the “reservation only” day beds at the pool when there is no one else at the pool. Seemed silly that they wanted to charge for something that was not being used during my whole stay. But I understand that’s not for employees to waive/override. Overall I had a great stay.

If the review was based solely on the friendliness of the staff, it would be a 5 but this is an older hotel and it has issues. The first was at check-in. Minnetonka was wonderful but she couldn't solve the problem. When I made the reservation, I specifically asked for a handicapped accessible room and that distinction was shown on the Hilton reservation confirmation. I didn't mention it at check-in because I assumed the front desk computer would give us the room we requested. When we got to our room, it was obvious that the request wasn't honored. We had to leave but I stopped at the front desk to talk to Minnete about this matter. She apologized profusely, as does most of the staff when you present a problem, and she said the reservation computer did not send our request to the hotel computer. We didn't feel like going through the aggravation of changing rooms so we stayed in 363. When we came back that evening, I called Housekeping to request an additional blanket for my wife. No one answered the phone so I went to the front desk to request it and I was assured that a blanket would be sent up. It was never delivered. The next day I wanted to take a shower but I almost fell because the anti- slip pads in the tub had worn down and provided no help. There was no rubber mat in the bathroom so I put the bath mat in the tub to avoid falling. The mat was delivered the next day. The room had a balcony but the screen was just leaning against the slider and not in its track so it could not be used to kep bugs out. It was fixed after I reported it. The hotel's location is very convenient which is why we stay here in spite of the hotel's shortcomings and high price. We will probably come back at some time but I'll have to remember to lower my expectations.

I rarely write reviews but think that the Doubletree has gone downhill in a couple of ways. I have stayed here many times throughout the years as it has a convenient location and has been enjoyable. This stay I called down to the front desk shortly after checking in with my young toddler because there was no microwave in the room for his nightly bottles. Usually someone will bring one right to the room with no issues but I was informed that they do not do that anymore and that I could use the one microwave on the floor that is next to the ice machine. I do not feel safe walking to the microwave multiple times in the middle of the night to make my son a bottle, having to get him out of bed to walk the hallways of a hotel in the middle of the night. Just want other moms to know that they changed their policy, I would not have stayed here had I known this "new" policy. In addition, the water in the shower/bath did not get hot, it was barely warm enough to use. We also had a room with a balcony and there was trash on the balcony at check in and it was very dirty. I wouldn't let my toddler out on it as it was pretty gross. Loved the restaurant, the steak was really delicious for dinner but the hotel needs to step it up a bit.

Room was ok, you can tell it was outdated & they were trying to cover it up. When I checked in, I asked for late check out & the agent said it’s fine. While trying to get ready to leave, I got bothered by house keeping twice & fire alarm inspectors. The fire alarm inspectors were nice but they were persistent about checking the room immediately. I was in there alone with my baby & honestly felt uncomfortable that 2 men wanted to come in. They were quick but everyone kept saying that I didn’t show as late check out. Restaurant, Bacchus, was terrible! They charged almost an $18 room service fee which should have been shared with over the phone while ordering. On top of that, the bread to my sandwiches were burnt & food was lukewarm. When I messaged front desk to complain, they seemed careless about the issue.

This hotel is not up front with its charges. I made a last minute reservation for a family emergency by calling their off site reservation telephone number. I was not told that the room charges included an $18 fee for parking a car at the hotel! When we checked in we were not told that an $18 parking fee would be added. The receptionist didn't ask for any car information or give me a parking pass. They refused to refund the charges after I called and complained. They only said "it's mentioned on the website." They should inform guests at check-in of the option to park elsewhere and avoid the exorbitant parking fee. The parking lot wasn't even half full during the 12 hours we were there. I'll never stay at such a dishonest hotel again.

Amazing service, felt welcome. It’s always nice to feel that you are welcomed. This is exactly why we come here. Upon arrival everything was perfect, and everything was laid out so that we don’t feel lost. I’m going to definitely keep coming here and I hope to see Minnete all the time.

We spent two nights here for a weekend get-away. From a distance the property looks nice, but up close its in poor condition. Everything seems like its not been updated in a very long time.

Our room had some 80s era bathtub, which randomly had ice cold water. The AC in our room was useless, as it made lots of rattling noises, but blew warm air all the time. We reported the AC problem after the first night, and they "fixed" it so that the room was maybe 5 degrees cooler, but still no where near the thermostat set temperature of 60F (the room was never below 70F). It rained on the 2nd day, and the roof of the lobby was leaking, with buckets setup everywhere to catch the water. They charge an obscene $18/night for self-parking. We had the Hilton Honors food/beverage credit, so stopped by the bar for drinks the first evening, and it was sad. One bar tender struggling to get drinks, not cleaning anything (the jigger was re-used between 9 different drinks without even rinsing it out once, he handled non food/drink items without ever washing his hands, etc). My gin & tonic was mostly ice & tonic water, and was mediocre.

Checkin was so over the top rushed that they forgot to even tell us where the elevator was to get to out room, and we had to ask after we couldn't find it (there's not even a sign anywhere obvious).

Overall, not a great experience, especially for a property that is charging so much.

So, this is a divided review. This property wants to receive a 5 star, but I truly cant provide it. This property (located next to golf course) in a massive hotel and convention center. The buildings themselves are older, and when you look just below the surface the age stands out. Things just dont quite work; power in our room flickered because of aging outlets/fixtures; the carpets are a bit old; the bathroom is very dated. However, the staff and amenities are well above par. Everyone on the staff was very helpful and polite with everything we needed; when our initial room had issues, the staff quickly resolved and moved us to a new room. They were very informative about the local area. The main atrium of the hotel is quite to behold with its vaulted ceiling and fountains. The pool and spa located in the central courtyard were clean and well kept.

It is easy to navigate inside the hotel. The handicap parking is located farther than I had hoped for. If the mobility impaired traveler is not alone, I would recommend dropping them at the front of the hotel then parking. The walk from the handicap parking for my husband who uses a walker was a little too far.

I can't answer for sure, but calling the hotel, explaining the situation and asking if they can help is probably your best bet.
