I wasn’t acknowledged as a Hilton Honors member (not a big deal) and had to ask for the free waters (we were parched). But the front desk staff was very helpful in advising us that we could plug our RV in overnight. Unfortunately, none of the amenities were open so my son had to make due with ‘swimming’ in the bathtub. The normal hot breakfast was not available- I’m sure that was noted on the website somewhere when I booked it, but was a bit disappointed to not have that nice hot breakfast. They did have bag breakfasts that could be eaten in your room- muffin, frozen breakfast sandwich, yogurt and spoke and juice.
For a quick overnight stay, it is very convenient to the interstate. There is a Safeway and several restaurants within walking distance and the regular amenities available (not during the shutdown). Would definitely stay again.
But, our night of excitement wasn’t over yet. We got to our room at Homewood and the AC was not working. It was pretty hot and stuffy, no way could we sleep there. We called down and the representative found and moved us to another room with working AC. Then we couldn’t get to sleep because we heard someone opening and closing their door across from us every 5 minutes or so. This went on for over an hour and finally stopped. So the walls are definitely a little thin. It was 2:30am.
This hotel’s setup is a little different. It was actually easier to walk outside to get to our room than walking through the hotel. It is shaped like a big square, atrium style with the rooms on the outer part of the square and the pool in the middle. It requires a lot of walking and is also easy to get lost! On top of that the call button on the 3rd floor had a sign that it did not work. So we had to walk down to the end of the hall to take the stairwell to the second floor to ring the call button to get the elevator to the 3rd floor so we could bring our luggage down to the main floor. The date on the sign was from 2 months prior.
On the plus side, the staff here is very pleasant, helpful and professional. The rooms are very comfortable. The small kitchen was a great extra, and the bedroom and bathroom are a space separate from the other part of the room and closed off with a door. They have a complimentary hot breakfast and a 24 hour shuttle. We are very grateful Homewood was able to accommodate us so late at night and on short notice.
This is a long review, but we just wanted others to be aware of snafu’s like we experienced. It is obvious staffing is still an issue and can cause a myriad of problems. Traveling is definitely not “back to normal.”
